Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.

I came across one of these unmarked settlements after a bounty, got shot in the back by the resident Nine Tails for existing (pare for the course with 9T) so I pulled my A1 out after respawning, went to my body marker, and decided to have some fun As for the "Nomad" style life, I tried it, but my main source of income is trading in the Hull C, so I still tend to be found chugging around as a space trucker

What all the new points of interest on Hurston and Microtech show me, is how essential these and a lot more will be to making exploration and living out of your ship in the verse truly enjoyable. I love visiting them, scavenging for random things other players might have left behind or picking up the boxes so I can stock up my ship with them so crew can access the contents when others join me. It’s great, and the more of these points of interest they roll out, with each one being slightly different and hand crafted (that’s really important for me), the better.

I wish those fires put out a bit of warmth ... like when you're about to expire from the cold, you could get a bit of health back by warming yourself next to the campfire, but if you get too close, your health goes down because you are overheating.

What those two guys did to you at the settlement is exactly why I always go out fully armed and armored. Been living out of my ships since 3.17 and have had quite a few encounters with other players., some good, but mostly bad., but as long as no weapons are pointed at me, I'm no threat to anyone. Been killed and have killed many times, but that is how the game is. Love the nomad life and would like to find out more about the protection for hire as I am interested in doing it. I think the post on the hill is Razor's Edge and the lower farm is Moreland Hills. ALso as Im sure you now know, SM is coming as soon as this week in the PTU. Multiple servers within stanton on the same shard and they are planning 300 people per server limit. Things are moving very, very fast now. THey expect thousands of players per shard in a matter of a couple months. JSYK, when scanning, put your crosshairs on it and it'll scan much quicker and better. When database is running slow may have to look away then look back and scan again, but the crosshairs are the key not the box in the circle.

I also experienced that if you park and log out anywhere near Harpers Point, your vehicle is either sent to the Hurston star or does not move at all. Or worse, they get stuck in the terrain even if you park them and use a ground vehicle to check around / mine for 10 mins or more and return. The terrain near the settlements is not safe and so deadly for ships.

I’m still keeping score - 30+ encounters with people, only 4 friendly ones ( only 1 on voip ). All others i would be shot on sight, no matter what kind of communication i tried 😅. BliNdIo o7

I know right, it sucks when people want to shoot first, loot later...I'd just like to meet people and ask about the area, what they have seen, what's interesting, what danger there is etc, especially if animals come in and there's giant predators about. A little bit of two way communication and social interaction would be nice rather than just kill kill kill

It is quite strange. There's really nothing to be gained from killing other players unless there's a bounty to be collected (and this mostly for reputation). It's not for challenge either.

CIG really needs systems to discourage murder hobos or else the game is going to be a mess when it comes to social interactions. I'm sure they have plans and it's not important right now

@@IkarosTypeAlpha I do know that. Currently SC PVP is either for fun between PVP players or to enjoy suffering of someone who doesn't want to do it. I did my share of PVP in EVE Online slaughtering helpless miners in low sec (and sometimes in 0.0. But those mining modules were quite valuable and risking a Rifter was well worth it. Getting caught in 0.0 could hurt however since those clones weren't free.

These places are so gorgeous... 😍 Check trees for fruits or other stuff, I found edible fruits on a tree long before they added these settlements and also tree stumps with harvestable fungi.

Newish to the Verse, but up to speed, with multiple ships and ground vehicles. Like many others here, I appreciate the danger that exists, and it is only rational to find effective ways to counter it. I am happy to team up with any friendlies for patrols and settlement security. Maybe we could pick one as a hub and start there.

I pulled one out of an AZ with an SRV that said "gamerules". No CS was acquired for doing it. So the Vulture should be able to do the same, within reason for the size of the ship. Haven't tested the Vulture's TB mass limit yet.

I think in general salvage being against armistice zone rules makes sense to some extent. Like imagine if a vehicle junkyard existed in the middle of a city, it’s just out of place for that type of work to be within an official area. But as for gameplay I agree. There’s tons of abandoned ships at new Babbage surface entrance but they always have their shields up so either way we lose. I even tried salvaging my own ship I lost ownership of but the shields were up so I couldn’t do anything.

Hey Mac, great video as always. Just a heads up with the VOIP, there seems to be an issue with it where it needs to be refreshed (turned off and back on) for players who have been in the server for a while to hear anyone who has joined after them. Not sure if that was the issue you had with it, but it's been my go-to fix for when VOIP isn't working

I think post 4.0 we should see nyx come along pretty sharpish. Hopefully before 1.0 infact, with 1.0 bringing a system like Odin perhaps. Hard to say really as it really but I think that for a 1.0 they would want about 3-5 systems available minimum. But that is just an opinion of course. I suspect the progress tracker will reveal their plan

A very long time ago they said they were shooting for 5-10 systems for "launch," but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're thinking 3-5 now. I also think Nyx will be coming very soon after Pyro, much faster than people are probably thinking. Much smaller system than Pyro or Stanton, so I think they might try to surprise us by releasing it with very short notice.

Not a bad idea to provide security, even a medical ship that travels planetside for the communities, but with the CR8 being only a t3 med bed, at least an ability to call a larger ship a med bed can provide more. I don't think the Communities NPC will go via transport to a station and return including small player bases, recovering from an attack that did destroyed the medical housing or ship.

You can find out by scan the ship if it say " gamerules" then the player is off servicer or reclaim so the ship is free to use

Aweome video, I had a recent similar experience at Ghost Hollow. While salvaging wrecks got pirated by a couple folks, ended up crashing my Vulture, but they were really cool guys and we chatted, all in all it was good game play. Would you share your eye tracker settings, your movements look so smooth mine are pretty quick and jerky. Also is the eye tracker moving your scanning hud? Keep up the great vids.

Really like your videos SMB, and that's the reason why I love for the exploration and hate for the pvp criminals so I don't venture out at all. My first time mining by hand I was deep in a cave when my ship on the surface was blown up by someone who just left me to die. I mean in pvp areas like grimhex where I have been chased around the asteroids by someone trying to gun me down and that being a criminal area that was great fun I guess, hardly go their anymore. :)

That was very like an NPC that blew up your ship outside of the cave. Sometimes it will spawn somebody's bounty hunting targets and they linger around shooting any ship they see, even if it's powered down. Had NPC's start attacking me while I was ROC mining one time.

Only issue I have with the new poi is that bed logging will put you in the sun.

I think that only happens when you change regions. Keep an eye on that, next time you beg log, when logging back in, stick to the same region, as I’ve only noticed it send me to the sun once I switch

I beleive the game would gain tremendously by having vocational quest archetypes, lose series of missions helping you progress in a specific profession. Making sure the early missions are safe for newbies and help filter comms and missions at a "guild" level before legal vs illegal.

I'm optimistic meself, in terms of temperament. But I am also a believe it when I see it kind of guy as well. I have found that I spent more than I thought, and while it's been cumulative spending, it's STILL a shock to find just how much I have spent on SC. So going forward I am going to be far more cautious, even though I know that cumulative total will (no doubt) climb. 3.23 will have to be as promised to make me feel better about what I have spent.

Agent_sidewinder here. He covered most of it. I was the trigger-happy one. I'd already been shot at that session and no comms after some action sketched me out. Felt bad when I made the wrong call and hope next time I can talk it out. ​@@SuperMacBrother

I like the CDF gameplay. Dang, just shot you in cold blood. You came in , whistling, being friendly. Not nice! No comms array active in the area, so they didn't get a crime stat. My friend an I have been trying servers other than the US to find nice bunches of players and we have genuinely found that the EU is pretty friendly. Maybe using a friendly emote as a backup for voip not working.

The game needs some serious work vs griefers. All they do is ruin the game for other players on purpose. 100% we need a pvp flag, though team damage should always be enabled at the same time.
