my first thought, - yeah we have orphans, we can send you an entire ship load, Hell there might be a few parents on board who hate their kids, let me contact star fleet and we'll get this show rolling.

Well if you look at the episode. The Aldeans have forgotten almost everything. Due to their computer, The Custodian, doing virtually everything for them future generations felt no need to continue learning. It eventually reached the point to where they had no idea of how their own technology worked and thereby how it was effecting their environment and them. Also they have been cloaked for so long they had little to no interaction with other species so they have forgotten how to consider the feelings others. Then there was the portion of the episode Radue asked why the parents want their kids back so badly. Because they haven’t had kids in so long they failed to understand the bond that parents might have with their children. Plus it reached the point that Aldeans didn’t even see kids as people. Offering compensation to The Enterprise to have them and said the parents can simply have more children. The Aldeans regarded them basically as objects easily replaced. So they have pretty much stupefied themselves so much that the mere idea of asking about orphans didn’t even occur to them.

These videos are really adding an extra boost of enjoyment to my rewatch. I catch myself getting excited at the end of the episodes to come here and see what these two dudes are lunchin out about this time.

I don't get why nobody thought to offer Federation orphans, you know, kids who actually need a home. Of course it wouldn't have helped with the messed up ozone layer but they didn't discover that until later.

They didn't just want any kids. They say in the episode that they scanned the ship for weeks, choosing exactly which kids they wanted.

@@illwill1991 sure but that’s one ship with 1,000 people so, what, 200-300 kids? There’s gotta be more orphans in the Federation than kids aboard the Enterprise, so surely they’d have a lot of potential candidates.

Hardin played a scumbag college professor in the golden girls he offered Blanche a guaranteed A in her course if she slept with him and she stood up to him and reported him to the dean which showed strength in character and her reputation was pretty much a facade

I'm surprised any of those kids wanted to go back. They probably all have ptsd from all those red alerts. I'm digging the intro and song!

Yeah, it would be hard to find a worse place to raise your kids in the future than on the Enterprise. Glad you're enjoying the videos!

I just noticed that Frakes looks in pain pulling that kid up off the floor, he even has to brace himself a bit. It must be true about his back injury and why he mounts chairs like that.

This episode is kinda creepy, like yeah sure, let the little girl go away completely alone with the old guy, and later when Wesley wants to view her on screen like the other kids, they're like "no don't view that" like seriously wtf lmao.

Did they ever get tech from them? They blast them with the wave wrap field drive which you see them testing in a later ep. Did they get that tech from them are as always leave and never follow up on new tech? They should get tech like the arms dealer ai world which is so broken all you got to do is say yes I pay and it's yours for free.
