Uhura is completely right, why would a supervisor not want their top students aboard for such a "life or death" mission?! He had every right to "prefer" this student based on her skills as every superior would. With "preferential treatment" he was actually referring to his affection for her, at least a certain bond he did not have with other academy members. Agreed. Though I like TNG as well. And the series with Captain Janeway was good.

Watch the movie with a decent sound system and you'll hear it too. Anything with a subwoofer will do. :3

How do the Abrams Star Trek movies manage to depict the fun and utopia of Star Trek better than the modern tv shows? It baffles the mind. They’re both co-written by the same dude.
@CaptainPikeachu3 жыл бұрын
Modern shows still have fun and utopia, we’ve seen it on multiple occasions.

Being my first dive into Star Trek, seeing the U.S.S. Enterprise in this scene in 3:14 always amazes me. For reference sake, it gives off the same feeling seeing the Ulysses in Disney's Atlantis dive down.

I need to rewatch it. I got feels from my freshman year for some reason. Actually saw this in theaters three separate times. With my parents, with my then boyfriend, and them with my grandparents in a theater that wasn't too loud (I have sensory issues)

0:54: God: Leonard, The academy board has made a terrible mistake in putting James Kirk on suspension, he knows things that Starfleet doesn't truly know. Starfleet doesn't know this but they are walking into a trap, in order to save them from getting killed you must get James on board the ship you are assigned, it's the only way to stop them from getting killed.
