I wasn't actually aware of the Infinity scene before this, I haven't played a Halo game before. I intended it as a homage to the USS Odyssey being destroyed by the Jem'hadar, and this being the namesake's revenge. But I'm glad it has resonated with another audience!

The only problem I have are the rumors that the only time we'll supposedly "SEE" the Enterprise F in Picard season 3 is when she is allegedly being "decommissioned". If that is true, it's more a slap in the face to people actually wanting to see the F on screen in a long live-action show - and NOT just as a cameo.
@mrspinner2588
@mrspinner2588 Жыл бұрын
It makes sense it's going to be already decommissioned, most enterprises lasted around 15 years. Enterprise F could have been launched around 2387, so during time of season 2 it makes it around 15 years.
@shauntempley9757
@shauntempley9757 Жыл бұрын
I think she is being decommissioned because of her age as you think. I, however, believe that the next Enterprise after her will be a upgraded version of the Odyssey. With the Sojourner, Yorktown, Lexington dreadnought and Endeavour subvariants, their is plenty to choose from. They could easily Cristen her the Enterprise G.
@jcohasset23
@jcohasset23 Жыл бұрын
@@mrspinner2588 Aside from the NX and A versions being decommissioned at or before 10 years of service what makes that "15 years" is the C and D classes being destroyed so early in their service (in the alternate timeline of TNG finale D is still in service in 2395- 32 years). The original served for 40 years and B class lists 36 years of service before it disappeared and was declared lost. It's already a slap that the Enterprise E hasn't made an appearance since Nemesis aside from an episode of Star Trek Prodigy when it being decomissioned in Star Trek Picard would have made a really great send-off for it and Picard, but if they're already mothballing the F class then what was the point of actually making it canon (though at least it won't mean that STO has to tie itself in knots trying to figure out how to retcon things if F is being decommissioned in Star Trek Picard before it even sees service in STO's timeline).

It's interesting to see little visual effects cues which come from other sci-fi media over the years - the "first person view" with RCS thrusters on the Aquarius, as seen in the BATTLESTAR reboot; the "sudden arrival from hyperspace/lightspeed/warp leading to a collision where the already-present smaller vessel is destroyed" from ROGUE ONE; and the visual stretching effect as at the end of the video, from CONTACT.
@_Pundus_
@_Pundus_ Жыл бұрын
The Aquarius first-person-view shot was inspired by the Expanse and BSG, though the other two you mentioned weren't inspired by those respective media. I haven't watched Rogue One or Contact. The warp-into-Jem'Hadar shot was inspired by the USS Odyssey's destruction in DS9, and I wanted the Odyssey-Class Enterprise to have it's revenge. The visual stretching at the end was just a technical thing, because the zoom in was so extreme I wanted to blur the camera's focus for it.

1:27 Happy to hear that the Enterprise-F continues the Galaxy-class tradition of having a positively absurd max crew capacity for its size. Space for up to 2,500?? The thing's a _kilometer long!_ You could probably fit 10,000 people in the hallways alone!
@BrowncoatFairy
@BrowncoatFairy Жыл бұрын
i dont think "capacity" refers to how many bodies you could physically cram in there like 1950s teenagers in a phone booth. it's more about how much food, air, shelter, sanitation, etc could be provided.

You could give a two-bedroom suite to tens of thousands before running out of room on a kilometer-long ship. .

That was amazing. I really enjoy the attempts at explanation of Picard's early Odyssey class being present despite being launched in Star Trek Online in 2409, 28 years later. Now there's just the mistake of the U.S.S. Verity being mis-registered as NCC-97000 on the comic it came from, whereas that registry is held here and in STO by the U.S.S. Odyssey, first of the class. I absolutely love this ship. I was never a huge fan of the original Block I style, but the Block II refit Yorktown class is now one of my favorite ships in all of Starfleet. My flagship in STO uses that hull, even if it's technically the tactical Endeavor class refit. And a pretty flimsy explanation for why she's being decommissioned (instead of repaired or refitted) after only 16 years of service. But outwardly she looks perfect and is able to leave Spacedock under her own power. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ Same with the Titan. She's not worth repairing or refitting, but enough of her components are reusable that we're going to call this *completely different spaceframe* a *refit* just so Shaw can make a joke about Riker's jazz collection. ಠಿ_ಠ

As I understand these licensing agreements, so long as Cryptic is in business and has the Star Trek license, Paramount doesn't own the STO ships (Paramount evidently has some restrictions in allowing Cryptic to use designs made by studios/publishers that have long gone out of business). So the F in the show was acknowledging Cryptic's help in seasons 2 and 3, but Paramount were never going to allow the current ongoing Enterprise be a design they didn't own.

I believe this might be Dan's last narration job, at least for a long while. Cheers and fair winds, then, for 7 years counting, and perhaps in 7 years more we'll hear Dan again. Best of luck to Hooj going forwards!

I think one of my favorite aesthetic parts of the ship is the white and black color scheme. It combines the impressive scale and technology of the federation in the 25th century with a classic NASA, space age black and white.

ironic, the newest Enterprise becomes a member of a class called Yorktown, which feels like CV-5 and CV-6 all over again.

Question: the Shuttles in star trek are use only for transporte or they can be use to fight other ships ?

At 4:28 during the "Battle of Midnight" scene, in the top left of the shot, what's that ship that warps in, starts firing its (non-beam) weapons and then comes to port just as the scene changes? 😎 There are some really awesome-looking ships right the way through this video. 👍

Do you think that the beloved Odyssey-class Star Cruisers and its sub-variants such as Yorktown still exists in the 31st century?

Nothing is worse than the look of those forward swept nacelle pylons. Nice video. I'll have to see which ship visual that is.

Even though the video mentions the Enterprise-F getting a refit to the Yorktown-class variant of the Odyssey-class, the video didn't show this variant which I see as the superior variant of the class.
