Thank You Anne! 🥰 I'm glad you added your own flair to this topic! Interesting ideas I haven't considered. I drilled a small hole through the adapter, at the base of the hex side, just atop where the magnet is. I attach to SAK keyring with thin kevlar cord - cow hitch. I don't need to remove the cord to use the adapter because the magnet can hold the bit despite thin cord in between the magnet and bit. OK ok, my husband actually drilled that hole. I thought I would mess it up. Thanks again for some credit :)

Zoe!!! Thank you so much for this really fun video idea! It obviously gave me months of entertainment. It cracks me up that you drilled a hole. There's this guy I work with, and I asked him for advice on how to carry it. And he said to drill a hole, but we were like, "nobody would do that!" 😆 So did your husband use a drill press? I can't figure out how to otherwise.
@zoephin6205
@zoephin6205 Жыл бұрын
You're welcome No, my husband doesn't have a drill press. He has a small tungsten carbide cube with 1/32 inch holes thru the centers. He wrapped electrical tape and then some strap metal around the adapter until it was the same width as cube inside a vise. The cube acted as a guide. The drill bit couldn't move around. After he made 1/32 hole, he expanded it to 3/64. So all you need is a magic cube made with a drill press 🤣

I have made inline adapters for SAK cap lifters and combo tools for over ten years. I use a 1/4 inch square drive to 1/4 inch hex adapter that can be found on Amazon. I insert a magnet in the square drive side and fill it with J-B Weld then I coat the SAK cap lifter with cooking spray and insert it into the J-B Weld and let set overnight. I just learned a new method from Jon Fix here on KZbin you fill the square side with hot glue insert the SAK lifter and wait for it to cool This method is a lot easier and so far it is working well for me. I carry my adapters in the bottom of my front pocket.

Hi. I’m really enjoying your videos! If your path to happiness involves carrying a 1/4" socket with your SAK, you can crimp an alligator clamp onto a paracord lanyard. Alternatively you can use a magnet on your lanyard. The bit holder shown at 8:20 will work as a stand-alone bit driver, granted the bits are long enough. For more leverage slip something like a pen or spoon through the ring or just replace the original ring with something larger oner.
@daphnedevi
@daphnedevi Жыл бұрын
All neat ideas. My hesitancy around them is that all that tends to make a pocket lumpy bumpy, and there is still the matter of where/how to carry a bunch of bits, or otherwise go "doh!" when you only bring a few bits, but need the one you left out. To that end I sure do like the little Victorinox bit driver that clips to the companion bit set... compact/flat. Maybe something like that could snug into your belt holster. I've largely stopped carrying my bit driver/bits with me for daily edc, because the need proved so rare compared to the frequency of using a flat or phillips. What bit do you find yourself needing to use the most, if any?

Hey Daphne!! Well, I do not have to worry about pocket bumpiness because I carry mine in a holster. But you are right - it's not likely for me to need another bit most days! But I love that there is an option. There is one particular Torx bit that works on a particular piece of equipment at work. I also feel like the bit that goes on to the cap lifter would be a really good option for people that do not have a Phillips in line. Especially if they have a 111 mm model, it just feels really robust.

Anne here are a couple of more ideas for adapters you might like. Craftsman Finger Bit Driver 41380 was designed to attach to a 1/4” socket wrench to allow finger tightening, so it can stand alone as a shorty screwdriver with hex bits it has a strong magnet & adding a swiss army knife multiplies the force for driving screws and such. Gerber multi tools have a bit kit that’s available separately that attaches to there phillips screwdriver & allows 1/4” hex bits There are probably other multi-tool adapters that would work also. Another option for carrying the bits and adapters might be in a sheath. The flat Leatherman bits might be useful with the right adapter and take up less space.
@zoephin6205

@@zoephin6205 Hi, I actually have used the 41380 in that manner, it’s magnet holds it to the SAK screwdriver very securely and also holds the hex bit in place. It is meant to be used with a ratchet, it doesn’t ratchet on its own. It’s 1/4” square female to 1/4” hex female, the screwdriver fits diagonally in the square end.
@zoephin6205

Oh, I understood how it is used. I have used this type of socket adapter. I just think the 41380 adds little beyond that ability, except for the magnet. I have plenty of magnets. I'm actually trying out a pliers- based multitool EDC now for the channel. I think I will go back to the Champ when I'm done. I'm just not a big-pliers kind of girl. That is very personal, though. I do!! I love that holster. ❤️ Hide and Drink Horizontal Knife Holster at Amazon US - this is an affiliate link, and you'll possibly support the channel at no cost to you if you use it: www.amazon.com/Hide-Drink-Horizontal-Accessories-Handmade/dp/B081VSXMLD/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=1JAYG19715Z7&keywords=hide+and+drink+belt+holster&qid=1684421562&sprefix=hide+and+drink+belt+holster%252Caps%252C124&sr=8-2&_encoding=UTF8&tag=vineclimber-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=ffc100904e7356e14255fe511619d58a&camp=1789&creative=9325

Really? Thanks! Personally I thought it looked very colorful with everything sitting around and so I arranged it so that things were kind of spread out a little more and took a picture. Fastest thumbnail I've made in months. Nice comment! Lol thank you. 😀

Ratchet Ratchet Ratchet . . . I just remedied that! I had a mastercraft ratchet driver I never used, so chopped the handle off, and pounded a 11mm 1/4 socket on the stub with additional putty for extra security, and now have a ratchet bit driver adapter with a 1/4 female cap lifter attachment. 💥 after doing so, I found a similar video of a homemade driver adapter for Leatherman that I will post for reference 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqCwmnZqm9N6l9Usi=U_QpCpeeFExwGD_s

Dude, that is really cool! Yes, I really think that a ratchet is what is missing from this video. A ratcheting option would be far superior. Thanks for the video! I enjoyed watching it.
