Apparently he was playable in the republic side if you bought the DLC maps back in the Original Xbox Live. Only in one map though.

They should have made it like this. Be able to play as Anakin in the republic side like the way we saw him in the end. Be able to play as Anakin with a red lightsaber, cape, and hood while being in the empire side

6 year old post, but it's even more ironic in the fact that with the Battlefront 2 modding tools, Anakin is the default hero for the Republic and you have to manually change to a different hero depending on how you want to create the map lol

The Recent Battlefront 2 is pretty good, if EA didn't abandon it. It did jump back from it's extremely flawed release.

I remember the empty helmets and droid parts everywhere, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever gazed eyes on, the rest of the time we were off maintaining the peace. Sometimes me and my brothers pretend we're not just some glorified droids, all I see now is yearning in their lifes some of us could forget what it was like not being at war. Not all of us are so lucky we were made for this it's all we know.

at the very ending of this cutscenes its showed that Anakin was granted title of the Jedi Master.....so he stayed good Palpatine got killed and Clones didnt have to kill jedi since there was no order 66....

for those of you who don't know actually the empire and the rebels were both from the republic but some few people didn't agree with palpatine being the chancellor of the republic when the empire was formed so those who refused were the rebels...
