The incident was Luke's escape from a tractor beam, I believe (I haven't read it in awhile), and the underling tried to say that he hadn't been properly trained, while the immediate superior had indeed had his people go through proper training on the subject. The execution of the underling wasn't for Luke's escape. It was for that attempted deceit and betrayal under questioning. The next time a very similar thing happened, both officer and underling were open and honest about what had enabled Luke's identical escape and how they'd tried to think on their feet to prevent it. This 2nd duo were rewarded instead of punished for being both forthright and fast-thinking under pressure. That's one thing that established Thrawn as a much more interesting villain/antagonist.

OMG so excited. First, some backstory: I read the Narnia books to my children when they were younger, and managed to get through reading them the Fellowship of the Ring book before succumbing to the pressure to show them the Peter Jackson films. My reading to them was all over after that; we never went back to read The Two Towers or Return of the King. One evening, after being vaguely disappointed at the portrayal of Thrawn in Rebels, I tried once more, insisting the family sit down while I read the first chapter of Heir to the Empire. Perhaps it wasn't the right timing, or they weren't in the right mood, but it didn't go over well. I think it was that they'd already seen the various Star Wars films and series on-screen, so listening to a book didn't capture their attention. And so, I've been waiting... for THIS. I can finally SHOW them the masterpiece. 🤩

@@DarthAngelus it’s part of the indescribable magic of this adaptation. I bring it up because the reveal of the cloaked freighter in my mind was always different … but watching this I’m not like “no! That’s wrong” I’m more like “heck yes , that works”. On the other hand, the design of Carde’s HQ on Merker was almost exactly how I envisioned it, almost as if I was involved in its creation. Just really hard to pinpoint the words to describe what this means to us all. Thanks for all your hard work.

Again, the dialogue for Tie Squad 4 to keep after the B-Wing group is from the book, but seeing them actually ion cannoning a ship shows why Pelleon singled them out. If they disable the ships, the Imps can't steal 'em!

Why thankyou! I thought it was important to show what was happening aboard those ships. The book suggests that Thrawn did successfully capture at least one ship, although it's a little vague.

Excellent work. Great to finally see this realised in all its glory - gives me memories of Star Wars Supremacy (aka Rebellion) battles as well as Heir to the Empire itself. I did think at first you had more Rebel fighters involved than I remember from the book descriptions (that line about 'a squadron of X-wings' made me think that the Rogues were the only ones there) but then I remembered Pellaeon's line about B-wings when you had him say it. Seeing the ion cannons in use was great too.

Supremacy/Rebellion is a great game. As for the fighters, the book mostly focuses on Wedge and we see what Rogue Squadron are up to through him. But there are references to other fighters, such as those B-Wings.
