35:05 competes for the worst and most unintentionally funny scene ever. Rose almost kills Finn, then tells him they'll save people they love while the cannon goes off in the background, signalling that all the people they love are vulnerable and about to die, and to cap it off there's a kiss WHILE that happens and then she just collapses from exhaustion. Who thought that scene was a good idea, it was executed so weirdly?? In fact all the scenes with Finn and Rose just felt like a completely different bland fantasy movie. Kylo is probably the only good thing about this movie to me. I really can't think of anything else I like, especially with how they cut all of the plot threads from force awakens off, and created no new ones for the next film to use aside from "let's beat the first order".

(Which is actually better than the film it's based on due to trimming and reshuffling imo) But a couple threads that get dropped are Kylo returning to Snoke to finish his training, anything to do with who the Knights of Ren are, where they are etc. Then you have much less important stuff like the origin of how Maz Kanata got ahold of Anakins lightsaber. We also never found out about Snoke or how the first order started, but that was more Force Awakens job to do even if Last Jedi could have picked up the pieces. They also never explained why Luke left a map to find him when according to Rian he never wanted to be found. Then you get down to the FAR more subjective stuff, like how Luke looked scared and amazed that Rey was on the island at the end of Force Awakens, and then in the same scene in TLJ he's grumpy and miserable. Oh and I didn't mention how Finn's development gets reset and he gets a repeat of a very similar arc he already went through, despite his story being setup to be a proper hero now

I still don't know about the line... "The legacy of the Jedi is failure." It's a theme and a nice message Yoda teaches, but the Jedi were the guardians of peace (even relative peace) for a thousand generations before failing in the prequels. Even then, the Empire reigned for just under three decades. Not much compared to a thousand generations. That sounds like a pretty good legacy to me.
@aaronreale672 жыл бұрын
It's true though, it doesn't matter that they had a thousand generations of peace, their legacy is defined by the fact that they got so prideful and full of themselves that they couldn't even tell that they were being used by The Sith to destroy themselves and hand over the Galaxy to tyranny. Think of it this way, if a guy is essentially a perfect husband and father for years, but then through his own hubris and pride gets his wife and children killed, nobody is going to be talking about his legacy being a good husband and father for all those years, they are going to be talking about how it ended.
@28starwarsfan2 жыл бұрын
@@aaronreale67 yeah, but that example is one person. The legacy of one era of Jedi was failure when they lost sight of their own principles. @@28starwarsfan Of course the example is one person but it's still applicable. Don't.. hold your breath on that though. 😂 I like the Kylo and Rey stuff in this movie, even a lot of the Luke scenes. My main issue is that it spends so much time trying to break down all the typical Star Wars tropes: forget everything you know, we're doing the opposite! And then.. it reverts everything back. It goes back to good vs. evil, Rey vs. Kylo, the entire movie goes in one big circle, literally even, for over two hours.

For whatever it's worth, The Force Awakens was co-written by Lawrence Kasdan, who also co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back, and would also work on Return of the Jedi and Solo, so there was at least one experienced writer involved. JJ Abrams, for all of his various criticisms as a director, is also a genuine Star Wars fan. I think this is why, of the sequel trilogy, that one felt the most Star Wars-y (yes, it's also a retread of Episode IV, but that's not what makes it 'feel' like Star Wars). Rian Johnson is a good director, with some really fun, interesting ideas (Knives Out is great, for example)... but he loves 'subverting expectations'. I don't think the 8th episode in a 9 episode story arc is the place to subvert expectations, especially when some people have been waiting for 40+ years to see how the story ends. That, and I think there was a lot of fat that could have been trimmed (the entire Canto Bight/infiltration mission seemed unnecessary), and intentional disregard for what was established in the first film (Finn is basically reset to the moment he ran away from the First Order), and Luke is very out of character. Annnnyway... yeah, it doesn't get much better from here, unfortunately (arguably worse... Chris Terrio being involved is the first clue)

I absolutley love everything this movie is doing regarding to Rey, Kylo, Luke and Snoke. I have some problems with the whole Holdo, Poe, Finn, Rose story part. But I don't dislike that part enough to overshadow the parts I loved about it. Some people seem to overlook that the overarching theme of this movie is failure and what failure means for personal growth. Luke failed Ben, when he let his emotions control him in the flashback, and then lived as a hermit for away from everything. Snoke failed by thinking he fully controls Kylo. Rey fails by holding on to the hope that she can redeem Ben by herself. Holdo failed by being so secretive about her plan and her overall leading style. Finn and Rose failed their mission to canto Bight by trusting an obviously untrustworthy person. Poe fails by not listening to his surperior officers and gets dozens of people killed while he's hotheaded in the cockpit. But we shouldn't judge them by their failures, but by their growth form it: Luke realized he was wrong about the jedi needing to end and rescues the resistance by the most jedi act ever: Defending the helpless in an non-aggressive way and meanwhile inspiring a new generation of Jedi and the entire galaxy. Snoke doesn't learn from his failures and gets sliced in half. Rey accepts that she can't hold onto her past and that she can't redeem Kylo, so she moves on and fullfills her potential by becoming a jedi. Holdo has to clean up the mess her leading style created and does it in the most noble was possible, by sacrificing herself (not some subordinate) to safe the resistance fleet. Finn stops trying to run away and accepts his calling as a true "rebel" and he fights for the freedom he believes hin and is even willing to sacrifice himself for his friends. And finally Poe learns that his hot-headedness may be useful in a cockpit while dogfighting Tie-Fighters, but isn't what a true leaders needs. He steps up to the role of leader in the cave on Crait becomes calm and thinks about the best way out (following the foxes). But regardless if you like the movie, the theme or the characterization in the movie or if you hated all of it. You cannot deny Rian Johnsons pure passion for this project. And just saying "the filmmakers didn't care for Star Wars" is a brazen lie and not a solid argument. Just look at any behind the scenes stuff and you will see, that this trilogy is a trilogy made by true Star Wars fans. Yes, I have problems with this film. Yes, I fully agree with your description of finns dialogue in this movie. Yes, I cringe everytime I hear Roses last line, too. He had no problem killing others in his personal fits, including kids. He only saved Luke who is his son, so while he protected his son he didn't turn good. Like the other guy said, it wouldn't have been possible for Anakin to become one with the Force if he hadn't been redeemed and accepted the Light (and the Light accepted him). You must have missed the bits in RotS where he's crying half the movie over the stuff he's done, even after he's killed all the Separatists on Mustafar. He did all that shit because he felt he had no other choice, that he was stuck under the thumb of Sidious - his only chance to save Padme. After his fight with Obi-Wan, he was literally Sidious' pet. He was broken, had lost everything he loved and himself, and even though he despised the Emperor he knew that there was no escape from him. Until Luke came to save him, he was a shell of a person filled with nothing but regret and hate. Luke brought back Anakin Skywalker, destroyed Darth Vader, and redeemed him. "Sacrificed himself for his own benefit"? What? I don't see how Vader sacrificing himself for Luke is in any way selfish. I'm not saying Anakin was always a paragon of virtue, but he was a good person at heart who cared too much for the people around him and was unfortunately manipulated by evil, corrupted by the Dark Side *because* he loved too much
@haleyleahann82962 жыл бұрын
In my interpretation I just read most of his drive for both light and dark as being for those directly connected to him-- not for others that he is directly responsible for hurting. That is what I mean by selfish. He obviously didn't get involved in the dark side because he loved it and I agree he does have some regret. I just don't like the idea that one "good" act negates all the "bad" and suddenly redeems that character. Death is almost an easy out for redemption stories-- oh look they did something good, that makes up for everything. I guess they're good to go. There is just so little real impact that way and that's just my personal opinion and to be fair I think this way with pretty much every similar character arc. Its also another reason why I think Ben living and Rey dying would have been much more impactful as he should have gone on to further make up for what he did.

Snoke was set up in 7 to be this powerful villain, but then he is killed off just like that. Among the Siths there always has to be a master and an apprentice. So they had to invent a "new" villain for eps 9. It clearly shows, that they hadn't written the whole story in advance and every director had to take over from where the last film ended. Just one point of about not seeing a lot of mourning during war films. While in Marine infantry I lost friends in Iraq, friends that I would chat with almost daily. Basically comes over the radio that person was killed, you mourn privately, and you have a few conversations with friends about the good times. It's a very private matter. At the end of the deployments they'll have small ceremonies but if you're in a constant engagements with lots of causalities, you just kind of keep pushing. That's one of the main reasons people deal with ptsd, you really have no time to process any of it when it's happening. It's after the war when you're alone in a quiet apt/house does it start creeping back in. It's also hard after getting out with many of your friends re-enlisting and getting killed later without you being there. War sucks.
@gregwillson79522 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong, but the OT Star Wars movies frequently spent time on the grief of the people in them. There are whole dialogue scenes about main characters, and little scenes of emotion, like when that random Ewok gets blown up or when the dude kamikazes the Super Star Destroyer and Admiral Ackbar looks exhausted and grim.

@@gregwillson7952 I agree, my reply was more towards Casey's comments towards this film. Looking back it sounds like I'm justifying the lack of emotion in the film which I'm not, I'm just stating why you might not see a lot of emotional scenes of individuals in war getting too emotional over fallen friends during chaotic times when you don't have time to grieve. This is one of my least liked Start Wars movies. If you look at the franchise overall, there is a lot of subtle grieving moments spread throughout this series. But this film in particular seemed to have so much crammed into a tight package and didn't have a lot of the nuanced/tender scenes of the previous films. The scenes of romance or sorrow that didn't feel force fed (no pun intended) with a baby spoon. This one felt so very paint-by-numbers or like checking items off on a box so they can set up the next film. Where as Empire, another middle movie was actually was one of the most emotionally nuanced with true character development. Wish Irvin Kershner had more influence later films.

Sounds like you felt about this movie the same way most of us felt about it. It was directed by Rian Johnson and not JJ Abrams who directed Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker. Rian Johnson is what's known as an "auteur director," meaning he has a very specific style and way he tells a story. I feel whereas JJ Abrams was more willing to work collaboratively with all involved, Rian Johnson had his own specific vision which ultimately screws up what could've been a solid trilogy. Instead of a coherent, well thought out trilogy, we sort of just got 2 directors trying to change what the other was doing which resulted in a bit of a mess. I personally hate what they did with Luke. I agree completely with Sam Witwer, who is known for voicing Darth Maul and Emperor Palpatine in various media. He said that when faced with the chance to kill his own father in Return of the Jedi, with the Emperor fueling his anger, he decided to throw down his lightsaber and say "No, I won't kill you. And I certainly won't hurt my father." Sam finished by saying that, not for a second, does that guy consider killing his sister's and best friend's son. Mark Hamill who plays Luke said he fundamentally disagreed with everything Rian Johnson did with his character. He believed this is not how Luke would behave. He has since gone back on this, but I honestly think Disney asked him to take back what he said. Of course, it's totally possible that Mark was being sincere. Again, that's just my own personal feeling. Bottom line, I think this film and the decisions Rian Johnson made are ultimately what led to the sequel trilogy not being as strong as it could've been.

@robertacheson59762 жыл бұрын
This is dead on. You can’t have a Trilogy with 3 independently written stories. This was the most disappointing movie I’ve ever seen. Yes, Force Awakens was largely a reboot but there were a lot of threads set up. Rian Johnson destroyed all of them. It was so bad they had no choice but to bring back the Emperor because there was no REAL bad guys. Snoke could’ve been turned into something cool. Rian Johnson cut that idea in half literally. The dialogue is shit. They refuse to allow for tension and misplaced jokes. Luke throwing the lightsaber over his shoulder is the perfect metaphor for what Rian Johnson did to this series
@boohoo7232 жыл бұрын
The thing about Rian Johnson's decisions on Luke is that he worked with a Luke who had already isolated himself and given up on the Jedi. He inherited a broken man. Also, Abrams can't actually plot for shit. His writing style is "Mystery Box." He thinks the mystery is more important, the answer is secondary. So it's not like Abrams has a plot for Rian to follow anyway.
@robertacheson59762 жыл бұрын
@@boohoo723 I don’t know. There could’ve been a cooler reason Luke was in isolation and it wast clear from TFA that he was broken. I think we assume a lot based on where the character ended up. I agree though. I’m not a JJ Fanboy. And you have to look no further than the TV show “Lost” to see that they had no idea where they were going. The whole thing was a cluster fuck. It’s a Trilogy. A narrative thread needs to run through the whole thing, otherwise they’re just individual movies that they’re calling a Trilogy. I’ll also say about Disney Star Wars that given that there have been what… almost a dozen Directors and Writers that’ve dropped out of various projects show that the problem is a lot deeper (ie Kathleen Kennedy). If you have problems with that many professionals, the common denominator is you.

As I said in my previous comment on The Force Awakens: I really did enjoy that film. Sure it was a rehash of things, but it did set up some interesting characters and plotlines that could have become really very interesting when explored in the right way. When I first saw this film when it came out, I sensed something was wrong when Luke threw away the lightsaber. It was a moment fans had been looking forward to so much: this grand and epic gesture of him accepting the saber. And…it was lost. I laughed uncertainly at that moment not knowing what to expect after that. But never did I even remotely suspect they were going to completely butcher Luke’s character. Mark Hamill himself said he fundementally disagreed with everything this director wrote for his character. Because : it’s not Luke. In the original trilogy we see a Luke that is positive, and tries to save his father because he senses a remote spark of good in him. Despite everyone hating Vader, he went all the way to redeem him. And he ended up succeeding at that task too. Here Luke’s first instinct when he senses some evil in Kylo is not to try and work things out, but to kill him? That’s not Luke, he would never do that. There are a lot of things wrong with this film. I could honestly ignore those things. But the thing I could not ignore is how Luke was treated in this movie. After the first time I watched it, I left the theatre in anger (almost like a Sith lol). But after two weeks, I honestly gave it another shot and went to the theatre again with an open mind, now knowing what to expect. It didn’t change my opinion. In fact I hated the film even more the second time. Since then this is the only Star Wars film I know I will never watch again. I just can’t do it. If people love this film, hey I don’t have a problem with that. I respect everyone’s opinion always, so never would I even try to change someone’s opinion (or convert them to the Dark Side lol). Seriously though: for me, this movie truly ruined some of the lore that Star Wars has been which is why as a lifelong Star Wars fan, I just treat it as if this film doesn’t exist. People say Disney Star Wars has ruined the franchise. But I honestly don’t think that’s true. They gave us the Mandalorian, which is awesome. Rogue One was great, Solo was very enjoyable, and even Force Awakens and in some parts The Rise of Skywalker weren’t really bad either. It’s just this film for me, that was made by a director who just wanted to give people his vision not caring about the lore at all. That said, I completely agree with all you said at the end. I understand being disappointed after seeing this one. I hope the next one will give you a little bit of a New Hope, but hey knowing you as always you will enter it with an open mind. Imagine waiting for 30 years to see Luke on the big screen again, getting even more exited because Disney was making clear that he would be a main character in episode 8 by the end of the last movie… and then getting this cynical, grumpy, hopeless, turn-his-back-on-everyone-he-loved, empty shell of a man that now just looks like an older version of the hero you looked up to as a kid. This felt like someone at Disney was puppeteering a character you loved, mockingly going „Look what i can make your idol do! You are supposed to like our new cast, so we forcefully stomp everything you loved about the old ones into the ground to make their new counterparts look better!“. That (and the points you mentioned about the storyline) is why this abomination of a film was/is not just a not-liked but a despised Star Wars movie that turned a lot of fans against the corporate heads at Disney. Thankfully, the franchise recently got back into capable hands again with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, which, being fans themselves, are working hard to fix a lot of this.

I would count myself as a long-term fan (who got turned off only by The Force Awakens). I only recently saw this, and I find it amazing. For my money, Luke's character arc is very plausible and extremely satisfying. He goes out saving his "friends," presenting them the legend they long for. Also, this is not a corporate movie, it is as close as we ever got to a writer-director Star Wars movie. It is totally OK not to agree with Johnson's vision, btw. I liked Luke as a kid, but I also liked many other people, real or fictional. And even though I like the characters in this film, they'll never have the impact on me they had when I was a child (which I think is fine as well). We are what they grow beyond.

@@mapanzer Agreed, to each their own :). Good for you, enjoying this movie, but forgive me for finding it challenging to see your point of view (Warning: long personal opinion, probably biased incoming): For one, Lukes arc/his general behaviour in this movie imho doesnt fit the character we came to know and love in the original trilogy: Luke, "Balance is everything"-Jedi Master, Teacher, Uncle. According to this movie: "Yea, im all that, but im still about to kill my nephew right on the spot, because of this vision i just had. No talking, no discussion - just plain murder that soab, child of my sister, which i trained and loved for nearly two decades. My father/Vader, which actualy WAS corrupted and had already done unspeakable things in his time without me being able to stop him - he on the other hand was worth saving/fighting for because... shutup and let the sleep-murdering commence!". Next up: him abandoning his family when they needed him the most, finaly giving up Ben to the dark side instead of trying to fix/standing up for his mistake (let alone Leia letting him leave for good). The last of the Jedi (roll credits), seeing a new wave of Sith/a new threat to the whole galaxy on the horizon, going "Screw this..." and hiding his head in the sand on a rock far far away? And when he finaly steps up, after having to be convinced for 70% of the movie, he just mocks Ben instead of trying to get him back, after which he just dies because of... exhaustion? Yes, (self-inflicted?) trauma can change a person, but a hero, which is what Luke was in everything up unitl this movie, is supposed to prevail/carry on regardless. Conclusion: they made Luke a coward, negating everything he stood for. Not because it was true to the story or character, not even because there was no other way to do it (again: Filoni/Favreau), but because corporate needed him to be one. They made him a coward, so his presence in the movie could be used for selling tickets to nostalgic idiots like me, while at the same time NOT have him outshine/overpower the in compairson underdeveloped new heros in their own, poorly-stiched-together-storyline (to which they didnt even have a conclusion at this point, as proven by the constantly rewritten chaos that was coming with episode 9). Speaking of the storyline: this movie was one banana short of a fruit salad regarding where it was going (story-of-the-reluctant-"hero" into love(?)/family-drama into whatever-that-space-chase-was-supposed-to-be-if-they-had-a-not-poorly-written-leader into completely-unnecessary-teenage-heist into episode5-adjacent-sci-fi-action). So either Rian Johnson forgot and relearned how to do a coherent story between "Looper" this and "Knives Out", he was in way over his head ($270-300 Mio Budget on TLJ compared to the max $30 Mio he worked with prior) and/or someone else was dictating story-beats he had to met because of money and politics - introducing: Kathleen Kennedy, CEO of LucasFilm/Disney and producer of all the sequels. Given that Johnson later on stated, that Kennedy specificaly instructed him to discard every idea George Lucas had pitched for the sequels, she at least was one deciding factor in what came out at the other end (franchise-owner/trilogy-producer > writer/director), not to mention she was producing ALL of the sequels and therefor should've had at least an idea where they were going to start with. I somehow doubt that Johnson, being a relative leightweigth of the Hollywood-industry when compared to someone like Abrams, had more control over his movie than JJ did. One could even speculate that he was specificaly hired by KK, because he didnt have the weight to counter decisions made by her. Decisions like making Luke a coward, because the Disney stakeholders needed him to be...

I feel that Nerrel’s video on why The Last Jedi is good perfectly sums up how I love this movie. Luke wasn’t on Krait in person because he had to distract Ben so that the Rebellion would survive. And his death was earned, as he over-exerted himself using the most intense display of the force seen in canon, all after having closed himself off from it for years. The movie shows that the cycle of the Jedi and Sith is never ending. When Jedi rise, the Sith do as well, as it’s the force balancing itself. Then the Sith rise, and the Jedi eventually do, because the force is balancing itself again. Luke went away because if he kept trying to make new Jedi, this cycle would just go on again. His failure led to the need for something new

Yeah, this was the movie which broke the spell and ended my immersion in this new Trilogy. I left the theatre 30% confused, 20% exhausted and 50% pissed off. I probably already commented the same thing elsewhere already, but the one aspect I dislike most about this flick is its downright condescending tone. To me, It feels less like a Star Wars-Movie and more like a comment on how *wrong* and misguided the franchises' story and themes had been until this movie came along to "set things straight". It genuinely feels like "The last Jedi" goes out of its way to mock fans for caring, like it exists to call out people for being invested and immersed in the Story of the previous Films (especially "The Force Awakens", whose plotpoints TLJ either flatly ignores or undermines). I really get the impression of a smug and arrogant director talking down to the audience through his movie, pointing out flaws and calling fans idiots. I mean, that picture Rian Johnson posted before the movie came out, of him looking straigh at the camera while holding up a Card that reads "Your Snoke Theory sucks" just about sums it up, doesnt it?). I mean, there are aspects of this film I really, genuinely like, scenes I even love in isolation (like the reunion of Luke and Leia, for example). Other things I'm not entirely against and could work in theory, if executed better and given more context (Leia floating back to the Ship via the Force, Snoke getting killed by Kylo, etc). I'd also argue that most actors really did the best they could with the material they had to work with (Adam Driver and Mark Hamill in particular). John Williams provided a fantastic Score yet again (even though it lacks memorable new thematic material that leaves a lasting impact. The Theme he composed for Rose wont reapper in the next movie even though the character did). And I have to admit that the Film looks absolutely *beautiful*. From the Effects, to the Production Design and the Cinematography, it provides one stunning visual after another, and I think this is intentional: To distract the audience from the utterly confused and hackneyed story, with all its tonal inconsistencies, "Gotcha!"-moments and fakeout-deaths that only exist to make the story more unpredictable and a whole subplot that goes absolutely nowhere. Not to mention that TLJ is basically Episode V told backwards with elements from Episode VI thrown in for good measure. And dont even get me started on what they did to poor Luke, which is a whole nother can of worms... not that the new characters fare any better: Poe got wrecked and no one in the writing team apperantly knew what to do with Finn. What a heap of wasted potential, like this entire Trilogy. And it only gets worse from here.

Apparently, the message of TLJ is "Whatever you cared about in the past is probably wrong, and never meet your heroes, because they suck too." That doesn't sound like Star Wars to me.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. You pretty much summed it all up, at least for how I feel about it. Well done, well done indeed.

39:15 Make sure you look really close when the stable boy "picks up" the broom. He reaches toward it, and it lifts off the wall and moves into his hand. He uses the Force.

The little movement held so much potential -- the whole concept that Jedi's don't have to come from a lineage -- but they did nothing with it. UGH!

Ironic considering he directed the worst Star Wars trilogy

@@SDfan2002 ???? The originals have problems but are good. The prequels get hokey but still stand up. The only trilogy that stuffs up the entire franchise and disillusioned the fans was the sequels

@@jonrivers7779 The originals are FANTASTIC (minus Return of the Jedi) The SEQUELS manage to recapture the feeling of the Originals once again. The Prequels DON’T get hokey…. they get fucking BORING.

@@SDfan2002 OK you truly have got it about face and it sounds like you are one of the newbies who doesnt realise the entire fanbase from the originals is disgusted with the sequels. The originals were great including RoTJ, but as Harrison Ford said the script and some of decision making was far from great. It holds up because of the story. RoTJ is normally criticised simply because of the Ewoks. You have to realise these were supposed to be Wookies and Lucas made a last minute change as he spent three films developing Chewbacca as an engineering genius, he couldnt then portray Wookies as a backward species. If you look at the attack on the Death Star 2 and Jabba's palace, most people still love that film also. The prequels could get boring - there were large sections of the battle of Coruscant where it was largely irrelevant. The politics which most newbies complain about though was essential and developed the whole background ethos to the galaxy. Jar Jar Binks was annoying but there was a need for some comic foil as these were the first Star Wars films where someone from the main gang could be killed. Overall they did OK. The sequels. Jeez. Bad acting (compare Daisy Ridley to Felicity Jones in Rogue One). Fin's character development was repeatedly started down one line only to be stopped, started down another and then halted again. He therefore became just the token black side kick in one of the most racist throwbacks imaginable. Rose's character was created only to be sidelined in ep. 9because of racist fans. Princess Leia becoming Mary Poppins in space. Rey using advanced Jedi powers without any training. The disappearing knife in the Red room battle. Luke doing the single most non-Jedi thing of taunting his enemy by brushing imaginary dust off his shoulder in the third film. The Diad undoing decades of character and canon law about what the Jedi were all about. Episode 7 just being a case of lets cram all the things from other star wars films into one and hoping for the best. A fleet of Star destroyers all with planet killer weapons being built and being able to be built off world from Exegol. Having to bring Palpatine back as if there isnt another force user int the galaxy outside of two families. These films were a disaster and its the reason why Disney arent investing in big screen versions of star wars anymore

Also alot of folks take issue with Luke basically running away and becoming a hermit out in the wilderness on his own when the going gets tough.... but I mean.... this kinda seems to be the standard Jedi response based on that being EXACTLY WHAT BOTH HIS MENTORS DID......

@@BigAl72ZGE to be fair, it wasn’t really till this movie we found out Luke’s reasoning for disappearing etc he could have left for other reasons that I’m sure those critics wouldn’t have minded (but I’m sure plenty of folks would have taken issue whatever the case, you can never please everyone eh? ;)
