By highlighting character interactions and their responses to challenges, the creator keeps the analysis grounded in the story’s human (and Vulcan) element.

I had to look up the mysterious voice because it was familiar. Lou Scheimer played more than one voice including Lemus. He played an assortment of villains in He-Man and other cartoons. For me, I think it was the He-Man episodes that made his voice familiar to me.

I've seen some He-Man when I was very young, so maybe I sensed something in the force too. 😄

The snake symbol is the caduceus, an ancient Greek symbol. It is not by origin a medical symbol, but has become somewhat associated with medicine over time. Enjoyable reaction as always.

The caduceus is the symbol of Hermes. The staff of Asceplius is the symbol of medicine. It's a single serpent around a staff and no wings. We've been getting it wrong in the U.S. for awhile.

20:36 The first appearance of the snakes and wings was for Euryale (the name means “far roaming”) in a pre-Crete culture of ancient Persia in what is now Iran around 5000BC. Euryale was the daughter of Trienos and Gorgo. She was a physician skilled in the use of herbs and animal excretions. Her cousin was the war-chiefess Medusa ("Proctress"). It is a shame that the culture of the Crete Mycenaeans remade those myths into monsters around 1420 BC. Despite the ancient Greeks distributing the monstrous stories of Crete, the medical symbol of Euryale remained! The reason for the demonization of the three Gorgo sisters and their cousin Medusa was that the Gorgos were anti-slavery and the Mycenaeans had exploited a slave-based economy after they had acquired the technology of bronze (the religion of Medusa and Borago (brother to the three Gorgo sisters) was popular in the older Minoan culture of Crete).

Kirk obviously took advantage of some alien tooth-whitening technology acquired in an episode that never aired. How many other seeming anomalies in the show might be explained by this revelation?

That re-surfaced city is gonna have one heck of a mold problem.... The half-hour format causes problems with telling complex stories, with the only obvious alternative being to tell simpler, less inherently interesting stories. But here's another option: two-parters! End part one with a cliffhanger, and then in part two briefly remind the kids of what happened last time. Now you can tell one-hour episodes....
@ahatfulofreactions14142 ай бұрын
Yeah, the issue with most of these episodes really is the short amount of time they have to tell them. Two-parters for the more interesting ones would have been great.
