I can confirm it was in clone wars, used by the leader of death watch on the moon of mandalore. It was his main weapon. Once he was killed by maul, it was passed to him for a brief minute which was awesome, and they either forgot about it or hid it away after that, because he goes back to his double edged lightsaber.

The legacy and the Savi Workshop sabers don't have smooth swing. The actuall size of the hilts wont acomodate a neo/plecter blade either. They are really more for a collector I suppose.

I feel the last 3 hilts Disney has done, they have cheaped out with them: Rey: McDonalds ignition switch and not making the triangles on the tip mechanical Leia: the bottom of the hilt looks more like orange than the copper tip Darksaber: the box couldn’t be plastic, the hilt needed a special stand and the stand included is just very cheap plastic, and the blade doesn’t light all the way to the tip, and the black of the darksaber has no cracks in the black (This is all my opinions)

I do agree with some of what your saying, but I think Disney is not to blame for reys manual tips because that sounds really difficult to make them move on there own and would probably make the lightsaber weigh a lot more. Also I think the price of the dark saber isn't to bad given the fact that it comes with a blade and stand (even if the stand is crap). I actually like the orange of Leia's lightsaber because I love the color orange, but I understand why people disagree.

The dark saber in Star Wars is personally my favorite lightsaber, so it’s very off putting that the blade is mostly the light, with a hint of black. You’d think for something hundred dollars that thing will sell for they’d at least make the blade look right.

Yeah pretty sure ours had a tiny sliver of plastic in the hole which is why the blade got stuck. I doubt that’s a major issue. It seemed like just a tiny sliver of plastic from the factory. Your tape job looks much better than how it came out of the box

Watching your review as my first impression of it i was more than shocked to see how the blade looked with waaaaaay to much white edge. The look on your faces of disappointment said a lot too. How easy it would have been for Disney to put a nice slick black plastic with some lighting cuts in it to shine through the middle of the blade and viola! Much better. Sorry but Hell to the no Disney am I paying $200 for that.

To quote Director Krennic: We were on the verge of greatness. We were THIS close. From seeing other reviews, I feel that for a first attempt at a high end Darksaber, this was decent and not bad for a first try. In all honest the hilt doesn’t look too bad and I feel won’t bother some folks. I can’t speak for the box but I know plenty are bummed it’s just cardboard. Unfortunately what utterly kills my excitement for this is the blade. The black/white ratio is way off with the black too thin. The light shining through the blade also doesn’t look terribly impressive. The tape shown in your photo is a good fix, but it feels like such an unecessary thing that shoulda been good at the start. We also can’t say for sure that the upcoming Hasbro Force FX one will look better because we’ve yet to see it in action beyond a doctored advertisement photo.

I have a huge lightsaber collection at home. My spare bedroom is decorated in starwars. This saber makes a fine addition. There are some things I wish were different but still happy! I like the weight and the feel of the saber in my hand. I also like how fast the blade activates and deactivates.

Ikr they didn't even bother to make the grip the same shape as the actual darksaber since the darksaber hilt is supposed to be rectangular not round. I'm guessing they did this because they were too cheap to make new molds.

But even then I'm pretty sure it being uncomfortable wasn't the issue because they could have fixed it by just adding rubber cushions on the corner plus it isn't a real weapon so how it wields shouldn't be a problem especially since the actors using it wear gloves and they don't use hard props.

As a fan of the Darksaber, and a lightsaber collector, I definitely plan on purchasing one, simply to just compare and contrast it with the Hasbro Elite FX version. That being said, I agree that there are several glaring flaws with the Legacy version, and I’ll personally be recommending anyone who seems interested in the Darksaber, to order a Hasbro Elite FX version instead, as the price difference is a mere $50, yet it appears that nearly all the negatives will be fixed, and hopefully some ones that James didn’t even touch on, like the Segmented illumination of the blade, (something that all Force FX and Legacy lightsabers have, but that Elite FX don’t have), and the odd bit when retracting the blade where the lightsaber’s hum cuts out and then the retraction sound plays Speaking of the sound font, I think it’s a shame that the Legacy Darksaber only has one ignition sound, when in the shows, The Darksaber has had at least 3 different ignition sounds, with extra pitch shifted variants of 2 of the normal sounds.

@@schmutzonya5659 I’m confident that the Hasbro replica will be better, because I currently own the other 3 Elite FX sabers, and have seen the video reveal of the 4th, soon to be released Elite FX saber (The Ahsoka TCW one). And I’m personally quite impressed with the quality of the Elite FX sabers. They seem to be Hasbro’s premium line, when it comes to movie/screen accurate sabers that offer a lot of additional features that the Legacy or Standard Force FX series dont have

Every lightsaber sounds the same and they often have far more screen-accurate errors as far as sizing and detailing goes than the Legacies do. You’re paying an up charge for additional, yet generic, sound and lighting effects. There are pros and cons to both and there is still no way even based on existing comparisons to say that Hasbro will be better.

But the Kylo Ren saber has 2 different ignitions and both are accurate to the movie, and considering that the Legacy Darksaber also uses a unique sound font, I’d be willing to bet that the Elite FX Darksaber will as well (and will likely be better than the Legacy version.) As far as the “Screen Accurate Sizing and Detailing Errors”, I have to disagree with you on those because as far as I’ve noticed, the Elite FX series of lightsabers are the closest to their movie counterparts. (Those being the Kylo Ren and Sideous hilts specifically, as the Reven and Ahsoka hilts have never been seen in live action). As for the generic Hasbro Force FX line, I still think that the Force FX are of a similar level of detail and quality, compared to the Legacy series, and the only drawbacks that the Force FX suffer from is the lack a Flash On Clash function, and the ability to remove their blades. However, the Elite FX series does offers removable blades, along with blade plugs that usually offer a secondary function, such as Kylo Ren’s blade plugs having small red crystals, visible in the emitters, or the Revan and Ahsoka ones having removable Kyber crystals that glow temporarily after being removed. All that is to say that I still believe the Elite FX series offer way more features than the Legacy series, so I’d be confident in assuming that the Elite FX Darksaber would be more impressive than the Legacy Series version, as that’s been the case with both the Kylo Ren, and the Ahsoka TCW versions.

Why would Legacy DS having one say anything about the Elite? That’s pure conjecture and again isn’t really based on any sound reasoning. The bottom line is that we have yet to see the Elite DS actually operate or exist in any space beyond very specifically curated photos to make it look as good as humanly possible. Think how a McDonald’s burger looks in person vs an advertisement. Hell, I’d be willing to be that there is some sort of notice that the product is subject to change on/in regards to those photos. But here we are with everyone claiming for sure that it’s going to be better for 50 dollars more without even actually seeing a video of the thing operate. Like, I’m definitely willing to say it could be, but the level of certainty I’m seeing in the comments of this video is approaching hilarity.

The black tape is a nice touch, maybe you could use an exacto knife to carefully carve out the “cracks” on the tape so it looks accurate. I have the hasbro one.

Sir James here's something you may be interested in, there are airsoft replicas of some of the blasters out there, from what I seen there are 3 at least: A180, DL-44 and E-11. Sadly they are sold out on most sites by now but found one which has the A180 and DL-44 still in stock, it's kyairsoft. They also offer a option to modify them for cosplay. Ordered myself the A180 recently.

At around 8:54 you mention the size of the emitter and the handle should be the same size. Aesthetically, I agree with you, but in actuality, the prop used on BOBF by Mando actually has the same size difference as the Galaxy's Edge saber. So as far as it's dimensions... it's accurate. However, paint/finish wise... it's off a bit.

Depends on what you ordered. Full builds can take up to 8 months to ship. They're not a wholesaler like some of the popular lightsaber sellers are, they are hilt artisans, so the more work needed, the longer the build and lead time needed.

I think you could also get like a knife or something and cut thin zig-zagging lines through the black tape to get that lightning effect the dark saber has on-screen

i believe that why the top and bottom is a different sizes is because thats how is like in the mandalorian which is the most modern version.

That clear stand included with the Darksaber is the same one that I got with my Disney Park’s saber. The Disney Park’s sabers were pretty much prototypes of the Legacy sabers sold in the parks prior to Galaxy’s Edge opening. They were physically VERY similar, but Parks sabers had some physical characteristics that were incorrect compared to the on screen prop and these were addressed and corrected for the final Legacy release.

maybe if you got some model paint in a gloss or matte black you could paint over the wheel so it isn't so obnoxious

I think the only way the saber could've come in one of the plastic cases is if the hilt and blade were packaged separately. There's no way they were going to make a regular Legacy case that big. It'd be way too heavy to carry around, and it'd probably make the whole thing cost more. Plus if you're going home on a plane the only way you're getting it home in the box is shipping it, and the extra weight would make that a bigger headache.

A very informative & critique breakdown video on Galaxy's newest lightsaber the Darksaber, Sir James. Few points you touched on/noticed in the video: *Hilt CONS* - the emitter & handle are two different sizes (not flushed with same size from top to bottom) - the cover tech well is silver vs black and stands out - the cover overlaying the part where the blade itself is inserter is a cheap plastic vs metal -blade relase mechanism sticks out & easily noticeable in the light *Hilt PROS* - the hilt has a nice feel & comfortable - the weight has a good weight (1lb & 3.5 oz) but not as heavy as Rey's saber. - activation button has a clicky feel *Blade PROS* - Activation & deactivation sounds really nice - blade itself is pretty solid & sturdy overall - blade measures at 26.5 inches once connected - blade does not get stuck/ not difficult to insert unless inserted in the wrong way (pointed edge down) *Blade CONS* - LOT of exposed clear (white) section - black stripe is too narrow and not accurate to the actual darksaber -light bleeds throught the blackstrip (mostly at the end where blade attaches to emitter) -the white light edge effect is dimmer on one due to the leds lights clustered on one edge versus the other - the 4 lights on the emitter do not ALL light up and ONLY 2 are lighten up - tip of the blade does NOT glow -clash sound is difficult to activate and has to be hit hard (easlier to activate and at twist of one's wrist)

In the Star Wars universe the darksaber emitter is actually bigger than the rest of the hilt. It wasn't just something that they decided to change in the physical design
