Hey! When I was a kid, I lived on the back of a farm, I used to bring my dad’s hammer down to the dry creek bed with my friends and we’d break crystals out of the rocks. We eventually moved on to venturing deeper into the farmers property (after getting permission from the farmer) collecting sticks and bringing string to build bows and arrows to explore the creek bed as it snaked through the rural Australian countryside. We made a “secret base” out of a tree about a 30 minute walk deep into the property away from everything, where my friends and I would have solace from adults. We’d make swords, light little campfires, basically just like scouts but without supervision. We’d encounter wildlife, wild foxes, the farmers cows, spiders and snakes absolutely capable of killing us (emphasis on Australia). We’d gather resources from what was left behind by farmers of generations past. There were piles of old trash, car doors, old bottles, and made our own world. I’m 26 now, a Dad to a 5 year old girl, living in a capital city in Australia about 3 hours from where I grew up. I often crave the freedom and experience I enjoyed so uniquely as a kid, and I’ve been watching these videos before I go to sleep and it’s the closest thing I’ve been able to find to the same quiet, curiosity and wonder that I experienced as a kid, SO long story short, thank you for sharing this content on KZbin. I don’t own a gaming rig, and I need to save some serious money for emergencies as a Dad now that living expenses are so high, but when I have enough to feel comfortable enough to support my daughter in any scenario, I will be saving to get a gaming pc to experience this gameplay style myself, to relive my childhood, though I will be honest, I want to wait for base building to 100% realise my nostalgia of childhood. Obviously my childhood didn’t include space ships but in my head, I may as well have been flying in one, as the experience of growing up like that was magic and sorely under appreciated until it was too far gone. Thanks again for sharing, these videos are important to me getting through these weeks of mundane repetitive work with the promise of experiencing this ultimate escapism one day in my future.

I love using the Nomad as a mini carrier for either the ROC or lately my STV. In both cases it turned out that those carryable loot crates you can find in settlements still fit onto the cargo grid alongside the car. Not enough for looting scu containers of course, but a nice trunk box As for the cooling problems: Never had that either. But i did swap out the power plant after apparently oberburdening it a few times

Really like my nomad But had both problems you described initially. Both went away after components upgrades. One other minor problem with it (but not unique to the nomad) I like to run mixed weapons, and setting gun a to left mouse button and gun b to right mouse button will only stay that way until you store the ship & just reverts back to all weapons being on left mouse button. Only two ships i have that don't have this minor problem is the cutlass black and aurora. And I'd assume its because the cutlass black is a mixed loadout stock & the aurora only having the two guns stock. Could be others as I'm far from having every in game ship, but as of now the two listed above is the only two that don't have that annoying factory reset option when the ship gets stored.

Nomad is cute, but it’s basically a “space pickup truck.” The second ship I bought fort “real money” was the Cutty Black, and I used it to run Agricium” back about 3.14 or 3.15 when CIG was doing a full wipe in every update, and I got tired of doing deliveries to earn every thing back after every update. Hey, Mac...another great off grid video! Personally my favorite ship for ROC mining is the Valkyrie 😁. Love the looks of the dropship and the space it offers to store a couple of vehicles. You can take the ROC for mining and some other vehicle for exploration on your expeditions. Yes, I know with the cost of over 4 million in game credits it is not the cheapest option there but I find it gives me everything I need in a ship and most of all it does not overheat 👍

The nomad overheats if you leave the q drive on while flying around. In some more difficult planets drop the sheilds so they don't overheat. It's odd cause im fairly sure it's one of the only ships with this kind of issue.

I think it would add a lot more if they focused on little creatures first. I dunno...maybe it's somehow more complicated. But it seems stuff that fills the niche of birds/squirrels/insects would have more simple behaviors and less necessity for programming interaction while adding the feel of a much more living and populated world. Basically just things that add sound to the environment and dart around from tree to tree/hole to hole/flutter from place to place etc etc. The big dramatic ones add way more gameplay but it seems like way more complicated behavior to program that's likely to add stress to the system, break things, and end up with dogs on chairs. After all that, the result will be that you have some random dogs roaming around...the worlds will still feel mostly lifeless and empty.

I love the Nomad. I quickly upgraded to it after starting. The only things that hurt it are the fuel consumption, overheating issues and the orange HUD. I hate the HUD. If they would offer something like it in a slightly larger version (with a larger living space), I would buy it. Whereas the Origin ships (400i and 600i) are nice with their various accoutrements, they're too fancy for my tastes. I don't want a space yacht, I want a house-boat. My Corsair is a bit too sparse, though. Something in between. Retaliator living module maybe? Also, you should go ahead and mine the rocks with higher quantity of inert material. You still get gems and it's more efficient to pick up a few extra while you're already there than fly around looking for higher yield specimens.
