I found the trailer so be cool looking. I'm always up for a new take/perspective on the Trek universe and it will be fun to follow around a different cast of actors. I hope it does well that we get more TV films.

I think you are being a bit too harsh. Although trailers should stoke interest they also shouldnt give away the story and plot. We are intrigued what time this is, what Georgiou is up to and why... But I disagree that we need a something to ground it - why always the desire for old things and why not embrace the attempt to do something new. For me there was plenty of Star Trek cues in that trailer but clearly a very different corner of the Galaxy than we usually inhabit and that can only be a good thing.

I'll watch it to see if I like it. I hope it is not like the newer Star Trek movies, which seemed to be mostly focused on shooting and exploding things. I prefer a good plot with a good script.

The ship with the blue nacelles which look like it’s going through a circle type worm hole that design is very clearly in the DSC discovery era it looks like a section 31 type vessel of the season 2 DSC era!!!

It is after all a section 31 movie so I don’t expect to see Star Fleet vessels featured. Really all they show in the trailer are some action shots so really anything can happen. Unfortunately they look like they are going to do the origin story which they don’t need but I’ll wait and see. The one hope is shows like Stranger New Worlds show they now know how to make Trek that the fans want so there is hope this will be very good.

I definitely want to see this. My issue with the trailer though is there is zero mention of the story or plot. It just seems like a “look at me” trailer rather than a “this is why you should watch” trailer.

Personally, I think that if it's visually different, but the story and characters remain grounded in the Trek universe then that's ok. Now with what this show is presenting, Section 31, that might be a tough thing to pull off. I've long wanted to see other parts of the Trek universe, outside of Starfleet but within the Federation. I'm not sure this is it, but I am glad to see something other than Starfleet being presented.

Lets remember that this isn't really Starfleet, directly, and it's going to have a definitely have a different look to it's characters, tech and ships. To be locked into one look for ST and it's universe is to be such a purist that you can't see and enjoy the show and it's ambition to push the edge of what we know as Star Trek.

Seems to me a Section 31 story should, by definition, have little connection to traditional Star Trek tropes though I'm sure there are connections, we're just not seeing them in the trailer.

well the whole thing about this show or movie is that its undercover so they really would be be using anything out in the open that is Star Treky ( federation and other related tech ) the would be using other none fed tech lol out of all the star trek characters accept for Q since the original is Gorgeo she is my fav out of all of them from STNG to now

It's one thing not to visually "look" like Star Trek. It's quite another to not have the "soul" of Star Trek. The latter, for me, is the most important aspect that this trailer is completely devoid of. Indeed, all of Nu Trek post 2009 has lost this core spirit of Star Trek. The recent OTOY short film "Unification" demonstrates that contrast in spades. The writers of Secret Hideout do not understand Star Trek and do not have the talent to write for Star Trek.

This I disagree. There is one thing in the trailer that does tie into Star Trek and it’s that little box with the Star Fleet emblem inside. Maybe more to come that will tie it in. You are not going to see any Star Fleet ships because they are in deep cover and in different ships showing that they are the Federation. When cops, for example, go into deep cover do they ride around in Police Cars? But what bothers me is when does all take place? From Discovery the Guardian.of Forever sent her back 500 years. So that brings us at the 27th century or the 2600 to 2699.

I'm wondering when and where in the timeline this is set? I'm assuming it's somewhere around the Picard series era judging by the spacecraft in the trailer. This is what star wars done well on it still has the same look but still manage to make it modern and new with all there shows and films . Strange new worlds is the only show that look's like star trek everything else that came before has just been using the trek brand name. Another so called star trek film that i wont be watching and i doubt neither will a lot of other people by the looks of it. i can see this getting a lot of criticism just like Picard and discovery did for being not trek and bad story all over again when will these people learn

S3 of Picard was a disaster. The only saving grace was the TNG crew in it. As for the story it was so crap i was bored by the 3rd episode and the Villain was so bad (No Offence to Amanda Plummer as she could only do her best with suck a badly written character.)

I think Star Trek tries too hard connecting the dots in canon. Lower Decks is the worst with all the blatant references. One reason i liked Discovery after they moved into the future, canon almost disappeared and they were able to be reasonably free of it.
