Hey everyone, apologies for the frame rate and the playback speed of the clips. As well as the more than normal extent of cutting myself commentating into the scenes. It was the only way I could get around being copyright claimed. I would have had this video up online 24 hours ago but KZbin kept copyright claiming me, and I had to re-edit and upload the video over 25 times before I was able to get it approved, saying up until 5:39am trying to cut a version that would pass. This one nearly broke me!

I may be in the minority here, but I would consider just narrating the trailer with screenshots given the situation. I don't think the trailer footage added any real value to your video & I definitely enjoyed listening to your interpretations a lot more than looking at choppy footage. Understand that there is no simple answer though... anyway great review as always!

Just a note: I don't think they were describing a modified torpedo but rather a 'dud" to me just meant an un-armed torpedo. Btw, So glad you posted this! Thanks so much for the super cool update/teaser 😀👍

can't wait to see the new season. If Rhys Darby's character was a Q, he could pretend to be a crew member or an average guy getting by in life, it might fit in. The Q are known to observe humanity for a long time so it doesn't have to be revealed to the crew of the Enterprise

felt like a star trek series again after years since i watched the last series-s.t enteprise and my other favorite i cant remember the name of...female captain and they try to get back home again after they suddenly was 75years away from where they were in an instance...and that was truly 1 of the greatest star trek series...these 2 are the onces i love the most.. characters in series and the cast/actors n actresses were truly amazing in the 2 series and i have it saved on a hdd so i can watch it again next time i get sick(just great to watch then..half asleep and in n out between the series n sleep dreaming)Just 1 of the things that make being sick a little less horrible...

A "dud" is an inert round. In a handheld firearm, it doesn't fire when the trigger is pulled. For a torpedo, it would be one that does not explode.

I’m still lost on how the gorn was know before Kirk took over as captain. But no one in Star Trek tos didn’t know who they were.

James Horner used that theme as his signature in most of his soundtracks since “Battle Beyond the Stars” in 1980.

I loved Rhys Darby in 'Our Flag Means Death'. Was seriously bummed when the show was cancelled. Interesting casting for Strange New Worlds. Cannot wait for the new season.

If they make Rhys Darby a Q it should be as Amanda Rogers's dad where the SNW's crew is what infected him with the idea to settle down in the first place.

In reality, the length of time it would take to modify a torpedo (like in The Undiscovered Country) and with so many Gorn ships firing at Enterprise, they'd be dust... it kills the suspense a little if it's just 'have a plan and it's completed in less than 30 sec'. I've been thinking about Rhys' legacy character, could he be Matt Decker, Kang, Kor, Koloth, Gary Seven, Trelane or even Sybok?

The difference with having a big cliff hanger in star trek was that we had around 26 episodes to feast our eyes on the show but todays start trek its only a measly 10 episodes a year and having a cliff hanger like that in a show its just pointless we hardly get any time to get into the season before its all over. This is what ruins strange new worlds and cramming in to many comedic episodes with not enough proper star trek space exploration it just feels to rushed out and by bringing in the original characters in the show before we even get a chance to really get to know the new crew that's meant to be under captain pike. lets face it we already know the original tos crew why even put them in this show its like having a rehash of what we already had before i just don't get it why they couldn't do there own thing like tng deep space nine and voyager did with a completely new cast and watch there journey of space exploration. We already had the star trek 2009 reboot and now its beginning to look like where watching the same under pike with the same tos character's but different actors playing the part it all feels like there playing it safe to make it easer on themselves and copying what once already was and retconning the tos to fit there own narrative into the show

well first off they are hardly copying the characters from TOS except in name. Spock and Chapel are not even remotely the characters they were in TOS. Spock for sure is a parody of the character. I think there is a bit of panic going on regarding SNW and that's why we are seeing the whacky overdone episodes and the cramming in of new characters. To me this is a sign that the writers simply do not understand TOS nor Trek, they don't even understand how comedy was done in the original series. And yes I would agree that there is little creativity here: the Gorn are xenomorphs and there is a lot of pew pew pew. As a prequel they should have had Pike and No.1 and done an entirely new crew without Spock (who could have been introduced later on in the series) and definitely no Chapel and no Uhura. To me it seems the mostly women writers just wanted to make a space rom com and do a Spock-Chapel romance which is really what most of Season 2 was.

@@Patricia599 I do 100% agree with you this is how i feel about the show but all that being said its the best star trek from this reboot for me since TNG its just like you said the writers simply do not understand TOS nor Trek. I am just hopping we get less whacky overdone episode's as you put it and more of space exploration with much more grown up approach story's TNG nailed it as they managed to mix in the comedic without over doing it but mind you we had a lot more episode's to watch through compared to 10 that we get now making the show feels to much comedy in the limited time we have for the season.

There’s always a danger of “telling” instead of “showing” and this scene could have used a character in engineering who was interacting over comms with the bridge. Viridium patches or chewables not exist yet lol? A “closeted” Q could serve as an Enterprise crew member.

SNW and Discovery takes too many liberties with the science and logic. Attention to detail and keeping to cannon is what fans like me want.

[spoiler warning!!!!]It looks like the great season ending cliffhanger could simply be solved by a bit of technobabble. You know, they only have eight episodes a season. You think they might come up with a better story than "evil alien tries to kill me!", like the plot of every single Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon serial.

I prefer 16:9 aspect ratio and not 2:1 that SNW and Discovery uses. Hope someday we see Voyager or TNG in 4k and 16:9.

This sort of rapid cut, rapid fire style is a bit too much for an old man like me to follow on screen and it's ONE of the things that turned me off Star Trek (and a lot of action movies) in the current era. Of course it's also that even SNW isn't exactly the positive view of the future that the original show and TNG was. It's not aimed at TOS/TNG fans such as me. In regards to canon, all the modern Star Trek shows (mostly prequels) are so deeply into some alternate timeline that it's pretty hard to think of them as existing in the same universe as the original series did. The original shows also tended to favor story over continuity (which they were still establishing, e.g. phasers in Balance of Terror), but the modern shows don't care about continuity at all, and for me that tends to keep me from suspending my disbelief that this is indeed Star Trek. I wish this show and its fans good luck, but it's not for me.
