Stand Up Paddleboarding the entire Verde River of Arizona as part of the Follow the Flood series, a SUPer's mission to be the first person to travel the full length of the Verde from the Sullivan Dam to the Salt River confluence near Phoenix. Episode 9 travels from a camp at Red Creek, located within the remote Mazatal Wilderness to below the Horseshoe Dam at Horseshoe Lake. Despite water levels rapidly dropping behind me, both of the dams I will travel below are exploding with water as the previous flood waters absorbed by the lake created over capacity that required large releases. This caused me to have to stall below Horseshoe Dam for a slight decrease in water level knowing that the section ahead can be dangerous with bad vegetation and trees. Two weeks prior two friends aborted going onward from here for this same reason, and sure enough I will in the next episode find myself in the third and worst pin along the course of the trip.
