man - I have never put together the ramifications of Luke speaking his last name to a princess from a Core world. Imagine the hope and excitement she would have felt - and also the pain at knowing her father will never know the new Skywalker.... so poignant

There's a reason why STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE is a classic. It's perfect the way it was make for 1977. When Lucas did the special edition versions, people freaked out saying why is he changing a movie that is already perfect the way it is. Now people are still trying to change it to this day and are forgetting the magic of how great this movie was as a 1977 movie. These movies trailers are for people who want it to be more appealing for 'today'. That's great and that's fun, but i'm completely happy remembering it for it's original version, which is what made people fall in love with STAR WARS in the first place! Well done with your trailer, great job, but it' doesn't change anything at all about how much I love this movie. Along with Empire Strikes Back, these are the most enjoyable movies of my life, no changes required!👍❤
@angusmullins5114 жыл бұрын
I don’t know, I understand your appreciation for the originals, I know I did as a huge fan in my younger days. That being said, when I watched the original New Hope series again, the 70’s imprint was obvious. Ground breaking for it’s time but suffers when compared to contemporary movie standards. Analog vs. digital. Two different experiences.
@Stefonius4 жыл бұрын
In 1977, the movie was just "Star Wars". They added "A New Hope" for the 1981 re-release. That's my only nitpick with this otherwise beautifully done trailer.
@neptunemorales52924 жыл бұрын
AGREE! I just made a comment similar to yours but more on the musical background. The new generation are cherring with the new trailer but ditching the oscar award winiing John William music that contributes and made the movie an icon. I'm nothing against with the new generation but they have to respect some of its original. The sad thing is they wheren't there duirng the 80's and hope they make their own reseacrh to witness what really happened those era. They have not really surpass our excitment compare with the updated trailer when it was first shown and with the original musical score. It was really more magical way back then.

lol I just commented that as well XD thats my only critic about it. If it was a real trailer, it would completely give out every plot points. Here's the climactic fight between Vader &Obi. Here's when Han introduces himself and why they went to him. Here's the baddies. Here's the empire's motivation & goals. Here's whats at stake if the empire succeed. Here's the initial quest given by Leia. Here's where they need to go. editing skills : On point Storytelling skills : need to work on that

You should watch trailers made for the Japanese market. The theory seems to be that people there want to know what they're getting or else they won't see the movie--they'd rather be spoiled than not know what they're getting into. At least that's the theory, and while I don't know whether it is true, I know that some of their biggest blockbusters had trailers that spoiled these movies a lot more than the domestic trailers did. The latter are all teasers, relatively speaking, while supposedly in Japan it's like "I'm not paying for a ticket until I'm sure the movie is good and I'll enjoy it, so show me everything that matters." Americans and most others are supposedly more into surprises with movies, and therefore are easier to sell to in some ways.
@rrson6484 жыл бұрын
Thought that exactly! No disrespect to the editor, he made exactly a modern trailer, so mission accomplished. It just happens to remind me why I hate modern trailers! If they released it this in 1977, it would've sucked out alot of the magic of discovering the story and characters. Sometimes less really is more.

lincolnlobster well it was made by amateurs on KZbin (I say that as in not professionally hired; it’s clear they did very well and had passion for the project) and it suffers from issues with the lighting; it’s clear they didn’t have a way to make Obi wans face have shadows based on the lighting so it sorta looks like they just copy pasted it. However, it is a good retro addition for head canon even if it’s not truly perfect in the movie, and plays out much more epically given the events created in the other films :)

I’m 48. I remember seeing Star Wars as a kid on opening day at the Rialto Theater in Searcy, Arkansas when I was 5. It was, and still is to this day, my favorite movie. Having said that, even at that tender age I thought their lightsaber duel was...well...slow. Not that I wanted the hyperkinetic highly choreographed fights of the prequels, just something faster, more exciting. I had originally hoped that when George re released his special digital editions, they would amp up that fight a bit, which I would have been okay with, but they made all of the terrible, terrible choices they did instead. So while I long for the day when they release the original, unedited or remastered Han shot first version, I wouldn’t mind at all if they added a special feature where, if you so choose, you could see what the fight COULD have looked like between 2 powerful Force users, instead of a social security recipient and someone on 100% disability.

It’s a very nice reimagined trailer and here it comes, BUT. You’ve given away way to much of the plot of the film. I remember going to see this when it first came out. I remember the buzz and the anticipation building to go and see it. But all of that was down to the little teasers we’d been fed. The secret with a trailer is building that excitement and leaving your audience wanting more. The first time we saw the Death Star was when they exited hyperspace in the debris of Alderaan. We shared in the amazement that it wasn’t a moon but a space station. Your trailer is brilliantly done and for that you deserve much respect. 👍👍👍
@MW-ne2sp4 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Though I’m only 20 and didn’t grow up around the time you did the story seemingly revolves around a trip to get to Alderaan and we have no clue what that space station thing is other than it’s just that. We know there’s a rebellion but there is so much room for speculation here. 10/10

M W I know it’s very difficult to explain but it’s a great trailer but it kind of gives you too much. A trailer has to kind of tease you into wanting to go see the movie. This kinda has taken away some of the joy of the surprise elements from the movie. The Death Star is shown early in the trailer, Obi’s fight with Vader is shown. These are parts that were built up to in the movie but in the trailer they are kinda given away to you. It’s kinda like a comedy movie where the trailer shows you the scene with the only really funny joke in the movie. Then you watch the movie and think “ well I knew that was coming “ and it spoils it.

This is a great cut, but the music is just too bombastic from beginning to end. It's relentless. This would benefit greatly from a couple of quieter moments.

In my opinion, if this trailer had been seen in 1977 including the reimagined saber duel between Vader and Obi-Wan in the final edit of the film, it would have been dubbed the greatest film ever made. Seriously great job on this. Chills.

Every once in a while, I think about how revolutionary Star Wars was. Mostly, just how unique and creative they were the scrape ship design. The TIE fighter and the X-wing are nothing alike, and don’t really looks like anything that exist in reality, and yet they’re iconic now. The shape of the ISDs, the R2 droids, the Jawa sand crawler, the exhaust line of the Falcon, to my knowledge those were all unique and creative. Nowadays, we have something to go off of, some design sensibilities and in-universe technology to play off of, but coming up with all of this for the first time, that’s incredible

Seeing this makes me sad. This reminds me of being young and seeing it in theaters and now watching how today's versions are just wrong on so many levels. Star Wars was never about gender agenda pushing, character assinnation. Plus, to have its leader divide the fan base and turn it's back on the ones who kept Starwars alive. Truly sadness...

uhhhhh, you do know that the entire original trilogy REAKS of (entirely justified) anti-Nazi sentiment right? despite being made well after WW2, its built upon the idea of Nazi/Nazi-lookalike = bad. With elements of Anit-capitalism thrown into the mix and various other political statements the DIFFERENCE, is that George Lucas made these political themes relevant and THEMATIC for his story, they made sense for the plot beyond "The writer/Director wanted to make a political statement", which is the real problem with a lot of modern films, the people in charge care more about the statement it makes than the actual content/quality of the film. Edit: Oh, also, the series is LITERALLY inspired by George Lucas' opinions concerning Nixon and the Vietnam war. He has gone on record stating as much

"Gender agenda pushing?" Why? because they let a woman be the Jedi hero? Go climb under a rock with all your knuckle dragging old man friends.

@@BobTheTesaurus You're wrong because the people who make the films only care about money and egos, very much so compared to whatever social message they're pushing based on the demographic analysis of the day. George Lucas is a great businessman, but his primary intention was never to appease demographic analysis or pander to the social ideology of the time in hopes of maximizing profits. George is a genius in my opinion, even if his presentation is always great, the purity and scope, the retelling of Eastern stories in a new Western context, and the general commentary on the human condition through the aforementioned, is among the best I've seen. His vision (in the OT) to tell a good story of good and evil, freedom vs. slavery, is something that speaks to the very core of what it means to be human and makes a statement that is bold and imaginative, while also sending a positive message to the world, especially the youth. I can confidently say that Star Wars has objectively made the world a better place, and we owe all the to George.

@BobTheTesaurus4 жыл бұрын
@@drlca6601 No, im quite correct. You are mistaking the people who FUND the film for the people who MAKE the film. The people who are FUNDING the film do indeed push for anything and everything that they can get away with if they think it will make them more money. The people who MAKE the film are there because they have a story or message they want to make a film about.
