@lordmartinofleithandcuddy65412 жыл бұрын
This is likely because in the lore, the stormtrooper armour prevents them being killed easily; when you see them being shot in the movies and series, they (usually, according to the canon) are knocked out since the suit absorbs the blow of the blaster bolt and spreads it across the body, thus necessitating further shorting if you want to ensure the trooper’s death.

Whereas Dark Troopers are traditionally droids (though the big ones can also be mechs), the Phase 0 ones introduced in Battlefront weren't, they were cybernetically-upgraded Clones, chosen from the most effective veterans, and enabling them to fight on despite their advanced aging.

@ToaArcan2 жыл бұрын
@@justindestroyer1 Phase 0 Dark Troopers are the ones from the Battlefront games. Dark Troopers were introduced in the Dark Forces game, with three Phases of design. Phase 1 was a basic battle droid with minimal armour, a vibroblade, and a riot shield. They were made of phrik, the same material used for the electrostaves carried by Magnaguards, making them resistant to Lightsabers. They also had jump packs. Phase 2 were bigger, and able to be worn as armour by human pilots. They were equipped with assault cannons and arc casters. These models are what the Dark Troopers in _the Mandalorian_ were based on. Phase 3 were even bigger, and packed with weapons, including seeker missiles, wrist-mounted blaster cannons, and rocket tubes in each shoulder. Then Battlefront introduced a fourth variety that was kinda like the Phase 1 and 2, but explicitly a human/clone that the player you could swap to at any point. These were given the retroactive lore that they were just Clone Troopers upgraded into cyborgs, as a prototype for the ones in Dark Forces. As such, they were labelled "Phase 0" retroactively. Dark Troopers in Battlefront carried a "blast cannon" (also known as a shotgun), and a light repeating blaster as a sidearm. In Battlefront II, these were switched out for an arc caster and a commando pistol.

Hot take: I prefer the idea of the clones knowing full well of order 66 and having the motivation to do it be "do it or you're a traitor." Early seasons of clone wars even hint at this like when the geonosis worms take over the clones, after they catch Barris, they say "if there's one thing we clones know how to do, it's catch a Jedi." The fact that this bit of information overrides the literal mind controlling parasite is more fascinating than "oh they just got a chip in their head making them do it."

I remember in online play on PC, detpack throws were a huge aspect to multiplayer and along with the healing supplies engineers had which made the class one of the metas for multiplayer. 2. Death Star hidden pyramids. On the Death Star map, to the right of the room that contains the laser is a collection of pyramids in the void. You can access it by a section of the wall in the cell block and walking on top of the roof with the jet trooper class. 3. Dagobah backrooms. My memory is fuzzy on the specifics but on Dagobah, theres a section on the map on the right hand side of the wall when your standing at Yoda’s hut. If you follow along the wall there’s a clump of branches you can jump into and if you do enough rolls, you’ll clip into the other side of the map into a large area that has tons of small ponds, piles of rocks, and creeks that loop around the entire map. The last one really spooked me. I think the idea of you being a soldier and you have to follow your orders wether you like it or not is the most horrifying thing ever. Knowing that your actions will cause a galactic empire and the fall of the republic you once knew is genuinely terrifying. I actually prefer this idea over the "inhibitor chips" they added in later down the line. The inhibitor chips seem like a light hearted excuse rather than you being bred for combat and then being told to brutally murder the very general you fought alongside with and just rolling with it because there is nothing you can do. Being told to murder the very person you trusted with your life is genuinely horrifying not to add that the man in the story starts realizing that going to war and dying is the only purpose in life he actually has and there is nothing he can do about it because he was made to be a soldier and nothing else is so depressing.

@@chungle_down_bim923 it reminds me kind of like the movie Avatar from 2009. It may seem funny but just know I believe many of the humans know they are millions of miles away from earth and they know what they're doing is wrong taking over the Navi by force but they have no choice because what are they going to do? Quit? They can't because then they will have no where to go. They have no choice but to fight because that's the only thing they can do.

You're forgetting order 66 isn't the only order. Right before 66 is order 65, arrest/eliminate the Supreme Chancellor. These clones knew they'd eventually have to do a ton of things they might not personally agree with but they steeled on. Also pre-inhibitor chips, not all clones chose to execute their Generals. Some units like the Republic Commandos chose to ignore the order outright, and most who did execute it hated their Jedi Generals. Don't forget, not all Jedi were good leaders, and many got unnecessary amounts of men killed.
@shadow-squid48722 жыл бұрын
The chips make more sense logically to me, as you would want to make certain that as many troopers as possible actually obey the order instead of ignoring it which not only makes that Jedi survive, but now they have most of if not all of the clones serving under them at their side instead of fighting for the Empire. The inhibitor chips aren’t something like mind control, all they do is *inhibit* the clones free thinking which assures that they follow all of their orders without question
@PosthumanHeresy2 жыл бұрын
In terms of the concept in isolation, I prefer them knowing. But in the story at large, it doesn't work with the rest of the plotting. The clones would never do it. Dictators are terrified of charismatic generals in real life because the armies will side with the general they served under and not the actual leader of the nation. The soldiers who live are loyal to the nation second and to each other first. A charismatic, kind, good general is like your grandfather. We know that the Jedi who fostered that relationship most served closely alongside their men, which _vastly_ boosts loyalty. Napoleon returned from exile and his men immediately turned on France and became his men again precisely because of it. Napoleon is the ultimate example of why Order 66 only works with the chips. Every main Jedi was a Napoleon to their troops. Palpatine was that ballsack in office. Realistically, "Execute Order 66" "Did you say Order 65?" "No, 66" "I heard 65, we're on our way." "NOOOOOO!!!"

22:32 Me and my brother actually found a more interesting version of this glitch years ago that I've never really seen anyone ever make mention of. Basically there exists a method where you can, with a shuttle/transport ship, do the landing and takeoff sequence over and over again in a loop, even outside the hangar. You see, the takeoff animation actually raises the ship upwards and forwards a small amount each time, and the landing animation obviously just looks for ground to hit, meaning you can adjust your elevation and position at all times if you keep the rhythm correct. Essentially what this would allow you to do is land anywhere outside the hangar in a space battle. The top of a star destroyers command bridge, near those big beam lasers auto turrets, on top of a rebel transport. It took forever, but if you kept up with the process of continually landing and taking off in space you could touchdown anywhere you wanted on the map. It's not a super crazy thing to think about now, seeing as this game is basically just a modders passion nowadays. But doing that shit back on the PS2 was wild.

22:35 - It’s actually possible to perform the take-off/land technique to get out of the hangar entirely and “hobble” across the space of the map. When I was a kid, I would actually do that, land on the Acclimators, and walk around on the frigate looking up at the dogfights overhead. I miss that about old games. Certain things were just a little less polished with a few more tears in the screen which allowed players more opportunities to gently break the game and explore the “hidden features” or even “secret realms” of a beloved game.

I don't like how the clones were retcon'd into having inhibitor chips as opposed to being loyal to the chancellor/emperor cause then you won't get that chill that goes down your spine in moments like at 21:30. I think the most likely explanation for the narrator's long life is that the accelerating aging is not a constant. It probably is accelerated until they reach adulthood, and then plateaus to a normal rate. Physically, he'd start fighting at about 19 (nine years to get to 18, then one year of normal aging), the war would end when he was 22, and he would ultimately finish out at Hoth at 44. Speaking of that, I always thought that there could be two potential explanations as to why the campaign ends at Hoth and not Endor: 1: The veteran died at Hoth and is speaking from the afterlife 2, the one I subscribe to: The campaign is an alternate history in which the Galactic Civil War ended in a total Imperial victory at the Battle of Hoth
