Would there be any reason to buy a fixed index annuity vs a MYGA for principal protection and return like CDs? I understand with a fixed index annuities, you do not really know what will be the cash value after the holding period, unlike a MYGA where you can know exactly to the penny. So in your experience, what were the actual return of existing fixed indexed annuities vs MYGAs? Of course, as always, past is no indication of future results for indexed annuities!

I believe there are too many variables involved to make a meaningful comparison, starting with timeframe. How well does a leatherman tool work as a screwdriver, as scissors, as a knife or pliers? Why would you choose to use a leatherman when specific tools are available? Will do, not might do.

Why do income riders only ride on FIAs? Do carriers not offer competitive income riders on their MYGAs? MYGA seems a much preferable vehicle compared to FIA.
