The one thing I will always remember about Star Trek 5 is that I saw it as part of a Paramount end of summer double feature. The other Paramount film was Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. After 1989, the studios stopped offering these double feature bills. So Star Trek 5 and Last Crusade was the last modern film double feature I ever saw.

The feline species was featured in the animated series which was written by the writers of the original show. Those writers considered the cartoons a continuation of the show and cannon. There was a feline navigator that often sat next to Sulu as a replacement for Walter Koenig since he wasn't able to appear in the series. And the species did appear in the novelization of The Search for Spock.

It feels like an episode from TOS, because the crew of the Enterprise looking for the unkwnown. And it represents the friendship between Kirk, Spock and McCoy beautifully. And you guy's didn't mention the music, composed by the great Jerry Goldsmith. You can say anything about the movie, but you have to admit, the score is fantastic. Star Trek V has some very nice character moments, but no doubt the Special Effects budget really hurt it as the visuals simply can't keep up with the story. Notice how he ended with "Scotty, four to beam up", and not with the more famous (but inaccurate) "Beam me up, Scotty"?

Love you guys deconstructing classic movies! The retro style intro is great as well. Greetings from Portugal 👍 PS: you should review all of the classic movies mentioned by Remington Steele in the show with the same name.

27:40 Didn't Worf once say that the Klingons killed their gods? Is that canon?

I believe so yes. I dont remember where exactly its said but one of the reasons Kahless is revered is because he killed the old gods in combat.

Okay, the combination with all three box sets was pretty great. I love stuff like that.

Kirk holding a copy of the movie on VHS reminds me of Spaceballs when they go off on a tangent about merchandising. And they start watching the movie in the movie. That was such a classic scene.

I believe they reference the "God" entity in Star Trek TNG. Season 1 if memory serves. Forget the plot points but they end of at the center of the galaxy and an identical type alien appears only this one is good. Go figure.

Off topic a bit here, you mentioned Coscarelli in the audible ad, I would kill to hear your thoughts on his movie John Dies at the End...one of the more surreal horror-comedy films and seriously underrated, love Bubba Ho-tep and I think I like it close to the same degree, and his direction is always great. May be worth a watch for next years WTF Wednesday :)
