The commanders of the Shadow Tower and Eastwatch; Ser Denys Mallister and Cotter Pyke; were such complete polar opposites that couldn't stand one another. Ser Denys was a highborn from Seagard, a castle built to defend against the Ironborn. Having a courteous, well-spoken, graceful and chivalrous nature, but distrustful of Ironborn. He sees Cotter Pyke as uncouth and uneducated. Cotter Pyke was the baseborn son of a tavern wench from the Iron Islands. A blunt and rough speaking illiterate man with no regard for highborns. Seeing Ser Denys as pompous and not a warrior. Their mutual distain was partly the reason for the election's deadlock. The only thing they could agree on was Janos Slynt being the worse choice. Samwell Tarly managed to convince both to support Jon Snow instead, by saying Stannis was going to name the other as Lord Commander.

As we get further into the lore videos we see more differences from the books and show; Mance Rayder lives, with a role still to play. Hopefully we'll get to see it from another POV character also in the North. Still recommending any anime/manga fantasy/sci-fi world for the next lore video.

The name of the theory comes from when stannis used light to trick an enemy army before. The idea is stannis will do the same thing and force a March directly onto the hole ridden lake. Making it much easier for him to win despite having fewer men.

@@Darkdaej Like has been pointed out elsewhere, GRRM is probably at least releasing TWOW & ADOS close to each other, and chances are that things from WOIAF, HOTD and Fire & Blood 2 are going to reveal hints from his modified story post-GOT show. I think hoping for all of that together is wishful thinking but it def fits into how GRRM plans stories to reveal things in sequential pieces with HOTD before TWOW and then do the same for ADOS

@@kongming66 I used to believe this but no longer. Book 5 was published in 2011. GRRM got sidetracked with other things, then delayed even further with his related projects. The man is in his 70s and he's rather obese. He could die at a moment's notice. We might see TWOW but i hold no hope at all for a proper ending anymore.
