I'd argue that ship rental is the most important feature they brought in this year (And the fact that you can buy almost all of the ships with in game money). I fly the 315p, and it's a slog to save up to buy a prospector, or a freelancer, or a better fighter, so even 1 day rentals will bring so much more life to the game.

according to the trade websites for SC, with 12-20k starting cash, you can earn about 22k profit every 20min in a Cutlass Black. A cutlass black costs 27k a day to rent. so lets say you start with 39k aUEC, spend 27k on the cutlass, keep 12k, trade for an hour, and you are left with 51k. trade another hour and you got 117k. 78k profit in 2 hours, from what you started with :) then you got fuel costs, so lets say fuel costs 7k, you are left with 71k profit in 2 hours :) you could.... rent the andromeda for a day on day 2, for 70k, fill it up with cargo for the last 40k you got, make 30-35k profit per 20min :)

That interdiction ship reminds me of Heavy Interdiction Cruisers in Eve online, they literally project a bubble around themselves that stops enemy ships from warping away. A ship like that is going to be necessary if you try to capture/kill enemy big ships that would otherwise just jump away before you can get through the shields and kill the engines.

I hate that all buildings look so similar in SC. Also, every single thing in this game is just made out of metal. the ships (obviously), the spacestations, the cities, the outposts, every single thing looks and feels so similar. I want to see some concrete or other materials used other than metal. The only building that looks somewhat good is the central business district building in Lorville, that actually uses concrete.
@Taladays37
@Taladays37 5 жыл бұрын
@@MyN0N4M3 Its because from a economical and structural perspective, not only is brick/concrete archaic (especially since its so far in the future) in both look and use, brick/concrete degrades much quicker (corrosion) than metal. Also it takes much longer to place bricks than it does to place metal panels. If you look up anything that is ultra-modern, its a lot of glass, metal and plastics and thats basically what most buildings in SC are going for. Also I believe that is marble that you are talking about in Lorville. They also use marble in the 890J, which is completely frivolous but thats what you expect from a rich person's ship.

I always enjoy your videos Morphologis; I know you're a busy guy irl so it's appreciated when you take time out to prepare one for us. This was a great overview of 3.7. I've been in it for the last few days and yes, once they lock down the frequent crashing, we should be in for a smooth(er) experience. I would love to hear your thoughts on the Defender so please consider a separate video on that one, even if it's short. I find mine to be very striking. The color palette isn't what I expected and the prong designs are so unusual that I wasn't sure I liked them at first. It's really grown on me though since messing around with it - the view is not the issue many of us worried it would be and it flies surprisingly well in-atmosphere. I love how it 'bleeds' green fluid when damaged, that's a great thematic touch. I thought the UI would be more alien, but it's still good. All in all, it was worth the wait. The Mantis looks great and I applaud the dev would took one in for a visit during your stream, that was really cool! Oddly enough, i was looking more at those new Kroneg weapons on it. I'm not usually a hard-hitting/cannon-style gun fighter; I prefer repeater/spray-n-pray since my aim is terrible. But they look great, I'm going to have to make a point to try them out. Thanks !

I was thinking just the other day (and again now seeing Morph's clips from the cave entrance), how high is the quality of the visuals here. Especially considering the overall scope of the "game world" on offer. How it would blow the mind of the guy who invited me to play my first MMO 10 years ago (a 2-yr.-old game at that time). My friend's pitch at that time was, "this game impressed this 'old-school ('80s-'90s) gamer', as representing a 'new era' of higher-quality gaming" (or words to that effect). Now if I show him SC, presuming he hasn't been following as I have... I'll be able to say the same thing right back at him, heralding a subtle shift into what is in my mind effectively a whole new era.

I saw trhe same comment - not sure if it was the same video or not, but my reaction was the same as yours. I've got a fairly high end PC so I have played a lot of modern PC games, and I play them maxxed out graphically and at 4K - and I'm not sure if I can think of a single other game I have played that is as visually impressive and downright immersive as Star Citizen. Battlefield One is up there. The Ghost Recon games (Wildlands and Breakpoint) have certain moments where they look pretty immersive. But there is nothing I've seen that looks more immersive then flying down to a planey in Star Citizen. I had a couple of friends who have been skeptical of the game and havent played since 3.0 / 3.1, and the first time I flew them down do ArcCorp and they were able to see the procedurally generated city come in to view, then sit and watch as I flew around and between skyscrapers - they wre in absolute awe. Their literal responses on the spot were "wow - I get it now. This is amazing". I get that its still buggy and still has some ways to go, but man - it's already impressive in so many ways.

The reason is animation is stiff without transition from idle animation to movement and in betwean different animation cycles. Also camera movement doesnt have any after effects to make it a smooth experience. No "skins" to show progress trough out the game so all the visuals feels static and the brain only appriciate changing evnfiroment that was already explored. Here all the enviroment are static without any change. Also there are no animation on any texture. No criters or other ingame "flow" like river, bushes, trees, anything that would normally would give a bit of life to the scenes so it feels like a dead. All of these are hallmarks of an ALPHA game ofcourse, but also the early 3D games were all like this as they didnt know how to implement all of this to fill up the enviroment. Since the game is already purchasable and have ingame microtransactions it is not an early access game. It is a game they sold with a promise that it will be improved like a service. Thats why it is 100% liable to be judged like a finished product and being in alpha it looks like a dated game.

If Interdiction creates a bubble that forces nearby passing ships out of a quantum jump, then it would mean that the person using it would need to know the routes taken by ships they want to stop. Interdiction would be a great method for players who want to be space pirates. As a result, ships that would fall victim to the tactic will start traveling with fighter escorts so that if they are knocked out of a quantum jump, then they will come out supported by the kind of firepower that can take the interdictor out relatively quickly. So it seems to me that use of interdiction would be a bit of a gamble. And it will actually bring players together. I remember Ultima Online before the introduction of Trammel. I remember having wandered into a tavern that had several other players just hanging out and chatting. Then someone cam running in yelling about Player Killers on the road between towns. Suddenly, most of those socializing players stood up and started equipping armor and weapons, responding with statements like, "lead the way" and they all headed out. The ability to gank other players actually emergently created a valid counter, facilitated by players themselves. I find it refreshing that we may see this sort of gameplay return in SC. What's going to be funny is when a pirate group with an interdictor ends up knocking a fully armed and manned battle cruiser out of a jump. I would love to be there to watch the pirates scatter before jumping out of there themselves. Like watching a monkey run up and slap a sleeping lion...
@SmartassEyebrows
@SmartassEyebrows 5 жыл бұрын
This is what I've been saying too. It's not trolling by any means. This is a fundamental aspect that will allow emergent gameplay. I love the idea of interdictors and all that will go into countering them, and vice versa. As it is now, it is super easy to escape any one who tries to come after you, making piracy very difficult. Given how the law system makes it so pirates can't dock at lawful stations, this gives their profession the buff it needs to actually be viable. At the same time, this makes ESCORTS an actually viable profession as well, whereas before escorts were meaningless if one could escape trouble with a quick jump. Now big cargo haulers will really want to split profits with escorts to minimize risk -- while pirates will have to work together to catch more lucrative, and thus more highly defended, game. This also helps make Bounty hunting a valid profession too, as now pirates can't just run away with a quick jump. It also makes fleet engagements far more interesting, as the weak but strategically critical interdictors become a major focal point of any battle. Interdictors have a huge enabling knock on effect across the entire ecosystem of the game. I really hope the professional complainers who mob every update don't trick CIG into dropping the concept. I am sure there will be needs for balancing, but already I feel the interdictors, or at least the Mantis, are probably too weak based on the description. But we'll have to see.

@Opnn8d1 5 жыл бұрын
@@SmartassEyebrows Interdiction technology should not be available on the open market. It's not the sort of thing that any self-respecting interstellar government would want in the hands of average citizens, as it is by design, highly disruptive. However, as military/law enforcement hardware it makes sense. So ideally, it would be restricted technology. That would not stop such tech from showing up on the black market, salvaged by scavengers in the aftermath of battles. This opens the door to the notion of creating technology from salvaged components. The odds of salvaging an intact interdiction module would be near non-existent. But salvaging base components that would allow one to be built would not be outside the realm of possibility. Also... would interdiction fields be safe? If they are powerful enough to knock vessels out of a quantum jump, what sort of cumulative negative effects would they have on living tissue? There may be reasons why using the technology would be something one would not want to do all the time. Or, what if prolomged exposure to interdictor fields could render the quantum jump drive on one's own ship irrevocably damaged. In order for something that can be as disruptive as interdiction technology to potentially fall in just anyone's hands, there needs to be some sort of trade-off.

@brutus brutalis Ah, someone that isn't educated on this game. 1: Inititally revealed in 2012, Chris Roberts started from zero, with no studio. 2: After a successful Kickstarter campaign, there was a vote where about 10k-15k people participated, and they wanted more fidelity, so the project got heavily delayed. 3: Initially. Star Citizen isn't the primary game. What they wanted to create was a spiritual successor to Wing Commander. Squadron 42 is that project. Star Citizen is merely a test bed for the singleplayer. SQ42 is currently slated for 2020. 4: Remember that most games being developed by AAA companies, or other indie studios are released in a huge mess in a "finished state" - Star Citizen is less buggy than Bethesda games for an instance. And these games takes 6-10+ years, or even more to develop. They are also releasing SQ42+SC, so not only is it 1 game, but 2 games with only 6 years in the cooker. 5: Amazon's support for Lumberyard afaik is lacking severely behind. 6: Server-side Object Container Streaming (SSOCS) and Server Meshing are 2 techs that needs to be developed before SC can truly expand. Please research, mr. Troll - It is tiresome that we have to correct you, and Derek Smart fanboiz for potential buyers :) NOTE: All ships are available in game for money, you only need 45 bucks. Most missions are 5000+ UEC, which after some gameplay, you can afford better equipment, or even vehicles / ships from Rental

I think the Mantis would be an excellent escort ship to protect ships such as the Cat when running cargo or the 890 when needing to high tail it out of the area. Being able to jam enemies from pursuing your ship long enough to stall would make it a serious rush to interdict and stop them.

Haven't been able to play the PTU yet, but will today. From a Linux standpoint, it is very clear something definitely has changed, because a lot of people playing on Linux are getting black textures. I and another member of the LUG org on Spectrum have found a around for now by copying the Windows Shader folder from inside the USER folder over to Linux. Basically, there are approximately 43 new texture shader files in 3.7 that aren't in 3.6 and older and 3 texture shaders that have been removed.
