STANLEY No 42 MILLER’s PATENT FILLESTER COMBINATION PLOW PLANE … GUNMETAL

After a good cleaning i realized that i had some information i could share about my Stanley N.42 Gunmetal, Miller's Patent Plow Fillester, combination plane.

so i wound up with the 41, main body, fence and rods from one dealer and fillister bed and iron from another!

@@ChetSpier yes, perfectly. both dealers and myself are friends(and still are) and we all knew there was a chance they may not have. at the price i paid, i was willing to take the chance!

Wow, what a great piece of history. I recently came upon a Stanley 45 in mint condition with all the cutters. Been having a ball learning how to use it. Your story fit right in. Love knowing the history. I have since used my 45 on my last two projects. I make Shaker furniture with hand tools as much as possible. Thanks

any comments on the #43? very similar but with less bells and whistles

Does the 43 have the same fence, I've come across two and both were set up for plowing. Also one of the examples had a copper finish or bronze body.

The 43 had differing fences according to the age of them. The 44 had a bronze or gunmetal body. I would love to see pictures of them. [e-mail]
