That's why the senior staff don't get along with each other. Too many Commanders who thought they should be appointed as the ship's XO instead of Jara.

It's bizzare. Does Starfleet have a shortage of new ships? Or is it something to do with the Captain not reccomending anybody?

@@RetroBadgerGaming The story is set in 2380 five years after the Dominion War, so one may argue that Starfleet is still in rebuilding mode hence fewer ships available compared to the number of available officers. At the same time, the presence of 3 commanders amongst the senior staff - Rydek, Westbrook, and the Bolian commander - is clearly a plot designed by the writers to highlight the tensions among senior staff. It clearly complicates matters as the 'Resolute' and its crew are drawn into a dangerous situation as the T'kon threat is finally revealed
