It's also thematically like the inverse of Order 66. This time the Clones are the ones who feel betrayed, through their entire lives they'd worked with Jedi, trusted them with their lives, just as many Jedi trusted the clones with theirs, and Krell betrayed that trust and actively tried to kill his own men. And unlike the clones, he had no chip in his brain that made him do it, he chose to. It's really unforgivable.

@@notjord317 On top of that not every Jedi was Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Most clones had a strictly professional relationship with their Jedi generals so most were not that close, and most Jedi were not the caliber of leaders as the main Jedi were. Also some Jedi had betrayed the republic so to the majority of Clones it seemed justified, as if there were another Krell. Depended on the unit, some were controlled by the chip, others wouldn’t of needed it. The Jedis that were close to their soldiers were surprised if anything which is why most didn’t fight back.

@@matthewbrune5490 they should have used stun shots cuz those can't be reflected back to them. and when he is hit he can't do anything, but when hit with a lethal shot most jedi can survive it if they are hit with just 1 shot if it isn't on the head, so in that case he could still kill a lot of the clones, while with stun shots if only 1 hits he is fully stunned and can't do anything, so after he is stunned they could choose to either kill him or lock him up

@@Impulse-wu3yo nah because stun shots travel way slower than lethal blaster fire. You might not be able to deflect stuns back at them but u can still block the stun blasts from hitting u with a lightsaber, we’ve seen this with Ashoka. Also keep in mind that Krell literally has two double bladed lightsabers if lethal shots weren’t doing anything then stuns won’t either. Only when he fell from the creatures grasp and was raised then he was stunned.

I find it interesting that it’s Tup who defeats him and Dogma who kills him, because Tup (as far as I know) is basically a shiny at this point and Dogma has probably never considered doing something like that in his life. In their own ways, these two are the polar opposites of freethinking veterans like Rex and Fives and Jesse, who have spent the whole arc verbalizing Krell’s injustices. They have never experienced anything like this and don’t really have words for it, unlike Rex and Jesse, who have been part of the 501st basically from the beginning, or Fives, who has maybe been through more emotionally than any of his brothers- these veterans, whose rage is rounded and informed and unshakable. It’s not them who stop Krell. It’s Tup and Dogma, who’s rage is unbridled and consuming. Theirs is the wrath of children wronged, the counterpoint to the wrath of veterans wronged, who will gaze at the perpetrator with the weight of history in their glares and unshakable in their identity. No, the wrath of children is one that strikes with everything because they don’t know how else to, the wrath that is all the more dangerous to people like Krell, who would have compensated for a veteran’s wrath. Just something to think about.

During that conversation the chancellor tried to kill fives but fives escapes. By all indications, Krell is nothing at all particularly special for a Jedi bar his very unique biology giving him extra limbs, leverage, and likely superhuman strength. The only justification I could think of is that Grievous was younger and he was in his element (darkness, enclosed space, lots of places to scurry to after attacking). RotS Anakin, TCW Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, Yoda, or Dooku...well, any of them would wipe the floor with prime Grievous. Hell, Rebels Ahsoka probably could as well. He's just a very, very skilled lighstaber duelist, but without force -bullshit- powers to back up his shortcomings. Honestly, he's up there with the best overall fighters alongside Legends Fett.

And most Jedi frankly probably aren't at his level, he's probably pretty close to the level of those on the console it seems, to me anyway, and most of them where completely sidelined by their clones as a sudden turn during a battle, so though we only see a few clones, they actually had whatever troops where following them and had their minds on any nearby separatists forces. Plus what we see in the movie probably got cut for budget reasons, in some storyboard scenes it them fighting dozens of clones or one guy literally had the tank he was riding on get blown up.

One of the coolest scenes in this series. Pre-Order 66 but its kinda funny how they all struggled against this single jedi and then later on when the real order 66 happend they had no problem taking out 10 Jedis at once

Lets see why that is... Pong Krell is over 7 ft tall, has 4 arms, wields 2 double bladed lightsabers and doesn't even think the clones are living beings and kills them without mercy. Meanwhile other Jedi are about the same height (5/6 ft roughly), only have one lightsaber and have developed attachments to the clones to where they didn't want to kill them. Its all about intent; when Obi Wan and Yoda decided to go back to the temple and forsake the clones, they had no issues killing them all either so they pulled through.

Nah... don't forget Anakin was leading them. Anakin made sure to take on the strongest Jedi himself, and leave the weaker ones to the clones. The only exception was the younglings he found hiding in the council chambers. Anakin vs Krell would be one hell of a fight, but Anakin would eventually win.

I have a theory, what if the moment where Tup stunned Krell was the moment that his inhibitor chip began to fail? From what I saw, he was the only clone who managed to hit Krell with a blast of any kind. So maybe, by stunning him, it caused the chip to get infected. Crazy theory but it's just a thought that I came up with.

Before his motives were revealed I thought Krell foresaw Order 66 and decided to kill as many clones as possible to prevent it. So this makes two times in the series Fives tried warning people of a threat, was ignored, then proven right. First with Krell then Order 66. Poor Fives man.

....He dies? The entirety (or nearly the entirety, anyhow) of the 501st Legion, one of if not THE most elite units in the entire galaxy, meaning thousands of clones, were present at the Temple. Krell took on, at most, a few dozen clones here. His biology gives him some unique advantages, but he dies to clones ganking him, and if that fails, then Vader casually steamrolls him. He may kill a few dozen or whatever, but they can afford to just drown him in bodies if they want.

I always wonder how Krell would have done if he was still a Jedi and had survived for Order 66. Like if he can take on the 501st and 212th on his own, how would he have faired against the entire army or the Republic?

I see this as a major turning point in the relationship between the Jedi and the clones. Regarding the clones, a lot of them would've begun to see the Jedi in a very unfavorable light. To a certain extent, all the Jedi, even Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka viewed the clones as soldiers created to fight and die in this war ahead of them being living breathing people. Even if it was subconscious they saw clones dying as just part of the war because of that disconnect between seeing them as soldiers born to fight and as people. This is on full display when during the Citadel arc, the Jedi Evan Piel gets a full funeral while none of the clones are given much consideration by anyone other than their fellow clones. And after Umbara there's no way the clones aren't gonna see Krell's uncaring attitude towards them in the other Jedi. With the Jedi, one of two things would happen. Jedi like Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka would see how callously Krell tossed away clone lives and how their troops would view them as a result and realize that to some degree they held the same mindset of not quite seeing the clones as more than soldiers born to fight and die that Krell did and work to change that. Other Jedi would see the clones so easily turning on a Jedi as a possible threat and it would cause further divisions between the clones and the Jedi. The ultimate result would be some Jedi and clones who had really strong bonds and some where the clones and Jedi were distrustful of one another

True. I know some fans have had issues with the inhibitor chips because it seems like a cop out (and maybe it is). But if you think about, there is some logic behind it. I mean, I can understand why clones who hated their Jedi masters would obey Order 66 without much hesitation. But then you got clones who actually liked their Jedi like Obi Wan, Ahsoka, Plo Koon, Aayla Secura etc. And those clones would know that those particular Jedi would never commit treason even if the Council itself did. So because of that, if Order 66 was left up to free will there is no way their clones would shoot them down without hesitation. Did you see how Rex tried to resist the chip when it triggered to attack Ahsoka? That's sheer proof that, left up to his own devices, Rex would never turn of Ahsoka, or any of the other clones who painted their helmets in honor of her. Then there's Plo Koons famous line of how he doesn't see clones as expendables. He valued them as real living beings and took great care to keep his battalions casualties down to a minimum. With how much Plo Koon cared for his clones, there's no way in hell his battalion would shoot him down to kill if they weren't forced to do it. And Aayla's battalion, based off the book, made it clear from the narrative that they didn't want to kill her but had no choice. All they could do was make sure she died quick and painlessly which is why they kept firing on her even after she was clearly dead.

If Krell had simply remained silent, then obviously no thanks would have been given to all the participants in the rebellion, and most likely Rex would have been executed for treason, and everyone who participated would have received very serious punishments.

This is not in any way order 66. Order 66 is to neutralize all Jedi in case the Jedi try to take over the Republic. And why is it not orders 66, this order can only be given by the chancellor or the high command of the republic or the senate. So the Dogma that executed Krell was sent to court for the murder of a Jedi Master and General, without the approval of the Jedi High Council and Army High Command.
