Am I the only one who, when Grievous tries his lightsabers on the waterfall, thought "What the heck does he think he's gonna do? Evaporate it?" This was really well done. I especially liked how Grievous's thoughts were his biological voice rather than the cyborg.

I love how the temple tells him that basically he could've been a great force user even if the jedi refused him but since he cut almost he had his organic parts removed he cut away almost all of the parts of him that were conected to the force. and in doing so not only are the only real parts of him so small but so too is his overall impact on the galaxy as a whole (just in star wars media in general)

I think I like Legends Grievous more than the canon one but there's a lot to appreciate with the current canon one now. Putting all the pieces together Grievous was rejected by the Jedi because he wasn't force sensitive enough, seeked power and got into an accident which almost killed him and made him into the monster he is now, if we take a bit from legends too we can assume Dooku and Sidious blamed Grievous' 'accident' on the Jedi. With all this in mind I think it'd be safe to say Grievous would hate the Jedi, though legends Grievous is more deep and expanded canon Grievous has some good story going for him. Not to mention his hobby of collecting lightsabres now makes even more sense than before (it already made sense before but even more now) he was rejected by the Jedi and now he wields their weapons against them, ironic...

Not to be mean, but so dumb comments, imagine believing Grievous chose to become a cyborg, because he was rejected by the Jedi or think that he chose to become a cyborg because he just doesn't understand strength. Since way before this comic even came out, Canon has already revealed General Grievous's backstory on becoming a cyborg. Even Wookieepedia aware of this. Below are what reference magazine/book said about Grievous: *Helmet Collection 8* (2016) state "Before his transformation into a horrifying cyborg, Grievous had earned a bloody reputation as a Kaleesh warlord on his homeworld. Count Dooku and his Master Darth Sidious, saw his potential as he led his people in a merciless war against the Huk, an insect species from the same system. Count Dooku was in fact directly responsible for the shuttle crash that cause Grievous' injuries and subsequent transformation. Dooku, however told Grievous that it was a Jedi who had committed the sabotage, causing the General to harbour a deep and violent hatred of the Jedi from that moment." "He had a bitter hatred of the Jedi, after their catastrophic intervention in a conflict between his people and the Huk decades earlier." "After a horrific shuttle crash almost ended his life, Grievous was rebuilt by Separatists cybernetic experts and Geonosian biotechs under the supervision of Count Dooku. Critical decisions were made over what was to be kept Grievous' original body, in the end, his brain, some internal organs and his spinal cord were transplanted to an armoured mechanical body." *The Separatists* (2022) state "Qymaen jai Sheelal was born in the middle of an almost permanent war. The conflict between the Kaleesh and their enemies, technologically superior to their race, proved devastating. Sheelal was taught by his father to use a ranged weapon, the Czerka Outland rifle, and by the age of eight he had already shot down no fewer than forty enemies. Over time, the Kaleesh came to regard him as a legendary figure. Also, around this time Sheelal began to develop a deep hatred of the Republic." "For years, Grievous had been joined in battle by the Kaleesh's greatest warriors, the Izvoshra. His renewed ferocity and determination on the offensive led the Kaleesh forces to drive the Huk from their world, but then this species did something unexpected and asked the Republic for help. That provoked the intervention of the Jedi, who sided with the Huks. The Kaleesh were punished, and hundreds of thousands of them starved. Grievous's hatred of the Jedi and the Republic only increased." "Perhaps it was that grudge that led him to ally himself with the InterGalactic Banking Clan. However, he was banned from using his loyal Izvoshra anymore, and he was forced to command the IGBC droids, which he despised. His demands for a more intelligent personal guard led Count Dooku to commission the creation of the IG-100 MagnaGuards.” "Grievous was tremendously successful in his activities and soon became one of IGBC's most valuable assets. By this time, his exploits had caught the attention not only of Count Dooku, but also of Darth Sidious himself, who had important plans for him." "With his mind completely altered, the warrior decided to accept the reconstruction of his body and returned to military service, fueled by his hatred of the Republic and the Huks. Although he was disgusted by the cyborg body he now inhabited, Grievous reluctantly accepted the position of supreme commander of the Separatists' droid armies, thus becoming Grievous. In addition, Dooku also enhanced his lightsaber training, which made him even more deadly. So, General Grievous was unleashed upon the galaxy." “Over time, Grievous introduced profound alterations and enhancements to his cybernetic body. In his castle of Vassek, his modified surgical, A4-D, who acted as his confidant, always kept replacement parts for the General, helping him design and fit any new upgrades Grievous requested. In that sense, his statement that he himself chose the modifications he introduces into his body could be considered true from a twisted point of view."

I don't like this idea of grievous, a grievous that tries to seek power that he can never have, turn his own body to cybernetics to compensate for his lack of force power. I like the idea of him saying he chose the cybernetics of his own choice to lie to everyone perhaps even himself of the truth but I prefer the the grievous that reluctantly accepted the changes but sees it as a necessity to destroy the Jedi and the republic that not just wrong him but wrong his people.
@SuperSaiyanD484 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but you could also look at it as his way of justifying what he's done, the price he's paid for the life he chose. But I do see your point. I like the Legends version where they cybernetics were more to repair his horrible injuries better.

Although I still do love this comic, but Grievous didn't chose to become a cyborg just because he doesn't understand strength and power. The Force (voice) barely knows what Grievous was before the transformation; the power and strength he once had have been lost after his shuttle was sabotaged (by the Sith) that left him almost entirely rebuilt by a cybernetic expert under Dooku's decision. This can be found in *Star Wars Helmet Collection 8* (2016). I personally believe the shuttle crash has only left Grievous with a few replacements, with which he was at first disgusted and brooded over the life he had lost, soon believed he could be satisfied by making further profound alterations and enhancements, in which he found strength and power in his cybernetics. Plus *Lair of Grievous* never really explained his hatred against the Jedi/Galactic Republic or why he submitted to changes.
@Jaerek5 ай бұрын
It can be both. "You seek to destroy a power you don't understand" is a good encapsulation of Grievous. Even in Legends, and that backstory has largely been brought into canon, San Hill had offered Grievous a CHOICE to be rebuilt into a war machine after the shuttle crash.

It isin't pretty much Disney Grievous, more like Lucas/Filoni Grievous, since the one everyone calls "legends" is the one that Tartakovsky made, Disney only took the last one because of keeping TCW (2008)canon
