Two cool details about the game you may have not known, Hayden Blackmen also had some hand in this game (he's most famed in star wars for the Battle of Jabiim story as well as The Force Unleashed). He made a tie-in prequel comic, which showcases Jango's time as a mandalorian, from his initial time joining them as a child to the end of the Mando Civil War. You can unlock this comic in the game, actually! Secondly, for eagle eyed people out there, they may have noticed that Komari Vosa's lightsabers are the same as Ventress'. After Jango kills her for Dooku, he later gifts them to her as seen in the 2003 Clone Wars micro series. Just some cool tid bits i love lol
@breadballer Жыл бұрын
Ah I figured there had to be more than a coincidence that she also had two with the curved hilts. The only episode of the 2003 CW show I remember is the one where Obi Wan gets sucked up by that bounty hunter and then explodes out of him. Cool tidbits.

Those freaky melee Bando Gora enemies I remember were VERY susceptible to fire, so the flamethrower came in clutch when clearing them. I'd let them come to me and burn them down when they walked right into my flames. Also, did you know there was another little cutscene where if Vosa kills you, it plays a little moment where she decapitates Jango. I played this many years ago on the PS2, and while it was enjoyable I agree it could be extremely frustrating, especially as you progressed further into the game. The Coruscant level was always my favourite because it's one of my favourite planets in Star Wars, I enjoyed the vibrant colours, the ambience and most of all scanning for bounties amongst the citizens. Sometimes finding and marking a particular bounty was difficult because they would be hostile, and you can't move while using the scanner. This game also never really gave you that 5 million credit bounty, it doesn't show in your total earned credits in the stats. What would have made this game better would be an upgrade system/skill tree, you could spend credits on upgrading your armour, weapons or jetpack, and maybe fiding those golden feather secrets would allow you to receive a permanent buff such as reduced detectability, faster movement, no fall damage, increased damage for primary blasters, less accurate enemies and maybe even gradual health regeneration.

I can only imagine if we got a modern interpretation of a game like this, a la Jedi Fallen Order, with all those bonuses you mentioned and even some customization. I imagine 1313 could have been something like that.
@j.m.marshall669 Жыл бұрын
@@AnonymousSWAT it could really dive deep into the bounty hunters guild, but it wouldn't necessarily have to have you play as Jango and or Boba, you could create your own unique hunter, pick from various species each with unique strengths and drawbacks, pick your own name maybe, and purchase weapons and equipment from a vast selection. Games like Fallen Order and Survivor prove that good storytelling in Star Wars isn't extinct and if we had a Mandalorian-esque game it could be fantastic.

Really glad I found your channel, man. Really enjoyed the video. I played the hell out of this as a kid both on Gamecube and PS2 (Controls were a lot better on PS2) and loved it and its story. Just a few wee things that came to mind when watching it your video. 1. In the second prison level on Oovo IV just before you get to your ship that gets blown up there is a mining room you come into with some prisoners in it. If you use the Bounty Scanner you can see that one of these prisoners is Meeko from Chapter 1 and it is the game keeper from Roz's station that put a bounty on him for getting his beast killed in the first mission. 2. In Longo Two Guns (the bane of my fucking existence back in the day) I could never complete it as a kid and the one time I did I was on my last life and I died but just a split second before I died I had got the killing blow on Longo so the cut scene triggered and I was okay. 3. With the Bando Gorra on Bogdan I found the best thing to do for them was hang on ledge and shoot down or use your flamethrower to burn them to shit. Thanks for these videos man I am really enjoying them and look forward to seeing how the channel grows. If you pick up some more views you should defo get a discord up and running or something. :)

I loved this game as a kid! I used to play though this game over and over lol. I never beat the final levels tho, as the Bando Gora soldiers used to freak me out too much lol. My favorite levels was Level 7 "The Break in" and Level 8 "The Break Out". I haven't watched this video in full yet, nor have I managed to play the game again, so I hope this game still holds up (or at least seems to hold up lol). Edit: I'm gonna continuously edit this comment as the video goes on (I'm a little drunk as of writing this, and I've made it my project for this particular drinking session to describe and compare my experience along with this video). I'm gonna try to type in when I'm typing this stuff out actually. I was like 8 or 9 the last time I played this game, so I'll be running purely off of alcohol enhanced memories. In terms of controls, I played this on the Ps2, I don't remember the controls being as Wonky as you described, but the gamecube controller was a wonky controller tbh. I mean it has more handles than I have hands, as I am (sadly) not a mutant. The Dart things are Kaminoan darts, they appeared in the movie and are super toxic in the lore, I'm guessing that it's kinda like a death lazor in it's ability to instantly remove single enemies. I didn't know that Tom Kane voiced the angry customer trying to buy the speeder. I remembered that line, "I WANT MY MONEY BACK" after all these years and didn't know it was him lol. In the first few chapters, the fight with Meeko, memorizing every single bounty in the Coruscant levels, the fight with the gunship at the penthouse I do remember really fondly. Although, while I remember the chime of capturing the bounties with the wrist rope thingy, I don't remember also having to instantly delete them from existence by walking into them lol. Out of all the early levels, I only remember fighting Montross in that first fight only a few times, that may have been due to the fact I was a little cheating Heathen when I was little. (only in singleplayer games, don't worry, I didn't plague your cod4 servers with aimbot, only my 12 year old voice chat lol) I for some reason love the sound of Jango climbing, they really nailed the sound design of him climbing across various bars and whatnot. I don't remember the climb up the tower being as labyrinthian as you've described, but that fight with the gunship was one of my favorite moments in the game. I totally forgot about that rapid fire grenade launcher you used to destroy it though, what a good memory to re-remember. The game really did have some satisfying feeling weapons from my memories. Eyy, 'The Break in'. I remember why I loved this level, it was the first one I got the jetpack's rocket launcher! I loved blowing up clustered crowds of enemies with that thing, or just single enemies that inspired my Mandalorian wrath lol. For a second, I thought Sebolto was literally a reskin of Meeko, but no, they just wanted to keep using their Muttani assets as much as they could (Meeko was sent to the prison colony of Break in [I'm also looking up wookiepedia as I'm watchin this video to fact check myself lol]). Fun fact, Meeko's species, the Muttani, only appear in this game (outside of reference books and magazines). The nigh-unintelligible elevator alien, is known as Wim Smoot, who's species is called the 'Peripleen', which like Meeko's, only appears in this game. Huh, I don't remember the ending of 'The Break Out' as well as I thought I did, maybe the bridge section also defeated little me. I do remember 'The escape' and destroying the reactor things tho. For some reason, I don't remember the boss fight of that level ( I do somewhat remember the cutscene, so I must've beat it at least once), maybe I was just a little Goblin who just liked those levels treating the high amount of enemies like the Doom Slayer, then gave up once I needed to do some weird parkour or taking falling-to-instant-death risks to explore random corners idk. Huh, I don't remember acutally playing the forest level, only from watching the game demo that plays if you idle on the main menu, or select it from the bonus screen?. Prolly Lil Goblin me skipping this level due the freaky Nexu attacking me (I didn't actually have to search the wookiepedia for that one, I'm just a star wars nerd :P. ) I do remember the sniper rifle, as I remember playing the later chapters, one on Tatooine perhaps? I remember there being a Hutt and a rancor you had to fight maybe? Okay, so cheeky little me just skipped the forest level, as I DO remember Zam taking my sniper rifle, and I do remember all the bridges and gaps. I don't know why I thought Tatooine would be in this game, maybe it'll come later? Idk. I do remember that downed bridge that you kept falling on, and I did eventually figure out myself how to get across it. I somewhat remember the throne room fight with Sebolto. Okay, I only sort of remember the death stick factory. I might have tried it, but the challenge averse little me was just like: "Naw, I wanna capture Meeko and escape space prison repeatedly." Or perhaps this part of the game really was that difficult. Actually, I do remember those conveyor belts, which means I prolly did figure out the sliding pipes at one point. Not so much the wooden walkways with the Bando Gora snipers. I don't entirely remember the Montross battle. Part of me wants to remember it, but hey, I was a little cheat, so that might not've been a factor. I would like to Mention that Clancy Brown, the voice of Mr. Krabs (as you may have already realized), voices Montross. So, Jango might be enemies with Spongebob in another universe. AHA, I DO REMEMBER GOING TO TATOOINE. Fun Fact, Longo two guns, of the species the 'Clantaani', is yet another race made entirely for this game in specific. It makes you wonder, did the devs have something against established species such as the Gran, Gungans or even the Nemoidians perhaps? Or maybe they just wanted to have fun? Who knows? Also, is it me? Or does Montross have a weirdly shaped head? Seriously, He's like 90% forehead, is he part egg? Wookiepedia claims he is human, but I have a strange suspicion he could (or would for the more morbidly inclined) make a fine omelette. I do remember spending an unhealthy amount of time as a child walking around inside the Slave 1. I always loved that ship, and I guess I wanted to explore it, even if it was really just a single hallway with a powerup or 2. While I don't remember Jabba, I may not have really watched cutscenes, because I was a little menace that just wanted to blow stuff up. I do remember taking a sniper rifle to some Tusken Raiders, and I do remember the name 'Gardulla the Hutt'. Huh, Jango can fall into a Sarlaac Pit; Like Father, like Son so they say. Okay, so it wasn't a rancor, just a Krayt Dragon. I guess video game rancors are just for Jaden Korr of Jedi Academy fame to fight. I do remember Jango fighting the Dragon, but I only now realized he just fed Gardulla the Hutt to it like some Don Vito Corleone type maneuver. My goodness is that cold. I think the rocket guys in the fight are supposed to be really angry rocket resupply points, but I could be wrong it's been a long time after all. THIS PART OF THE GAME. Roz was the badass Toydarian Grandma we all wish we had, but she went out like a real one. RIP Roz. I'm pretty sure I blew up Montross a few times in my day to avenge her. This is the part of the game I couldn't get past as a kid, I do remember herding the Bando Gora back to my ship, parking myself on top and blasting them from the safety above while they impotently attempted to tear my face off. However, once I actually had to progress through the level, I usually stopped. I did watch some cutscenes from the later levels though. You gotta love melee enemies that cannot climb waist high obstacles. Why do I remember this part? I don't remember ever clearing it. Oh god, did I watch a video playthrough of this game years after I stopped playing, but years before making this very long comment? HOW MUCH OF MY OWN MEMORIES HAVE I INVALIDATED?!? As much as I wanted to say I fought Montross myself and watched him get torn apart by the Bando Gora to avenge my flying grandma I never had, alas I cannot say. I do remember watching the cutscene with Vosa and Jango, but I can't say whether this was from a cheat for the last level, I do remember actually trying to get through this level though, as opposed to the one's before. Maybe it was because watching my boy Jango get tortured filled me with determination or it seemed a bit more well lit, so little me wasn's too chicken to proceed, the world may never know. I do remember that one ledge, that you had difficulty jetpacking up from for some reason. I guess I got stuck there as well lol. Holup, do the Bando Gora start praying the moment they destroy you? I mean it makes sense, with them being a religious dark jedi cult and all, but I wonder what they're praying about. I can picture it now: "Ayo, Dark Jedi God or whatever, I just killed some mandalorian badass that offed like 1000 of my unlimited bretheren, can I get a free coupon to Tatooine Dennys or whatever?" and their god is like "Sure, this ending isn't canon anyways, have all the space pancakes you want."
@wonkehcheetah1138 Жыл бұрын
I completed my review but had to split everything into a second comment, as for some reason youtube wouldn't let me post it in its entirety. I do kinda remember the final boss with Vosa, but I don't remember the arena being so small. Okay, so I actually managed to get to the final room...I think, considering I may have watched a video walkthrough at some point in the past...for Raz's sake... I do remember the final cutscene, for all it's worth. I don't remember Jango also having an Egg Head, like Montross. Is it the helmets? Should I consider all unhelmeted Mandalorians that don't look like they have a baby chicken/duck crawling around inside their skulls as non-canon? This is gonna affect my views of the Mandalorian show from now on. Eyy I got to the end. For as great of a final cutscene as it was, I love how low key the final score is. It's got some mad Big-Rigs "You're Winner" energy. Tbh, I prolly would have some serious difficulty making anything better, so I won't hold it against the game. I agree with your final assessment pretty well. I could see from the way the game played from the footage that it had some solid weight to the controls, without being overly stiff, just the way I remembered; and while I skipped huge sections of the game, it was more because I was just a little cheating Goblin back then than anything. I've been meaning to dig up an ISO to play this game from my childhood. I'd like to thank this video for giving me the confidence to know, that it was more than just nostalgia goggles. All in all, I'd like to thank anyone who decided out of either curiosity, or masochism to read through the drunken ramblings of a Star Wars fan who grew up with this game. While I did decide to subscribe to this channel, I don't plan on making any more comments of this nature, as a nice wine to get drunk off of (and of sufficient quantity to maintain my buzz throughout a 45+ minute video plus typing and editing time) isn't the cheapest or healthiest thing to do. I'd like to wish everyone, even those who can't read this a good day/evening and to do what Jango Fett would do, because I mean he did become a donor to an entire clone army for being the best, so how badly could things go? Anyways, Farewell and good luck!

Rolls and flips when locked on to enemies help a lot in this game; makes you briefly invincible to blaster fire. The flamethrower is also a godsend when you get mobbed in close quarters by enemies, especially Bando Gora. Also when jumping hanging on a ledge/rope/etc, if you don't' want to just flip to the other side, just press the jump button again instead of climbing up. This game actually really confused me as a kid because i didn't understand how Jango could kill Zam in the film when they developed a friendship in this game, Jango even saves her at the end and carries her out like a hero would. Later at the school Library of all things i found these boba fett jr novels that actually explained the conflicting feeling Jango had and how he was actually really sad about it. It was ok closer i guess but it's pretty clear that this tragic story was kind of reverse engineered from the opening scene of the film. Although based on the current canon from Disney Jango hasn't had much characterisation besides being reconfirmed as a real mandalorian in "the madalorian" ( after being stated as an imposter in the second saeson of the clone wars show) which is a shame. I think Jango has a lot of potential but disney doesn't have much interest in any pre clone wars stories besides thier new high republic series set thousands of years prior

I agree, and I loved how this game humanized Jango (same with the comic that was included with the game). I loved Roz as well and how she kept encouraging Jango to find something to live for besides the money. She could see deep down, he was a good person. I never saw Jango as a villain in AoTC, just a "simple man trying to make my way in the universe." He was loyal to Count Dooku, and you can see why since without him, Jango would have never gotten a son to pass down Jaster Mereel's True Mandalorian teachings to.

This was one of my absolute favorites when I was in jr high school. I’m surprised you glossed over the darts- they are by far my favorite part of the game, since you can snipe people (at least in the GC version) from essentially the limit of the map draw distance by using the “first person” aim mode. When I got good enough with aiming, I would take out tons of the harder enemies with it before they were even aware of my existence.

I played thru this this year and it was awesome. Makes no sense why there isn't a Mando game with boba..jango...anyone. jet pack, star wars, blasters..sounds fun to me

After EA got exclusive rights to the video games, rather than having TONS of Starwars content, propelling it in the public's mind, we have almost nothing. Something like half or more than half of the Star Wars games EA works on gets cancelled, so we don't get anything unique, just a few generic titles.

This game on GameCube was my childhood and it was absolutely amazing, it gave you everything you wanted with story, gameplay, challenge and then some. I just don't remember having any issue with the controls

Absolutely fantastic content of the bygone Star Wars games that we all have that lovely nostalgia for!! Please can you do Star Wars The Phantom Menace video game? :) I know its a bit older than this one but I still have misty eyed love for it even after playing through its clunk controls years later

Gamecube was absolutely a powerhouse. 7/10 GC games are native 60fps.

Interesting. I guess due to CRTs being low def and the nature of most games being simpler/kid friendly I always assumed it wasn’t as good as Xbox/PS2.
@fantasyskeep Жыл бұрын
@Breadballer very true! Nobody was looking at that. I think at the time, (I was 7 in 2001) we were all just so impressed by the next Era of 3D graphics. Framerate was never a concern unless it dropped below 15 fps.

Bit of a helpful tip. Anytime you fight the Bando Gora it's best to use the flamethrower because once they're on fire they can't hurt you. The Flamethrower is very effective against them.

This game has an serious problem of places that you are supposed to go and places you are not supposed to go looking the same There is no difference So a lot of places that look like background are actually the places you are supposed to go Everything looks out of bounds

I wanted to love this game so much as the art style is so on-point that everything looks and feels like I imagined Star Wars to be. On top of that Jango is just one of the coolest characters to control and play with. A well written story, cool bonus features etc etc but the controls ruin it all. I made it to the conveyerbelt level and just couldn't do it especially with the 3 life cap. I really enjoyed your Battlefront review and this one as well. One pointer i'd like to give is to avoid recapping the whole story to pad the runtime. To be fair it's one of the things that has been plaguing youtube for a bit now but I much prefer it be as focused on the gameplay and historic context as much as possible and i'm sure many would agree. Looking forward to you doing the Jedi Knight series if you're planning on doing those. I'd vote for galactic battlegrounds as well (the star wars age of empires) if that is your kind of thing.

I just finished the game and then watched your video. I noticed that i have used the flame thrower way more often. Works really great against all those melee enemies like the tusken raiders, bando gora and those pig creatures

Back in the early 2000's xbox was a console for only the most diehard gamers. In fact I only got my Xbox JUST TO PLAY KOTOR and KOTOR II (and was then pleasantly surprised when things like Ninja Gaiden released on Xbox only at that time because it was the most powerful console at the time) originally. Not alot of ppl had them unless you were pretty wealthy because by then you had a PS2 atleast and possibly even a gamecube. To have all 3 wasnt very common. In fact Xbox didnt even gain their footing until the 360 came out because it was a next gen console and released first.

18:24 This was why I watched you video, lol. These stupid jumps had me completely wasting all of my lives. I restarted that level so many times because of this one part, that I dropped the game when I finally beat this level, I was just exhausted and frustrated. 12 year old me is almost glad I wasn't the only one who struggled here.

I played this game endlessly as a child so the controls are perfectly intuitive to me and I never suffer any difficulty or jankiness. The biggest key is never to use the right stick, people are fooled by their instinct to use it but the game has the smart camera system which was quite cool and new at the time. I understand where people are coming from but it does really bug me when it's always peoples biggest and first criticism
@canuck_gamer3359 Жыл бұрын
I always thought that was a really good game. I had heard complaints about the controls but I played it on Playstation and I also was not a regular, full time gamer, so I didn't have the muscle memory that you did with the controls. I was able to get used to them pretty quickly and once I had done that, it was really a question of strategy and using the best weapon for whatever the situation. For example, on the prison level you complain about having so many enemies but the prisoners are unarmed, so the flamethrower is the best option there. You mentioned the cat like creatures from the film, but you show yourself trying to blast them. But one sabre dart will kill them, so again, it's use the best option to make life easier on yourself. Same for the turrets, a rocket is the best way to take them out with one shot. Second, you were jumping straight up and then engaging the jetpack. That won't work if the distance is near the max, so you have to jump in that direction and engage the jetpack after you leave the ground. Anyway, I do count that among the most difficult games that I ever finished, perhaps even thee most difficult. And one last note, did you not realize that the sniper rifle had a zoom on the scope? lol Okay, so I finally watched the entire video and I have to tell you, I cannot believe that you completed this game WITHOUT using the flamethrower. It's either really stupid or incredible and I'm still trying to decide which lol. Seriously, good job man and nice vid, there were some good laughs in there :)

You should not only use blasters and the occasional rocket all the time. Darts are the best weapon to use against tough organic enemies (especially the Nexu, which die from one shot) and flamethrower is the best weapon to use against swarms of melee enemies, especially the Bando Gora.

I never had an issue with the A for fire and B for jump personally. It's the same layout the Metroid Prime series of games used.
