Pretty easily debunked speech though, so why was no attempt made? The rebuttal is that why is she incapable of providing for her own basic resources? If she's working and not being compensated, then the problem is with her employer, and it is that employer, not the state that needs to increase her wages. Since her employer is Padme herself that isn't paying her staff enough to live on while she lives in luxury (which we know she does) then it is her that should be strung up on a rope and her resources redistributed to others. Its always easy to be charitable with OTHER people's money while hoarding for yourself as Padme does.

@@N7spongy Yeah, and MY point is that liberal politicians find it very easy to be charitable with OTHER people's money rather than their own. One of the few things that taxes should be used for is for communal things where resources need to be pooled for the common good, which includes paying for an army. Redistribution of wealth, taking from some people to give to other people, as decided by a wealthy third party that takes a healthy portion of those government funds for themselves is NOT good.

Whereas, Leia inherited Padme’s direction as a leader.

@@jonbartolo8067 well tbh I don’t really agree . Leia as I said was like a mixt between both her parents ! Fiery, impulsive, strong sense of justice, headstrong like her father but also kindhearted, compassionate, stubborn, strong willed, loyal to her principles (unlike Luke and Anakin who were more loyal to people) and what she believed was good like her mother ! Leia showed multiple times that she was like her mother in many ways ! The same way she really does look like her father. Even tho Leia was fiery she also was wise, forgiving and truly kindhearted she proved to be the leader a lot of people were willing to follow ! So imo Leia inherited both her parents personality while Luke (even tho he also inherited both his parents personality) bc of the Jedi path he had choosen became closer to Obi wan (his mentor)

Her children can now only bathe every two weeks, and they have no light in which to read or study at night. The Republic has always funded these basic services, but now, there are those who would divert the money to the war, with no thought for what the people need to survive!!! If not for people like Teckla and her children, who are we fighting for??? My people, your people, ALL of our people!!! This war is meant to save them from suffering, not increase it. I support our brave soldiers, whether they come from the clone factories, or from any of the thousands of systems loyal to the Republic, but if we continue to impoverish our people, it is not on the battlefield where Dooku will defeat us, but in our own homes!!! It would have been also great to see Rex, Cody and Wolf reacting to the speech. Because they would understand that the army would have needed more clones and in the end this speech isn't supporting the cause of the clones, but it's supporting the cause what they are fighting for. Maybe the clones are following orders, but in the end they are fighting for the weak and the ones who can't fight for themselves.

I love how clone wars makes character deaths more meaningful when it comes to Order 66 and what happened in Episode Three. A lot of politicians like Padme that had a good chunk of authority behind them died thanks to what palpatine did. If a few of them were still alive after order 66 they would've made the rebels an even bigger threat.

@MMZERO94 жыл бұрын
Sidious already had his endgame set a very long time ago a millennium back when Darth Bane alone survived that last big Jedi/Sith battle. Sadly Padmé and her colleagues had already lost. The Sith learned to adapt, and infiltrate other parts of the Republic’s infrastructure to where they were able to corrupt almost all of it, like a cancer. And that cancer had become terminal by Padmé’s time. Even if Anakin had never been found Sidious was all set to deliver the final nail in the Republic’s coffin, and the Jedi Order’s.

This one another reason I consider Clone Wars the Bible for the prequels. In the movies, Palpatine's motives were only thought to be a Jedi vs Sith thing. But here you can see that Palpatine wanted political power too even after being a powerful person. Padme was Palpatine's political rival and would have been for the rest of his life if she had lived through the Empire age. So a dying Padme and fallen Anakin was a win-win situation for him.

What are you talking about? How does this speech have anything to do with the way the Empire as a dictatorship runs the galaxy and the Rebellion in Andor/OT are standing up to it because of the way it controls everything. As far as Padme is concerned, the Republic, a democratic system were going to vote in favour of passing a bill to fund the war even further. And leave its citizens to suffer without getting enough money themselves to survive.

It's sad, Padme's speech is very moving and shows way more of her character than the films ever did, making it obvious why Anakin loved her so much. Yet we all know ultimately it fails. Padme dies, Anakin becomes a monster and the Republic falls, sending countless people into decades of suffering...and if we're following the Sequels even after the Empire falls another group of assholes rises up like 20 years later and the whole thing starta agian.

These episodes used to get lumped in with the other weaker parts of the show and I'm glad in recent years there has been a clear shift in that attitude. These politically focused episodes are IMPORTANT and set as much, if not more frame work for the Clone Wars itself than any battle can. As well as setting clear and obvious parallels with our world and this one. And it shows how good the shows writing actually is. That a show focused on war and filled to the brim with action and battles, land and space, is able to equally hold its own and in fact thrive in episodes where barely more than few fists and a single shot or 2 fly
