Not only because Marco is canonically 45-50 years old, but also because Tom and Star had literally broken up the day before then! Plus, by forcing Starco and choosing the *worst* way to save Mewni, Star ends up causing a mass magical-creature g3n0cide. Yeah, the more I think about it, the more messed up it was for the show to literally show us Star's spells and their livelihood just for them to be killed by her; never to be acknowledged again. As I watched the ending, I was like "Oh ok, they know the pudding keeps them sane now! Surely they'll just lead the Solarian warriors into the magic dimension and let'em get all loony! Then, they'll "off" Mina easily and convince the other's to leave their armor; turning them back to normal! The end!" But no, what we got was....*sigh*😔. Tom and Star really didn't have much chemistry anyway, I found it really underwhelming for "drama." Also, I hated how Star treated him! -almost as much as I hated stalker Janna and her treatment of Marco- . Tom's such a good character and he deserved to have someone he could confide in, like his mom. It's a shame Star didn't care to understand that though. She didn't want to be the "bad guy" in anyone's mind, but she earned that title through her own actions! It made perfect sense for Mrs. Lucitor to fear that Star would hurt Tom again. But no, we can't have our main protagonists taking responsibility for their choices! (unless it's Marco, then he always *has* to be the "bigger person"). Tom x Pie and Marco x Nachos (the food, not the dragoncycle) sounds good to me! I'm even chill with the idea of Tomco eating pies and nachos together! (In a universe where Marco never becomes a grown man first😌).

Jackie was my favorite character, but they did her so dirty. This show had so much potential. Too bad there was only one season and was never continued. Star and Marco had a great friendship and I really thought that's what the series would focus on. Also, Marco aged at one point, technically being waaay older than Star. Poor girl needed therapy and reliable friends.

I firmly agree that forcing Starco to be canon is what ruined the show and it’s another case of creatives just not letting men and women be friends. They were wonderful together as best friends but as romantic partners they just have zero chemistry and actively brought out the worst in each other. I didn’t even consider the foster angle as a kid but now that you’ve pointed it out that makes it even grosser factored in with Marco technically being a grown adult. There are so many disturbing implications they could’ve avoided had they thought it through at like any point instead of pandering to fan expectations. It’s honestly so sad how hard this show fell off if it was ever on in the first place.

And plus I remember the blood moon ball where star and marco was dancing and it was said that the blood moon unites whoever it chooses. These two are people who share a deep, platonic affection for one another that I personally feel could even transcend romance but the SvTFoE writers squandered so bad. I used to be for a Starco Ending theoretically, but the show kept adding more and more things that made the ship „weirder“. The way the bloodmoon was forcing them together. The way their love is always unrequited on one end. The way both of them react negatively to their feelings for one another and desperately try to get rid of them. The way both of them rather want to be with other people. The way Marco is actually a 30 year old in a 15 year old body, while Star is 15. The way they were trapped and forced to kiss. The way Star is often pretty rude and disrespectful towards Marco. I especially loathe how they eventually were written ending up together which made no sense narratively and was extremely rushed. But what I didn’t consider till you brought it to my attention is how the Diaz family is literally Stars foster family which makes Marco her actual BROTHER. Almost seems like the writers wanted to create the weirdest ship in existence.

Because that’s weird. Why didn’t she simply choose neither option. Why like what wires did she fry to go “hekapoo still interacts with Marco and she’s still a character the fandom and I love and she’s still bitter this child didn’t want to stay 30 to be with her romantically and/or that this adult chose to go back to his childhood to date his high school crush. U r so right here. Ever since the show ended I've realized that it seemed 2 focus more on what the fans wanted, even though no 1 likes the finale at all. And in Star's early years i never really shipped Starco and just saw them as friends, I just loved seeing fun and wacky adventures and didn’t care 4 the romance that much. But it did teach me 1 thing: and that's that if u have a story 2 tell, don't tell the way others want it 2 happen, but how u want it 2 happen. It's your story and u have a say on how it goes.

Starco ruined Star vs the Forces of Evil. The ship wars kinda messed up the ending just so Star and Marco could be together. The beginning really resonated with me as a little girl. I really liked Star because she reminded me of me. And even as a transguy rewatching the show, I still resonate with Star because of her personality and how people treat her, but after the second season the whole plot got messy and confusing. It really went down hill because of Starco.

I never watched the show, but just knowing the concept it does get a little dicy when you know that Star is essentially a foreign exchange student and people wanting her to be in a relatiobship with her host family's son, living together with his parents, they are young behind teenagers, it doesn't work. If it was like she didn't live with them, and they met and became close that's another thing cause then it's like she found somebody she gotta crush on, but that was not the case.

i was in my 20s when i watched it and i didnt ship starco and appreciated that they were friends. i didnt antiship them or anything, i followed the platonic vibe of the show. i think i would have been fine with them getting together by the end if it was actually well-written enough but truly tomco had way more potential by the finale. starco felt kind of inevitable bc thats how we write male/female lead stories and not bc they were like meant for each other. i get what youre saying about the host family thing. i think i let that aspect slide because it was such a slow build up to their romance and they had gotten to know each other so well. like if star or marco had crushes on each other and got moony eyed and weird over cheerios, hey thats weird but years of being bffs is different.

If I recall correctly the creators said that Star and Marco was going to be canon regardless of what the fans wanted. But still the way they shafted the other characters was umm yuck and I agree that they are better off as friends. I also feel like they missed out on the opportunity to make Marco a trans girl, which would've been revolutionary for Disney, and I also believe I heard somewhere that they did plan to make him one but that the show got cancelled before they could do it. I love to ship Marco with Tom but in an m/f way, with Marco as a trans girl.
