My father left his Māori roots behind many years ago and no longer connects with his people or his Whānau. Due to this, I felt lost. But your music inspired me to find out where my family originated from. After getting in touch with some relatives, I now know I am Ngāti Tara Tokanui with ties to Ngāti Porou and Te Whanau a Apanui. Have always been a huge fan of Stan’s since he won Australian idol. Have had the privilege of going to see him live twice, the first when he released his book called Impossible back in 2020 and then a few weeks ago in Wellington for Māori Language week.
