Hi- I’ve been watching all the beginner videos today- you are a great instructor and the video is also amazing- easy to understand. Just got my paddle board! And “they” say that an old dog can’t learn new tricks, but my friend and I have got this, thanks to these videos!

I've rented SUPs twice over the past couple years, but just bought an inflatable and tried it out yesterday. Thanks to your video, I see my problem was that I had the paddle backwards (I also kayak). I'm 73 and love it ! Ty for your instructions.

I really liked the “Complete Klutz #1: Balancing & Standing. My Klutziness comes from being 76 and having arthritic knees. The second technique with the paddle is going to work very well for me for my second SUP rental. 🙏🏻

🙏this technique works well on wide, stable boards🤙🏼
@NaturalHorseman14993 жыл бұрын
@@blueplanetsurf the rental was a wide “cruiser” that was rigid not an inflatable. One of the times I got up I used the paddle to apply pressure when I was lifting my foot and and I was then able to use it to stand up. The approach in this video was a slicker version of my makeshift strategy. I’m looking forward to trying it. 🤞🏻

Ooo, I wasn't getting any forward momentum first, I was just trying to stand from a dead stop every time. Excited to try this now! I can kneel with no problem and I can do the balance boards with no problem, but I still haven't been able to translate that to standing on the board (on the water). I also find myself going up on the balls of my feet sometimes, so I'll have to work on keeping them flat.

Yes. Also make sure not to look down, look forward and let your body handle the balancing.

Not sure if I can do it 66 with Arthritis and walk with a cane but like the idea of practicing kneeling and standing on land.
@blueplanetsurf Жыл бұрын
Yes, practice on land first. If you are able to get from kneeling to standing, you can do it with the right board in calm conditions 🤙🏼

Good video. I'm studying balance videos - tried a hardboard SUP, got up and down 3 times and loved it. But then I bought an inflatable (32" wide) and was not able to stand at all - serious wobble each attempt. Guess its just a different feel.

That’s pretty common, the flex in iSUPs takes some getting used to and makes balancing more challenging 🤙🏼

Hi Iv had a full knee replacement and was wondering if there was anything to wear on knee that would give abit of padding as kneeling on a knee replacement is sore but i really want to go paddleboarding any tips much appreciated thanks Tracey x
@blueplanetsurf2 жыл бұрын
Sure, some people wear knee pads, which helps. Unfortunately you have to be able to get up from a kneeling position, unless you can start from a dock, but that can be tricky as well.

New subscriber here. I bought an inflatable paddle board a few weeks ago and was able to try it out for the first time yesterday, in the ocean. My biggest problem is the balancing; I couldn’t stand, I tried and fell, good thing the water was shallow and I had a leash on. There was a little current as the tide was coming out, I think. So ended up kneeling and sitting the entire 3 hrs. IT WAS FUN, but I like to be able to stand up. I wonder If I should practice standing up on my paddle board in the lake rather than in the ocean. After watching your videos, I realized I had my paddle backwards too. My co-worker said she couldn’t stand on her paddle board either if she’s in the ocean, that’s why she prefers paddle boarding in the lakes.

As mentioned it’s much easier to balance in calm water on the right board. As your balance improves, you can go in rougher conditions. 🤙🏼
