you're the reason that star wars is dying/almost dead, games are terrible today, this even released tomorrow, would beat everything about EA's fucking poor excuse for star wars battlefront games, less maps, less content within the maps themselves, less worse characters with less/uninteresting powers, the extreme lack of features such as going from a ground battle to a space battle with a seamless transition or being able to attack star ships from the inside by method of boarding, orbital space weapons that can be fired (by players) from star ships at targets fighting on the planet surface, all of these things were possible in 2008/2009, and now almost 10 years later, we pay 5 x's more for a much worse version of what was once one of the best games money could buy, I've also left out all the DLC/micropay bullshit because that shit speaks for it's self but the short hand of all of this is that you are a fucking moron and as I said before, people like you are the reason everything that was once good and pure is now a pile of dogshit

Frontwire was set to deliver this to us for free, completely revamped. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled because EA didn't want to share. We're still getting an original game from Frontwire that is inspired by the Battlefront games, but it's just seriously messed up that this game has such an unlucky history.

There had to be something wrong with it tho otherwise they would never have pulled it. Maybe too few microtransaction possibilities? They realized it's better to build an entire game around the concept than trying to slap it on in the last minute.

Licensing was the cause if i remember correctly. A lot of projects were shut down after Disney acquired Star Wars and EA took over the game license.

Licensing wasn't the cause. You need to remember when this game was cancelled; 2008, the height of the global recession. LA wanted to save money and FRD had crossed the line by falling behind on milestones. The relationship between the studios had soured for about a year and LA decided to with-hold payments for 6 months of works. Eventually, they caught wind of FRD taking the piss out of their management (to be fair, they had treated them awfully, so not entirely FRD's fault) and so they cancelled the project and had people personally go round to FRD's studio and wipe everything. They weren't allowed to keep anything, and some ex-devs apparently had to go to LA and ask for screenshots of their work to add to their portfolios.
