Star Wars Attack of the Clones - C-3PO Deleted Scene

This deleted Scene from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones depicts Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman) finish the construction of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) by fitting him with his coverings.
The scene was scraped to cut down the run time and 3PO's early scenes in the film where re-filmed with the covering already attached.
The scene is described in detail by Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and accompanied with lost footage from the original scene.

🥀It's a scene that I absolutely wanted to see, Episode ll is one of my favorite films of the saga and thinking about how many beautiful deleted scenes with Padmé there are and could have been adde!.Too bad that in this case the scene was deleted... like the conversation between Padmé and Beru about life outside Tatooine.🥀 Thank you so much for uploading this fun interview between two great actors.♡

Threepio actually turns out to have a lot more in common with David-8 of Prometheus than we might think - because Anakin Skywalker, born into slavery, creates him to be a fully real (and free person); because he says “I built him to help Mom around the house.”, but that quite clearly isn’t the *only* thing he does, or can do, because he carries Watto’s banner as the standard bearer on the Boonta Eve Podrace (which is a positon of *honour* you would not normally assign to a slave), and that restriction would be cancelled anyway (as it is seen to be) at the time of Shimi’s Death).

It would be kind of wierd that he didn't have coverings for 10 years despite how easy it would be to plate him (plus the fact that leaving the parts exposed to the elements for 10 YEARS would destroy his inner-workings)

Ah, but the point is - he’s not *supposed* to pick a face or a body for himself, he wouldn’t be *allowed* to.... So he is being (ha!) Diplomatic -. *OF COURSE* he knows the box of coverings is there, the point George is making is that not before Padme (The Queen Who is Kind to Droids) came back, no-one *cared* enough to ask him if he wanted to be finished.

Furthermore prequel 3PO can be read as a mirror to Anakin. Anakin leaves his mother at the age of 9, that seriously damaged his emotional development, symbolized by 3PO remaining incomplete. Obi-Wan and the Jedi can't help him grow up, they can't understand him, because they never were in his situation, due to their indoctrination with the Jedi code. Instead Palpatine is grooming him underneath their very nose, as indicated by his nighttime conversation with Obi-Wan and the picknick scene. Anakin's political views are obviously informed by Palpatine and he doesn't listen to Obi-Wan's lesson that teach him otherwise. But his ideas are challenged by Padmé, she helps him to grow. Therefore it makes sense that she completes 3PO.

I just became aware of this scene via the series “Icons Unearthed.” It did answer the question of who “finished” him, but seriously, a box of parts in a corner that he never knew about?

This does actually raise a pretty appalling realisation about C3-PO and why it is that R2-D2 clearly feels such a clear and obvious need to be constantly looking after him and taking care of him, in spite of his complete lack of gratitude and constant stream of complaints, insults and the occasional whack - By erasing C-3PO’s knowledge of, memories of and ability to recognise (and therefore know) his Creator, without the Nietchian certainty that his creator was long dead, and his obligation to give to him dutiful service fulfilled - He no longer has any purpose to his existence, that he can know - *HE DOESN’T HAVE THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND OR RELATE TO HIS SUFFERING MEANINGFULLY.* Whereas R2-D2 is nothing if not purposeful, in everything he does... AND he knows what has happened to his friend, and what has been done to him and *why.*

This deleted scene makes me sad for C-3PO. He must’ve been so depressed in there. I think this scene should’ve been left in.

And George botched the tusken massacre scene too. That whole murder spree should've been shot and one long sequence of Anakin's revenge. It should have been the scene done for shock and awe purposes, really getting to witness Anakin's revenge and rage of what he could truly do when pushed to that limit.

Well anakin made C-3P0 when he was young, in tpm he was 9 years old. Maybe aotc was originally meant to be 13 years after tpm and anakin was originally meant to build 3p0 at age 5? Guess we'll never know
