It was wonderful to hear Robert to say the Savoy shows in 81 in NYC. I’ll never forget how much energy was in the room. Especially Bruford face of enjoyment when Red was played live for the first time in 7 years

Robert Fripp, for all his reputation as an inscrutable visionary, truly loves these public forums, opportunities to remember, to riff on a memory of a feeling in the past. I for one am riveted by this. He is both erudite and emotional in speaking of his history as a performer and writer. His enthusiasm for such a forum brings me even closer to the music I have adored so long.

The story Bob Ezrin tells about Solsbury Hill is that Peter wanted the intro to the bridge to be "make your life a taxi not a tomb", which is a very Peter Gabriel lyric, but to Bob not 'commerciial' enough. He at least 'let' Peter come up days later with "grab your things I've come to take you home", and Ezrin said that was it. It made the song a hit, and probably bought Pete a pool and maybe a house, but it wasn't Peter Gabriles 'inner voice', it was his 'commercial voice'. The fact that it is 'introspective' about himself, and not 'advice' to an audience shows just how much the song is changed. Damn fine song though, Ezrin knew how to chop them out. He also said that for that scream at the beginning of, I can't remember which track, but Bob says Peter insisted they actually hoist him up until they got an 'actual' scream out of him. Thats suffereing for your art, the song wasn't even a hit. It was also Ezrins idea, so he claims, to do the barbershop quarter, but he says Peter offhandedly said it first, so I don't think such producers should be slagged all the time too heavily. I"ve never quite known what to make of Peter Gabriel, but enough of his old and newer friends have said enough similar things to think its likely true. I think even his first wife says mostly good things about him except that he was 'distant' in the marriage.

Only seen the "final" KC perform four times, twice in England, once in Utrecht and the last time in the amphitheatre in Verona and each time was one of the best performances of any ensemble I've ever seen.

I feel sadness that the final lineup of King Crimson may not tour again. However I am grateful these shows have been documented.

Having seen Crimson twice, I have to say that Nottingham was my favourite as I have always wanted to actually see them do LTIA2 up close, I bought a ticket for 3rd row, best £70 spent. They were brilliant, and then ... LTIA2.. I had to sit there trying my best not to show emotion as this was an absolute treat! The whole gig was wonderful, but that moment was the best :)

I was at the DC show (Anthem, a relatively new venue) in '21 that David refers to, and yes it was marvelous. The high point for me was Epitaph, being done on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. No mention of it, just the song saying what needed to be said (and I'd driven past the Pentagon to get there and back, as I do every time I drive into town, so I had fresh memories to attach to the moment).

This isn't on topic, but since I can't comment on KC videos I just want to say Jakko was a solid addition to the band, and I truly don't understand why people give him crap. The Radical Action set was fantastic.

Does jakko creatively add anything vocally? If so I have yet to hear it. As a musician and singer he is solid, but as a creative vocal force? Not heard this yet.

@@davidryan7386 I don't think he really needs to be to be honest. He performs very well live, and his voice / playing is a great fit for non-80s KC. As for creativity, I agree he doesn't stand out in that regard, but that's not a bad thing. For example, Adrian had many "creative" vocal parts that, to me, didn't sound good... like the entirety of Elephant Talk.

I am still undecided on any particualr show as a whole but do find individual pieces to be exemplary. FWIW the July 1, 1974 show is well known to me.

I witnessed multiple performances of the final KC -- from 2013 onward to the end -- and they all were consistently excellent... BUT there is indeed one standout: don't recall the year, but the venue was in Allentown PA. I can't precisely recall now which piece it was -- probably Easy Money -- but the onstage intensity just kept building and escalating throughout; had me literally (and I do mean literally) on the edge of my seat. An astonishing power was being channeled through those mere mortals that evening.
