And probably was denied entry for dying stupidly, wastefully, and accomplishing nothing but failure. If he had any chance of success, it would have been noble. But it didn't, he was warned it didn't, and so it wasn't. He wasted his life accomplishing nothing, and that's not an act of a warrior deserving entry into Sto'vo'kor.

@@KierrokCyclone It doesn't matter what the fan-made video said, it's not canon and is incorrect. The Planet Killer first appeared in the TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine." In that episode, Commodore Matthew Decker tried this exact same strategy, piloting a shuttlecraft into the mouth of the machine and exploding the warp engines, and it was absolutely USELESS, not damaging the machine AT ALL. The only effect was to slightly reduce the machine's power output temporarily. It took the force produced by exploding the warp engines of an entire Constellation Class starship (the same as the Enterprise) inside the Planet Killer to disable it. That's ST canon, and is why this idiot Klingon's attempt was doomed to failure from the start. It had been tried before, and it failed, so we know for a fact a shuttlecraft's engines aren't powerful enough to damage a Planet Killer by exploding inside it. I appreciate the skill and effort the maker of this video put into it (well done!), but if you're going to make a story about an existing thing, you need to do better research about that thing to make sure you get the facts right. An entire Federation or Klingon Cruiser could have done the job, but not a tiny shuttle. My advice is to revise the video and have the Klingon steal an entire battle cruiser to try this with, and THAT would be a plausible story.

@@christopherg2347 It was a stupid, worthless attempt doomed to failure. He died for nothing, and he should have known his ship was too small with too little antimatter to make his plan work, because it had been tried before and failed. When Decker tried it, it didn't damage the Planet Killer AT ALL- it only reduced the machine's power output a tiny bit temporarily. @@michaelgreenwood3413 It doesn't matter that the video says so, it's nonsense because the video is not canon and it contradicts established canon from the actual TV show. The original ST series episode that INVENTED the Planet Killer established that a shuttle's engines don't have enough antimatter to damage a Planet Killer - a character in that TV episode tried it with a shuttle and it didn't work, producing no damage to the machine at all. The episode showed that it takes a LOT more antimatter to be successful, because it required exploding an entire Starship identical to the Enterprise inside the Planet Killer to stop it. A puny little shuttle simply isn't enough. Go stream the TOS episode "Doomsday Machine" or read the description of the episode I linked to on Wikipedia and you'll see. The maker of this video made the same mistake you're making because you both didn't know the history of the Planet Killers and how powerful they really were (I'm not blaming either of you for not knowing, you couldn't know unless you had seen the original series episode that was made decades before you were born). This video can be corrected by substituting a heavy cruiser size starship for the shuttle, and then it would make sense according to canon.

I found this scene in the game funny but also very inspiring. If he’d only had waited 5 seconds for us to remember about the Hargh’pengs.. 🤣 Rest in Eternal Glorious Battle, K’Valk. Wait.. If a Klingon fails to kill an enemy they’ve challenged, aren’t they bringing dishonour in death? Or does this not count due to the enemy being an object? Thinking back to former Fort Officer Doran who brought dishonour to herself by dying after challenging the dishonourable captain. Wait again.. If K’Valk was dishonoured did we fix that by finishing the job?
@seanwhitman8353
@seanwhitman8353 2 жыл бұрын
K'Valk was already dishonoured after his capture during his failed mutiny on the Bird of Prey we end up capturing. So he was already in a bad place. In this, his death paved the way for us to finish the job, and we dedicated the victory to K'Valk in the end, so it ensured he would be redeemed and be allowed into Sto'Vo'Kor. I mean, you only need 4 or 5 torps if you hit it right to finish it off, whereas last time they had to blow up a whole ship and a shuttle to kill it. This one was weakened by K'Valk's sacrifice, and for a Klingon, a heroic sacrifice that leads to victory is a surefire way to be remembered as a hero rather than a disgrace, which was what K'Valk would have been in for at B'Vat's hands before we stepped in.

@@thodan467 Decker was driven by both guilt and thirst for revenge for the deaths of his crew. He wouldn't listen to reason, just like this Klingon, who apparently was driven by a need to "restore his honor," implying he had done something to dishonor himself. In a way they had the same motivations - revenge and regret - leading to equally bad, wasteful and futile decisions. For dying stupidly, in failure? I think not. Klingons honor dying in battle, but only if it was for good reason, to try to achieve something, not for nothing. A wasted warrior's life doesn't serve the Empire well, it weakens it. The part of Klingon warrior culture about dying for honor instead of for mission accomplishment is idiotic. As General Patton said in his speech to his Third Army troops in WWII: "No dumb bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the OTHER poor, dumb bastard die for HIS country!" In other words, you don't give your life foolishly, without hope of accomplishing your mission. Much better to live to kill the enemy another day.

I think it's very unhealthy for kids to idolize a fictional warrior ethic that is so often viscious, malicious, and utterly IGNOBLE in nature. The ones they should be identifying with and respecting are the members of the Federation, who seek peace instead of war, but whom are fierce and fearless fighters when they need to be, far more noble than most Klingons.

I just like to think it only needed the five torpedoes because of K'valk's efforts. It probably would have been more and more ships would have died had he not done what he had done. And the planet killer would have likely destroyed another planet in the process.

@@-Gothicgirl- they mean the song that K'Valk was singing. Actually I have it here: Hear sons of Kahless! Hear daughters too! The blood of battle washes clean The warrior brave and true! We fight we love and then we kill! Our lives burn short and bright! Then we die with Honor and join our fathers in the black fleet Where we battle forever battling on Through the eternal fight!

@@-Gothicgirl- internet meme, from I think Metal Gear Solid 5, where the intro cinematic tells you to "press F to pay respects" to a dead comrade at a funeral. basically "press F to interact" with the casket, the interaction triggering the cinematic. but people took the "press to pay respects" as a meme, and during playthrough videos every time the character died, they spammed the chat with F.

Of course, the Klingon died for nothing, because a shuttlecraft's engines don't contain enough antimatter to significantly damage a Planet Killer machine, only slightly reduce its energy output. We know this because it was tried once before by Commodore Decker using an Enterprise shuttle craft, and he failed. It took the antimatter explosion of an entire Constellation class starship's engines to kill the planet killer in the TOS episode The Doomsday Machine.

@@thodan467 But like a typical Klingon, he didn't bother to study the issue to see if his plan had any chance of success, and even when warned it wouldn't work, he did it anyway so he could "die gloriously" to save his "honor." How is committing suicide in an act doomed to failure glorious or honorable? It was stupidly wasteful. He deprived his comrads of his continued service in battle, weakening them as a result, while accomplishing nothing useful at all, all just to try to salvage his honor - a selfish motive when you really think about it.

@@jiyu9694 He would have probably died either way, via B'vat or others. "He deprived his comrads of his continued service in battle, weakening them as a result" False. In fact, he actually gave his comrads something to work with, like Commodore Decker did in "The Doomsday Machine". His "continued service" would have probably been short, since he literally commited mutiny in a Klingon ship, and we all know how Klingons treat insubordinate officers. If it weren't for him, we probably wouldn't have been able to destroy the Doomsday Machine. (Yes, destroy, because Kirk in the TOS episode only managed to disable the DM, in the game, we literally crack its hull open,)
