If you look closely to the CIG trailer for the ship you can see the pilot saves weight by wearing his paper thin yet durable medical gown while flying.

@@j.d.4697 I think its more oversight than anything else. CIG devs do not want weapons on racers because...they are too small to cause any real damage... and they do not have to balance racing ships for combat. My guess is, eventually weapons may be removed on dedicated racers.

Its larger size makes it less forgiving on courses with hoops to fly through. I would like to see more courses with wide open gates and long distances...

For me, this one's a nonstarter. I actually have racers, but a bit smaller (Razor LX, Ranger and Cyclone RCs, Fury LX, etc...). The Peregrine's absence of weaponry makes it a ship I'd want to transport to a racing site via a craft that can respond to aggro. That's not something I want to worry about at the Peregrine's size. I'm glad CIG's pumping out ships. There should be many, many ships in assorted shapes dancing in The Black! And racing ships should, of course, be in the mix... but I think CIG knows we'd like to see that chassis do more than just go fast or just throw missiles. Makes me hope the original Sabre will get the Mk II treatment, so we get a version more people are looking for... maybe stealth and E-war variants, ala the Hornets...? Sorry to ramble! Fun fact about the Peregrine, it is the fastest bird but there is an asterisk. It’s the fastest when dive bombing its target but not in regular flight.

The Peregrine has the best performance of any ship ive seen in atmo. Makes racing really smooth. But will be beaten easily on straights by other racers.

They should always have (even just size 1) weapons on racing ships in Star Citizen. Many would like to have the option for holding races that allow a little weapons fire between competitors. Earlier racing ships were created by devs that WERE armed for that reason. Looks like they've forgotten that.

I hosted racing for a year and a half. 1. This is a horrible racing ship due to lack of bottem and mav thrusters 2. The previous flight model felt more realistic I hate to say it but out of the 5 flight models SC has had, This is my least favorite.

I'm not that interested in the racing gameplay but it would be great if CIG comes up with a mission where the speed matters, for instance you have to collect a certain type of medicine and deliver it and use it with your medgun to save someone's life. You have to fly through obstacles and maybe there is also a puzzle before you can enter the building and with the Peregrine you have more time to do it all.

Completely agree. If at least they would have implemented a roll of toilet paper in the cockpit so you can wipe yourself after being shot at with no means of defending yourself whatsoever. It's a one trick poney "racing", and that's it. Can't even be used as a fast daily driver as it would require at least 1 to 2 SCU of cargo space to make it a viable option.

The Mercury has to be one of the coolest ships in the game. It can be used for hauling, fighting, and maybe something else in the future when the CIG is done with data running. Also, it's one of the few ships to have secret passages and technical tunnels. It's kinda sad that most of the bigger ships don't have at least tech tunnels. Even if they don't provide any benefit, it still looks more interesting to have them.

Makes sense for a racer to not have weapons, I dont have a problem with that. But the price is pretty steep for a ship that can only do 1 thing. If they are going to charge $170 for it, it would be nice if they at least gave the option to add guns

Honestly the Sabre Peregrine is an even dumber concept than the 350r for racing. It is too big, it is far too heavy (the stupid thing weights as much as almost 8 razors), and worse it is not even armed, for the same price as the Sabre Firebird (185USD, they are out of their minds). There is a reason why racing is dominated by tiny light ships and snubs.

the peregrine got 2 shimmer stealth shields and got pretty low EM and IR signatur... lower than the hornet ghost.... you can put other components as stealth instead of military... when it gonna make a difference... since it doesn't use much power... without weapons and all...

Beautiful ship but the use you'll have for it compared to the price... Keep in mind I do assume here that the smaller racers will be better on race tracks unless they overpower its capacity, well at the beginning anyway. Perhaps made for longer race tracks compared to small racers with more max power? Hard to see it be as smooth and fast in turns. For sure an ingame purchase when you want one.

I like Agies and enjoy the Saber series; however I will not be buying a dedicated racer. I do feel the missed out making this an interceptor. I really wish they would make a Saber interceptor. I will not hold my breath though because they said they removed the guns to not have to worry about balancing issues. The same issues they will have if they make an interceptor version.
