This scene, along with several others, are perhaps my favorite of the scenes from Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, "Barry Lyndon." It is perhaps the most beautiful film ever created.

Lady Lyndon wanted nothing more than to love and be loved. Redmond Barry wanted nothing more than to tarry until he could cash and carry.

Marisa Berenson was considered one of the most beautiful women around the time of this film...both a model and part of old wealthy European stock...she never really made it big in film but always left an impression...she has a much larger role in the movie Caberet with Liza Minnilli...she was also the sister-in-law of actor Anthony Perkins through his marriage of her sister Berry Berenson an they had 2 children...Berry Berenson Perkins died in the first plane to crash the World Trade Center on 9/11.

"Les cœurs, l'un par l'autre attirés Se communiquent leur substance; Tels deux miroirs ardents, l'un à l'autre opposés ; Concentrent la lumière, et se la réfléchissent : Les rayons tour-à-tour recueillis... divisés, En se multipliant s’accroissent, s'embellissent ; Et d'autant plus actifs, qu'ils se sont plus croisés, Au même point se réunissent." Exquisite direction and putting in scene. I love mannerism of epoch. Thanks for HQ, a lot.

The Largo (3rd movement) from Vivaldi's Cello Sonata in E minor (Op.14) goes very well with this scene. A fine choice!

Lady Lyndon is the height of feminine beauty and yet Redmond ignores her almost totally, preferring the company of other women. Although, as a character, she is perhaps the most flat and unengaging character I've ever seen in a movie. She probably has under ten lines in the whole thing and, aside from the death of Brian, her main function in the story is to sign checks. This may have been intentional though. She is, after all, no more than the elegant pictures and carpets in his life.

I'd rather sleep with Lady Lyndon than observe her from afar, dude.

I always liked this I'm sorry scene. The one man who had the decency to quietly tell me he was sorry and kiss me, I pardoned. He cried, but he lost me. I did not harm him, though, I left him everything.

he's just been cheating on her. she's just seen him cheating on her. you're giddy with the power of romance babydoo, Lady Lyndon is a maudlin loaf of bread, and barry is a smooth faced shit. Kubrick tries to kill us by making such an emotional mess so fucking sexy.

Lady Lyndon had quite the body. Hummina hummina.

Sometimes I wish Kubrick would have used the song Tabhair dom do Lámh during this scene, but in many ways the song that plays almost suits it better.
