Came here to say I made this drink and tweaked it JUST right to be 100% spot on. 1st thing, MELT the oil first. This helps it incorporate better. 2nd let these liquids "marinade" together in the fridge after blending REALLLLLLY well. Seriously I did this side by side with just doing everything immediately and the difference in flavor profile is crazy. 3rd and SUPER important, go lighter on the citric acid, Like the lightest of pinch realllllly does make it less "soured" and helps incorporate the flavors better without overpowering them. Still, this is definitely blue milk to a T!

I appreciate how hard it is to make recreations of drinks, ewspecially from memory, but personally this doesn’t taste like the blue milk to me. I followed every step step by step and mine came out sickly sweet. I tried watering it down with ice and it made it barely drinkable, but the taste still seems quite off. I also had a problem with the coconut oil not really incorporating into the drink, but that could be completely on me. I am going to try it one more time, but will half the sugar and use only 3 drops of orange blossom, but I was so sad when it didn’t work out. Thank you for the video though,as I said earlier, it definitely is hard to recreate these drinks, especially when you don’t have easy access to them.

I just made it as well and my coconut oil did not incorporate. I will try this one more time and maybe warm everything up beforehand. I even put it in the blender, but it still is just chunky coconut oil. And it tastes nothing like the one in the park :( I'm very saddened by it

So obviously you do a lot of drinks from/inspired by specific fictional universes. Have you considered drinks that don't come from a specific fictional universe but are kind of common to/inspired by a certain genre or something like that? Like generic high-fantasy health-/stamina-/magic-potion drinks?
@howtodrink5 жыл бұрын
Yes, ( I considered a "Space Cowboy" episode where I did drinks from Bebop + Firefly + and some 3rd thing) but it's probably not a great idea to do so. The reasoning behind this might sound crass but it's just reality, basically for the most part I find, that if people don't instantly recognize the thing in the thumbnail and ALREADY have a high degree of interest in that thing, they don't click it. At least not in the volume that I need them to for my content to not simply get absolutely buried in the sea of videos on KZbin. It takes me a lot of work (and money) to make this show, and it doesn't make sense to make content that I know basically no one will wind up seeing.

Fun trivia: The wolfman and devil characters from the cantina scene you mention are some of the early work of legendary mask and makeup artist Rick Baker. He was a freelance makeup guy who was experimenting with prosthetics in 1976 when a friend of his called up and asked if he wanted to work on a sci-fi film, and could he bring any crazy masks he'd been working on? Rick had made the devil horns and the wolfman mask as practice, so he grabbed them and a few other pieces and ran down to a newly founded place that called itself Industrial Light and Magic. The rest is Hollywood history.

Dragon fruit tastes pretty much like nothing for those of you who are curious, no distinct flavor just a slight sweetness is a unique texture that’s somewhere near an overripe apple and a pear with tiny seeds in it. Typically they just use the name and the image the fruit for marketing so he doesn’t really need the dragon fruit in there.

I tried making a version of this, a recipe I found online and somehow it contained milk, blue curacao and amaretto .... as I didn't know better I made it and drank a glass... I had stomach aches for 3 full days, and actually had weird feelings in my stomach three weeks after that .... So suffices to say that I don't have fond memories of this drink hahah ^^ but this looks wayyy better

A note on liquid nitrogen safety do not wear long pants, or long sleeve shirts when using liquid nitrogen. Lidenfrost effect wont protect you against clothes soaked in liquid nitrogen, and you clothes become negative napalm. Tight fitting jewelry, like watches or rings are also a no when handling liquid nitrogen. As counter intuitive as it seems, the less coverage on your skin, the better.

Rice milk- didn't spill a drop. Blue spidadamanaba- Kobe bryant'ed every single grain. Liquid nitrogen- its supposed to look like that. Thousands of dollars of hard to find liquor- clean up on aisle everywhere. *EDIT* Fun fact of the day: did you know the words aisle and island are no way the same? "aisle" comes from a old Latin word that means "wing", and "island" comes from a combination of 2 old English words literally meaning "watery land". The more you know. 🌈🌠

Be sure to work in a well ventilated area when liquid nitrogen is involved. The visible condensation is heavier than air and will creep along the counter but the gas released is almost exactly the density of air and it can fill the available space, reducing the oxygen needed to breathe. I wouldn't say don't risk it, but I would say to put a window fan in the window set on intake and run it on high to get the most outside air into your workspace that you possibly can.
