Stan Laurel was lost when his great pal Oliver Hardy died way back in 1957. Stan continued to write scripts for them both, never to be performed of course. He died less than 10 years later, finally reunited again in death. RIP Laurel and Hardy we still laugh with you.

This is probably my favourite clip of Laurel and Hardy. What makes it so good is the disapproving looks from the folks at the table behind them, and the reaction of the singer when he spits out the drink. It only gets better when the magnificent Anita Garvin appears and gives the boys their comeuppance.

Oliver Hardy died in 1957, which makes your date impossible, as if that weren't already obvious from the style of the music, the fashions, the model of car, etc. [ See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blotto_(film) ]

I don't know how many times I've watched this in my 60 years and they still fold me over. From looking at my dad rolling off the sofa pissing himself laughing in the early 70s and being amazed because he never laughed so hard at anything, to just recently watching them ending up with a mule on a balcony as my grandson shrieks with joy. These two are like Shakespeare or Beethoven, a testament for the ages to what humanity can create at its best.

What's brilliant about this scene (other than it's masterful execution) is that we have ALL been in a situation where we have been overcome by uncontrollable laughter in enviroments where such would be perceived as socially unacceptable.
