Standing Up for Australia: Rejecting Welcome to Country Division

This divisive Welcome to Country nonsense has been allowed to fester for far too long.
Australians are now being told Welcomes to Country had been performed for 250 thousand years and weren’t invented to cater to white people.
If they’re not to cater to white people, then why are white people constantly subjected to them?
These welcomes are based on a lie: that Australia is not our home.
So many people tell me they are just over it.
Welcome to Country performances are just racial antagonism disguised as reconciliation, imposed on children before they even get to school.
Australia is home to all Australians, and we don’t need or want to be welcomed to our own home.
We have shed blood, sweat and tears to build our home, and defend our home.
We have as much right to live in our home as anyone else.
If you hand over my home to someone else, I have nothing to fight for.
If you hand over Australia, I will not defend it and neither will my children.
Being an elder doesn’t obligate my respect - respect is earned, not given away to racial exceptionalism.
Being aboriginal does not make someone exceptional.
Being an Australian is what makes you exceptional.
That’s the identity we all share.
In this spirit, I stand and turn my back on Welcome to Country performances in Parliament and in public.
It’s a shame that so many other political leaders are too gutless to follow the same principle, desperate not to lose votes to the radical left.
I strongly encourage other Australians to do the same.
Stop being walked over, and stand up for your home.

I find it an insult the difference in the way the Government has been dividing the people, create racism and saying this is the land of the Native Land Owner. We bought and fully paid for our home and land but now there are noises being made that its not our land. We are now in our 70s, we simply can't start over again. We also deserve the respect that the Government is showing to the Native Land people. Somewhere along the way, I missed when the title of Native Land Owners came into being. For decades we called these people Aborigines, then that turned into the Indigenous. The Native Land Owners I knew from living ten years in Arnhemland didn't come up with this politically correct BS. This id coming from Politicians. Why is it that Canberra is forcing a divide between Australians. I was born in Australia in 1953, just as my parents were both born her in the 1930s. I’m with you Pauline, I have family who have died in wars for Australia, we were among the first few boats to arrive in Tasmania as convicts and free settlers, and my family worked hard with many others to start the settlement. My forefathers assisted in building Tasmania and creating this beautiful city that it is now. I will only bow down before god. And I flat out refuse to be welcomed to my own home.

Absolutely 100%, I'm indigenous and I'm sick of it. We are Australian, first and foremost. The welcome to Country performed at the AFL last weekend was a disgrace. If it was a white fella that spoke like that, there would be an uproar from the indigenous community.
