My favorite part of this series is the self-admonishment and cursing of small parts that go wherever they like. I'm glad I'm not the only one having conversations with myself and the items I'm working on. So relatable. Entertaining and informative. Thank you for these videos.

What seemingly complex mechanism with a ton of precision machining in it. I could never invent something like this.

When I get mine all the way apart like you have this one, can I put it in a carb dip to help clean it up?

I don't see why not. But clean fresh diesel fuel works pretty good and is relatively cheap as for a solvents go.

Sooo, I may have messed up my pump. I tore the whole thing apart.. “assuming that’s what I was suppose to do” before I watched this video series. I took off the “leaf spring” thing. How do I go about reassembling the pump now? Or should I throw in the towel and get a new one. I’m working on a 86f250 with a 6.9idi Thanks in advance for advice

Well I would not necessarily say you ruined it. But the leaf spring thing is held in by a screw and that acre is in agjustment. Setting it properly is done with specialty tools and fixtures a injector pump rebuilder has. Maybe you could bring it a rebuilder and have them set it. Should be cheaper than a new pump.

Remove your fuel tank. I bet the it is covered with the same gunk as your pump has in it.
