Hi Junkball - thank you so much for the shout-out! I've seen a few videos covering my remaster and, unsurprisingly, you've outclassed them all :^) I also wanted to congratulate you on that seamless bit of editing when you transitioned from footage of your monitor to a screen recording of the site. Seamless! Don't think I didn't notice that transition with the doors in the turbolift, either.
@JunkBallMedia

How can people donate? You've gone above and beyond preserving a piece of Trek history. Thank you so much and let fans help! I'm sure many would be happy to (no pressure). Also, that's for noticing the transitions. I'm proud of the monitor recording to gameplay transition. It was my favorite thing to make in this video. My 8 yr old son actually suggested the turbolift door transition. 🫠
@ODavies
@ODavies 9 ай бұрын
Thank you, @@JunkBallMedia! I didn't just notice the transitions, I was blown away by them. Please tell your son from me that he clearly has a future in professional video editing :^) People can't donate to me directly. I'm not in this for profit and I don't legally own the IP. If I were to profit from this, morally speaking, I'd be stealing from the people who made both this game and Star Trek in the first place. HOWEVER... if people would like to show their appreciation for the time I put into this project, I'd be very grateful if they donated to a cause that's close to my heart. I don't think I can post links in comments like this, but of you search my channel for a video called "Proudly Not for Profit," you'll find the details. A friend of mine was recently badly injured and left in a difficult situation. Although her modest request did meet its target, it WAS modest - and any further funding she could raise would HUGELY improve her situation. If anyone would like to show their appreciation for my work on Star Trek: Borg Remastered (and the other remaster content on my channel), that would be a perfect way - it would mean worlds to me.

Since you're here, I have a suggestion. If you go in full screen mode, and in landscape, could you move the scan button and other such buttons to the side instead of at the top? IT would be more useful than those buttons that seem to just make noises. It would be good if the game always attempted to make the screen as big as possible if you're in fullscreen. Also, a question: you made the scan function work differently. Did you consider implementing the way it was in the original game, where you'd click on something in the paused video to scan it? Were you not able to use the clickmaps from the game itself? Don't get me wrong: It's a serviceable replacement. The main issue I have is that I have to scroll up to click the scan button, or make the video small so the scan buttton will be on the side. Oh, one more thing: how did you clean up the tricorder audio? that audio was very staticky and low quality. It sounds like you put a bit of an echo effect on it, which is smart, but it still sounds better than anything I was ever able to do. Finally, is there any place that we can download this in case Paramount are jerks and take it down?

Well, that didn't take long for his favorite question to be dropped! Sadly, he stated in multiple interviews/streams that this won't happen. My favorite Star Trek game is Star Trek The Next Generation: A Final Unity. Its the deepest point and click adventure I've ever played. With so many possible ways to solve each puzzle, and a whole starship combat function that is revolutionary for its time and completely OPTIONAL in the game. You can literally send the enterprise to any planet, for no good reason. A whole new mysterious ancient race as well, and full voice acting from the TNG cast. Such a good piece of Star Trek content.

I remember my dad getting a computer from his work that he set up in the basement, and his friend at the time had put 25th Anniversary on it. Unironically, my favorite Star Trek video game growing up was Star Trek: Borg. I spent countless hours replaying it over and over. Still remember the old school game "cheat" walkthrough my dad found on the Internet and printed off for me to help me on the more difficult parts (I was 6, I couldn't remember the hypospray programming codes, haha). I think I liked it so much because it dropped me directly into the action of what felt like a real TV episode. Good times. Was really happy when I found the fan made remaster.

My favorite Star Trek game is the Star Trek: The Next Generation pinball machine! It is a 1993 Williams "Superpin", meaning it was a widebody pinball machine absolutely packed with mechanical doodads, moreso even than a standard pinball machine. It features original voicework from the entire main cast, plus John De Lancie as Q. There are few greater joys than hearing Picard call out "ALL HANDS PREPARE FOR MULTIBALL!" when you engage the Borg. There's seven main missions, 3 side missions (Romulan, Ferengi, and Cardassian encounters), the aforementioned Borg Multiball, a shuttlecraft simulation video mode, a secret video mode where you play Poker against Riker, and a "Final Frontier" 6-ball wizard mode if you complete all of the main missions. I have spent years restoring and playing it and it's the crown jewel of my pinball collection!
@BrowncoatFairy
@BrowncoatFairy 9 ай бұрын
There are also very rare alternate ROM packages for this pinball machine -- apparently each cast member got paid for their voicework by being given their own copy of this machine, and they were allowed to record custom callouts for their own copy. For example, Michael Dorn's has a bunch of lines of him telling his kids to stop messing around and go do their homework or something. Gates McFadden's makes comments about how all her patients always die.

As a teenager of the 1990s and fortunate enough to have a father who was a computer geek, I was able to enjoy some of the classic Star Trek games of the late 1990s that have been lost to time. Star Trek Borg was one of those that was an absolute thrill to play. Your video brought back some great memories of what that game and era was like. My favorite though was 1997's Star Trek Starfleet Academy. Not only did it have real filmed scenes with Kirk, Chekov, and Sulu, it was just an incredibly fun game to play. I later got Klingon Academy which starred Christopher Plummer and reveals how we got the eye patch. This video was so good you should start making videos in general on the video games of Star Trek. The two I mentioned including the legacy of ST: Bridge Commander would be neat. That game is 22 years old and people are still playing it and modding it to this day. Elite Forces 1 & 2 were amazing ST: Voyager era games.

Love Borg, but my favorite has to be Star Trek DS9: Harbinger. It came in a wacky triangle shaped box, featured the DS9 cast doing voice roles for weird ghoulish CGI mannequin representations of themselves, and has a legitimately engaging story. The DS9 era should've been the height of late 90s PC gaming goodness but unfortunately there weren't a lot of cinematic DS9 adventures. Harbinger is a game I see people very rarely discuss which is weird as it is more or less an original DS9 2-parter in a clunky, charming 90s PC cinematic adventure game package.

My favorite Star Trek game was from the 80's! Is was called "Not this one again". The premise of the game was to see if you could guess whether or not the episode of the original series had already been recorded onto the VHS tape. We had a list of all of the episodes and which tape they were on, and we had to figure out before the first commercial break whether or not we were wasting our time recording an episode we already had. Then after the first commercial break you would get the name of the episode pop up during the continuation of the program. This is when we would find out who was right and who was wrong about whether or not we had it recorded on VHS already and whether or not someone had already correctly named the episode. I swear there were still at least a few episodes that we never had recorded because they wouldn't air them on TV anymore. But that might be a misguided false memory. I'll have to check if my dad still has the VHS tapes and the spreadsheet.

(At this moment, your view count is increasing at about one per second!) This one looks like it took a huge amount of time, so for my part, thank you for bringing the results to share here. Your review is excellent, and telling the story in this half-hour format is great. While Star Trek games have magnificent space ship graphics to admire, playing them isn't really my cup of Earl Gray. As an "Interactive Movie," however, if I had ever heard of it I probably would have included it in my Star Trek collection. For this and other reasons, I've begun to wonder if I somehow beamed over from an alternate Earth where _Star Trek: BORG_ didn't exist.

My favorite game is Elite Force; it was just so epic to battle 8472 and the Borg and interact with different parts of Voyager. I remember playing the multiplayer death match in the holodeck.

tactical assault for the ds was always my go to. the ship battles were always nice and slow and clunky. feels like a real proper naval battle in space

Favorite Star Trek game is the Full Size SEGA arcade cabinet, it kinda replicates Kirk's Captain's Chair. It has a spinner and weapons buttons, the display used wire frame graphics just like the Star Wars arcade games did.

I came across this video and was brought back to some major nostalgia! My favorite game would have to be Star Trek Voyager: Elite force. I was going through a really rough patch and that game was my therapy. Something about Star Trek always brings me a type of inner peace and it’s fun to play a first person shooter! 😂❤ things I used to have Star Trek Borg, but I had a friend “borrow “it, and mysteriously moved away…😢 I love Q! I got to meet John de Lancie last year in Huntsville, Alabama😊 Great video!

Ah this was such a fun video. Aside from A Final Unity and despite it's lack of actual gameplay, Star Trek Borg is probably my 2nd favorite star trek game. It just feels like you get to play through a trek movie. A made for TV level movie but a decent one at that. And like you said, John de Lancie really makes it so worth it. There were some tidbits of info here I had no idea about too. Great video as always

My favorite Trek game, hands down, is DS9: The Fallen, specifically for that haunting moment you get out of a cave network, turn a corner and see a crashed Miranda Class ship, the Ulysses, and they really do a good job of showing the scale of it. The first time I played, I just stopped, and stared at it for about a minute. The game had some great music, too, and nice opening credits, they really set the tone for the entire game.

Never heard of this. I remember playing games like this on my friend's computer. I also remember the books like this. You know, the ones where it says, "Of you choose to take the elevator, go to page 98. If you choose to take the stairs go to page 76."

Greatest Star Trek game is the arena shooter 'Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force" it is based on the Quake 3 engine and runs JUST like playing Quake 3 Arena / Quake Live except with a bunch of a awesome star trek weapons. Fantastic movement and maps. I'd love to have Star Trek Borg.

It's always a treat when Junkball drops a new video. My favorite Star Trek game as a kid would have to be Legacy, but that was before I discovered VR, so Star Trek Bridge Crew takes the cake.

I never knew this existed until a few years ago I saw a 'playthrough' on youtube. I'd have to say purely for sentimental value my fav star trek game is the original Armada, my dad used to play it with me all the time, as an adult I still go back to it even though Armada 2 is superior in almost every way lol.

It's got to be the much overlooked Klingon Academy from Interplay. I loved everything about it from working for General Chang from Undiscoverd Country, invading the Sol system, destroying the 1701-A. It was such a great Klingon story and actually moving the ship around in 3D, adjusting your power levels and coming up with different strategies using the environment .. it was all so rewarding. Playing this back in the days when you really lost yourself in a game as everything was so new. Other honourable mentions, Judgment Rights, 25th Anniversary, Armada, Elite Force and for just the sheer joy of sitting in the Big chair and having a crew - Bridge Commander was unique. Great games that shows whats capable when a developer loves the IP.

I think my favorite Star Trek game was Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. It came out in the late 90s on four, count ‘em, FOUR CD ROMS! We played it on our family’s StarMax, a Mac clone back when those were a thing. Spent many hours doing - and redoing - missions. Still have it, and I’d love to have BORG to go with it!
