Actor and cookbook author Stanley Tucci learned this quick, simple method for preparing steak from his nonna, who often served beef as part of multi-course family meals. “We don’t serve meat ‘American style,’ with a vegetable and potato on the side,” Tucci explains. “Instead we begin with pasta, followed by meat accompanied by a simply cooked vegetable. We finish with a green salad followed by nuts and fresh fruit. This has long been the tradition in my family, one that I continue to maintain today as I find that pacing the meal this way leaves me feeling less full.”

I would just like to say while I'm not the best cook and can make maybe a fried egg I don't care what he did or didn't miss...this looks better than most things you can get at a restaurant these days. Truly. I'm afraid of even getting a steak out at this point just go to your local grocery store and even mistakenly butchering (pun intended) it and half ruining it is better than any cheap halfsy thing in a restaurant these days. Good for home cooks. Eating out these days is for appetizers and fueled consumerism.

Great actor but equally a great cook. He comes across as a true gourmet who studies food and really understands cooking at its core. I wouldn’t call him a chef because I don’t think he’s actually cooked in a professional kitchen working with a team of cooks and running a food service. Nevertheless, he’s very talented.

Unseasoned boiled grey steak. I've watched a few of his videos and they're all like this - extremely bland food cooked poorly. It's too bad because the production quality and settings are really nice and I like him as an actor.

I must agree with the majority here: his chef skills need tightening up; he undoubtedly boiled that grey steak; his pan sauce would taste sub-par/bitter at best; the chard looked good but we saw few details in action and none of the cooking process.

That "steak" looked mireable. Thin and cokked on heat that was too low. The only thing I'd do with those flobby strips is put them into Fajitas or a taco. Grill a 1.5"+ ribeye, for goodness sakes.

I really wanted to find out he is an amazing chef but to be honest its not working. I think if he had a rustic style it would have worked but it's coming out as high nosed cooking and the implied marketing for the pots and pans is off-putting.

Oh, I don’t know, how about a searing-hot pan, the steak cooking on a bed garlic, thyme and rosemary then being basted with brown butter ; A sauce for the chard and perhaps cooking it in a vegetable stock instead of water, to name a few things. PS salt and pepper on the steak !

He should stick to acting. Cooking a piece of meat until it turns grey is an abomination. It has no flavor. It has to carmalize so basically he steamed the beef instead of having his temp up to 375 in the pan. Keep acting Stan stay out of the kitchen and respect our art. You're not a culinary artist.
@HughRogers609
@HughRogers609 2 ай бұрын
You ain't going to easily caramelize a steak that thin. It'll be rubber. Waste of ribeye to smash it out flat. Would have worked better to get the pan ripping hot and searing it 30 sec a side. Also Stan, you let meat rest BEFORE you cut it, to stop the juices pouring out. Stan is good TV value, but this was terrible. And he gets a named pan range?
