Pure energy. All you shoe gazers and wannabe thrashers--pay attention. This is real talent. I saw Janis Joplin many times in SF in the 60's. Same with little Lydia Pense, and later Pat Benatar. They all had that same energy too. Vocal power and a don't just stand there attitude. Entertainment!

I must have missed this episode. Regardless, one can just see/hear the raw talent. They had some talent on this show for sure; Stacy Lattisaw and Sam Harris. I think Alanis Morrissette was on this show too, but I'm not really sure.

I personally think Julie Carter deserved the win. The only reason I think she may have lost is because she did an original instead of a well-known song. She has the much better voice. No screaming or gimmicks.

Dear Shauna, you can't be more wrong. She's the most talented singer/songwriter I have ever seen. Julie Carter's voice is completely different. There is no point to compare the 2.

The thing is Shaunna, that in competitions like this, you can't just bring a good voice. There are hundreds or even thousands of good voices out there, but you need to bring uniqueness as well as stage presence to your performance. And while I'm not too crazy about her arrangement of the Beatles song, she clearly had her opponent beaten on all counts.
