honestly, I'm glad they didn't, simply because there's too much to include for it to all be coherent. Padme's entire POV of the end of the clone wars is incredibly massive; there were all kinds of angles they just wouldn't have been able to keep in the movie, without either removing other critical scenes, or lengthening the run time of the movie way too much. Her side plots needed to be part of EU, either through the show, novels, the games, or online lore.

@@hobomike6935 I have to respectfully disagree. A lot of people, including me, have not seen the Clone Wars or read the books. So Padme's plotline in episode 3 comes off looking clunky as hell, and makes her and Anakin suddenly turning against each other not make sense in the slightest. Some of the dumb droid scenes that made it into the movie could have been cut to include Padme's scenes, or the runtime could have simply been lengthened to include it all. I'd rather sit thru 3 hours of a good, well put together film, then 2 hours of a film that makes me wonder what exactly I just watched.
@hobomike6935

@@xxwhispersxx2856 it would be more like the length of a LOTR trilogy film, or the Snyder cut. 4 1/2 + hours and while *I would have* loved to see that, I know it would have further damaged the prequels' standing with the audience back in the 2000s if the movies were that long. time was needed for the fanbase to warm up to the concepts Lucas wanted to introduce, without completely rawing them off with a lengthy, politically subverse lore movie. what they might *need* to do is make a "Lucas cut" special edition of the prequels, where he heavily edits them with all the added in content he originally wanted to include. but at this point, it's kinda too late; many actors have heavily aged, the franchise no longer belongs to him, and the fans probably would appreciate a re-release but had a bad taste in their mouth from that time he re-released the original trilogy in the 90s.

The scene with anakin next to palpatine as he talks to the delegation makes me think anakin is of two minds: on the one hand the chancellor is the leader of the republic and his friend. On the other hand, padme is his wife and the love of his life who is pregnant. He finds it hard who to side with until palpatine places the seeds of doubt in his young kind. Foreshadows he will reveal his sith identity to anakin

I honestly like the scene with Obi-Wan, Yoda and Mace better than the final version where he says his feelings right after Anakin goes off to tell the Chancellor about Obi-Wan and Grievous because Mace’s feelings feel so hastily crammed in in the final scene.

What I like the most about it is that it's a sensitive conversation in a dark, private room in the Jedi Temple, which makes sense when we hear Yoda saying "great care, we must take." But in the final scene we see him say that same line on a group call that anyone could listen in on. That line doesn't make much sense there lol.

Sure everyone can say that these scenes were right to stay deleted because they add nothing to the plot, but I for one hope that some day they take all of these and come out with an extended edition of ROTS. Except the one with Shaak Ti's death of course, that one has been retconned over and over again. But I actually like the one where Anakin is in Palpatine's apartment with the Senators and we see more of Palpy planting thoughts into his head after they leave, further adding more paranioa to Anakin and fear of being betrayed by Padme.

There was so much potential for the prequels. Though theyve grown on me, the way Lucas directed the acting always telling Hayden how to portray Anakin I believe is the reason for the initial cold response. They made him so disobedient and angry in AOTC's and then quite likable amd loyal in ROTS before he quickly turns to a child killer. Just better paceing. Showing them as The Team first, and build the resentment, the fear, then the eventual fall. The stories had so potential.

The other challenge is: A TON of stuff happens off-screen in the prequels, they "tell" instead of "show" a lot, which is automatically disengaging for the audience. AoTc does this a lot as well. Come to think of it, Phantom Menace does mostly "show", which is great.

I truly wish we could have the Padme scenes in the movie. It gives her something to do and more solidly connects her to the legacy of the rebellion. And it also shows how Palpatine was always plotting his plan. I don't even love the Clone Wars show, but one of the best aspects of it was how you can see Palpatine playing both sides. You get some of that here. These senators could have stopped his plan, but he always has something up his sleeve.

Realistically thinking, after watching these scenes as an adult now , I think that even if Padme lived and Anakin didn't burn, they would have almost definitely become enemies. Padme, although she truly loves Anakin, has an enough of a strong will and character to protect her kids from the emperor's evil and even their father, I think she wouldn't take any compromise when it comes to the children. Also, I truly believe that Padme would be on of the, if not the main pillar, that the Rebellion would be built on because she really has a potential of a great leader( plus a brave one at that) who has the vision of what she is fighting for and is able to see the bigger picture. Anakin on the other hand, would want to eliminate ( he eventually really did want that) everything that he hated and that has oppressed him, including scheming and corrupt politicians that play with innocent people's lives, severe punishment to criminals like murderers and god forbid slave traders or the sort, and last but not least - the jedi order ( no matter where I look from, it really seems inevitable, and personally, I kinda think they deserved it). Which will eventually turn him to a younger and more powerful version of the emperor, just as the man himself had forseen, and an enemy to democracy, freedom and most of all- Padme.

@@Mi_Anakin_Skywaker yup, whole reason for shifting was to get the dark sided power to keep her alive since he kept having those dreams, he was stuck in his misery when he found out she died, as that was his last wish and now he no longer had any reason to convert nor change nor will to really go on. just anger, resentment, and pain which = vader especially being a slave under palpatine. doesn’t help that he ruined his life as “anakin” so even if he switched back, his comrads are dead, the world he knew is gone, and his wife his one love in the world was gone. i thought with the way mace and the council treated him they definitely made it so easy for him to be seduced by the chancellor, i mean literally the last interaction with mace he tries doing good and turning in palpatine but he denied him which was the last nail in the coffin

People are more willing to sit and watch a 3 or 4+ hour movie now than they were then. So I really wish all of the prequels were longer and had extended editions like the lord of the rings do. I also feel like at the time if streaming services would’ve been more used and available all of these actors would have agreed to make the clone wars TV show live action. Don’t get me wrong I like these movies and I like the animated clone wars series but think about how awesome a live action series would’ve been. I like movies but a series like that could’ve had so much more to watch and so much more context for everything in the clone wars era. That all being said I think most long time star wars fans can agree the disneys sequel trilogy was god awful. George Lucas literally laid out the story for them and it sounded incredible. Instead they went their own direction and destroyed good characters. If you don’t know what Lucas’s story was you should look it up. It would’ve been awesome. I wish lucas would’ve put the plans in the selling contract. Disney didn’t have a plan at all. They just made stuff up as they went and tried to capitalize on nostalgia while also ruining the nostalgic characters. I will say that they at least saw how much people hated their sequel trilogy so the shows on disney plus have been better. They hired good directors and got the hell out of the way. Course, who knows if that will last. Maybe I shouldn’t complain but I also care about the universe and respect it. Unlike Kathleen Kennedy at disney.

Lucasfilm should definitely release an extended cut of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith with all those Padmé scenes in Naboo with her family and with the senators, that really adds a lot to her character and her motivations. Instead of green lighting crap content like the Rey movie, they should do this. Revenge of the Sith is probably the most important SW film (obviously after ANH) but in terms of how important ROTS is to the whole 6 movie saga it wouldn't hurt to have an extended cut with more scenes that develop the characters more.
