Stance Management, Swinging Leads and Rope Management
rockclimb.video
----------
Although "Rock Climb" will have more than 100 videos (7 hours+ of content), the program is designed to include maximum information in a concise way that is easy to understand and assimilate. For that reason most chapters are built on the knowledge acquired in previous ones (e.g., Rope Basics → Top-Roping → Lead Climbing → Sport Climbing → Trad. Climbing).
----------
Rock climbing is fun but there is an element of risk. In some situations if you are not careful, the chances of serious injury or death are very real. A safety oriented mindset is essential.
The right attitude includes not thinking that just by watching videos and reading articles you will become a safe and experienced climber. Experience comes with practice. Practice means making occasional mistakes and learning from them.
We believe qualified in-person training should be the main way of learning and progressing in rock climbing. A good mentor, guide or teacher will make learning as safe as it can be, by assessing your level and every situation.
Our videos are meant to inform and entertain. Although our videos can be very helpful, they are not meant to replace in-person teaching by a qualified professional, nor they are meant to replace reading and understanding the instructions and manuals of rock climbing equipment-which we strongly advise you to do. (Manufacturers recommendations occasionally change, and it is a good idea to stay updated by visiting their websites.)
Have fun and be safe out there!

These are the best climbing instruction videos on youtube - great info, really well shot, and you don't try to cram it all into 3 minutes or fill them with ads. Thank you.

This is such great prep for my multipitch course. My instructors don't necessarily agree with everything, but it's a nice starting point at least

When making the pancake stack try running the rope through a carabiner hanging from your harness rather than your other hand, its much faster! Great video!

Here is Roddy's reply: Yes, that's a good trick! I don't usually find it necessary--although we made the mistake of shooting this video with a brand new rope, making the stack a bit harder to manage :)

Great content, good advices. To me, full adjustability of length of the anchor when using the rope (as opposed to slings/cordalette) for anchor material really shines when switching leads. More efficient to build, to. The only times I use cordalette or slings for anchors is when we're not swinging leads.

Thanks, I love your channel, you are the best! I wonder about possible vertical pool up when the leader falls. So, the bilayer is pulled up for the length of the anchor towards the first quick draw. How does it affect placement of the anchor cams / extra cams? Nuts seems a bit sketchy in this respect. Thanks!

Another great video. would you be able to do something similar but with half ropes as thats what we commonly use in the UK?

Thanks! Please see Roddy's reply: Half ropes are not so commonly used in the US, but this would make a great video... we'll add it to our 'to-do' list! It is possible to pancake stake with half ropes, just like when using a single rope. If you're careful about it, you can still flip the stack when the same person is leading consecutive pitches. Likewise, when making lap coils you can simply treat the two half ropes as though they are a single rope.
