As an ex-catholic, I see your point. But since there is a good chance that the person handing you the cookie had his finger in one of the altar boys, I find it a little unhygienic anyways. If I have to attend mess nowadays I bring my own snacks and make a game out of it to sneak the food into my mouth without anyone nothing.

There was a test done on church holy water and like a zillion microbes were found in it. 🤮 My grandma and my great aunts use to put little bottles of holy water in my purse and I use to feel too guilty to throw it away. I found one in an old purse- God knows how long it had been in there- but there was a lot of goop in it that was actually starting to turn green! I threw it out and said: "the power of Christ compells thee!" My mother wasn't amused. 😂😇

Not just not being baptized, Catholics with a mortal sin also can'treceive the Eucharist. Part of why people can't receive it is because they don't understand fully what it means. Even Catholics have to undergo First Communion and can't receive it before that.
