Skanderbeg was the name given to him by the Ottomans which means lord Alexander after Alexander the Great another legendary leader of the Albanian ethnicity. The ottomans mistake is that Skenderbeg was not young enough to forget his heritage since Mehmet2 father took him and other very young noble boys as blackmail against the lords in Europe to be raised as “Turks” and Muslims and later appointed as warrior for their army. Skanderbeg will be forever remembered as a hero against Turkish supremacy and its cancer mindset of being world ruler. There's more to the story of the Battle of Abulena. Skanderbeg's own nephew, Hamza Kastrioti, deserted and betrayed Skanderbeg and joined the Ottomans. Hamza was promised Albanian lands if he defeated Skanderbeg. When the campaign started, Hamza knew of all of Skanderbeg's gorilla warfare tactics, but he didn't know his last trick. Skanderbeg disappeared when the Ottomans began to advance and rumors began to fly that Skanderbeg fled due to his own men betraying him. Skanderbeg wherabouts were withheld faithfully and he finally deployed his men of 8,000-10,000. They killed approx. 15,000 ottomans and captured an additional 15,000 as prisoners, including Hamza. For an army of 8-10k to defeat an army of 60-80k is as brilliant as it can get for a war general. He was truly one of the most underrated generals of all time.

The only mistake skanderbeg did was trying to cooperate with serbs which ended up back stabbing him. All he wanted was just to cross through serb territory to help bulgarians(Im not sure if it was bulgaria) fight ottomans and they didnt let him go through their territory which resultet in bulgaria loosing that fight and ottomans had bigger influence.
