@@Mrsecurity2013 Yeah. Kind of ironic how well Brent Spiner played a wise and doting father considering that he probably didn't have any children of his own at the time.

You have to give props to Hallie Todd for putting together such a great acting performance as Lal, that's not an easy performance to do and look convincing, she was wonderful in this episode.

I wonder how old she was when she played Lal. Brent Spiner himself looked pretty young so she couldn't have been more than a teenager.

@@ElmerFudd16 Lol, pretty ironic. That's only 10 years younger than Spiner himself. They should have played brother and sister instead.

What an episode!! Sweet, funny, and ultimately one of the most heartbreaking. Two androids, one who doesn't think he feels, making thousands (or more) people tear up by the end.

TNG was such a great show and Data was an excellent foil for exploring the meaning of humanity, life, and growth. But, some of the threads they sent him down were just never fully explored. This was one of those times. I get the ending, hated it, but understood it. There was so much more they could have done by keeping Lawl around for a few episodes or integrated it I to a season story arc. Real missed opportunity.

If there were one character I wish they had kept, it is Lal.

II would have been great to see Lal as a regular cast member. She and Data could have had a great time trying to be human together as father-daughter.

I was bummed the first time I saw this episode because I knew from the beginning that no matter what happens she wasn't going to be a permanent addition. In the '80s and early '90s, there was an unwritten rule that most shows had to return to their default configuration by the time the credits roll, so changes were almost always temporary.

Imagine if she'd lived long enough to meet Hugh. It would have been so cute to see her lead him by the hand to all the decks of the Enterprise explaining what people do

Obviously, Starfleet didn’t gain any empathy from the ordeal Data went through in Measure Of A Man. Season Three really did have some of the best Data episodes. That Admiral Halfwit was a jerk. Lal had more humanity in her than any Starfleet admiral.

What else would you expect from a fascist military organization?
@danielblair4413 Жыл бұрын
Admiral Halfwit is technically responsible for Lal's death because he was the one that triggered the emotional malfunction to occur in Lal. If such a thing didn't happen it might've been possible for Lal to have developed emotions gradually since they were obviously a part of her. It was her overwhelming emotion of fear that caused the problem.

The holy Roman empire was both Roman and holy. It was Roman; being the successor state to the Roman territory of Germania and having its authority recognized by Rome. And it was holy because it's King was put on the throne by the pope. As well as it's official state religion and foundational principles built upon Catholicism
