Will you PLEASE stop being so inspiring!!!!! I've painted more figures today than I do in a month, thanks to your tutorials. My painting is now so much improved I finish a figure faster and better than ever before. I started at 6am this morning, have your tutorials playing while I paint, and keep using your tips and advise as I paint. At this rate, I'll run out of figures to paint, and may end up going back to the Dark Side (armour/aircraft model making) just to try your techniques in that area. Unbelievably wonderful tutorials, more inspiration than I've ever known before, and new ideas for colour schemes/patterns flowing like water through a hose pipe. I simply cannot thank you enough!!!!! I'm loving my hobby/work more than ever again. :-D Paul

I can't say enough good things about your series! I started your series having no idea how to paint mini's. I'm now on ep. 14 and I've improved and learnt so much. Your work and commitment to detail and quality are outstanding! One thing I wanted to mention is that I'm not using Citadel paints, and I am having a lot of fun learning about mixing paints to get proper colors, making my own shades and some custom technical paints amongst the other research I’ve done about painting in general. My experience has been so enjoyable and fun thus far.. Thank you so much for your work!

+Sorastro's Painting awesome. I'm buying all the citadel paints you used in your IA vids thus far. Quite the search here in Europe, and quite the investment :) I noticed you don't use a wet palette, ever tried one? I'm on the fence getting this also..

+Tom Paulussen Hi Tom! Yes the cost does add up (but the paints will last you for ages) :) Yes I do use a wet pallet, but for filming tutorials I like to stick to a traditional type just to keep the mixing clear and easy to follow :)

Goddamn, Mark! How do you come up with these ideas? I’ve been working on C-3PO, taking a slightly different approach with a Balthasar Gold base because I primed in grey. I was thinking he was looking pretty fly after finishing the Auric Armour Gold / Runefang Steel highlights and then I hit him with the glaze mix and BANG! The guy exploded into life right in front of my eyes! Absolute joy! You’ve changed my life, Mark. You could be painting rubber dog shit pink and I’d still keep paying the Patreon subs! Im sorry if this has been asked in previous videos but 1. How long would a model like C3PO take? 2. Do you play with these minis or are they just "show pieces"? 3. If you do play with them, how do they hold up? Ive just started getting into painting but I really like your videos. Very clear instructions and also give me inspiration and ideas on techniques I wouldve never considered. Keep up the great work!

another excellent video Soras tro! I'd been tackling a lot of the twin shadows stuff on my own but was a little intimidated by these two but mine came out great thanks to your guidance. Hi, I've just bought this minis thanks to your videos. I have a couple of question regarding bases. After your've already removed the original base, what do you use to fix them in a new "grip", it's some sort of clay? and, Are you using the 25 mm Tech bases from micro art studios right ? Thanks a lot ! I've already paint all the main miniatures from Journeys in Middle Earth thanks to you :)

Hey sorasto. I'm up to the dry bushing for c3po so I'm not far in it. Do you have a recommendation for getting the red arm? I tried bloodletter glaze on top and it looked so patchy. I'm thinking maybe going for leadbeltch+evil sunz and runefang+wild rider red. Similar to your r2 approach on done. Pretty sure the finish on it is a full metal which is why I thought it'd be this scheme. Thanks and as always proud to support an amazing artist such as yourself.
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 7 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Solis Hi Joshua! Thanks for the kind words! For the red arm there's probably by loads of ways it could be done; one way would be to use the approach I took with the red HK droid back in Ep.34 (I was partly inspired by C3P0's red arm when I ca,e up with that scheme) :)

Great as always! One criticism for which i'm sure you're aware but viewers may not realize. Your primer is drying before it hits your model sometimes. It may be the particular primer you used on R2 and the storm troopers. That's why they have that grainy texture to them. I'm sure it looks fine on the table top but in these up close shots it really stands out. Why do you suppose this is happening? Does it not bother you too much? Is it too difficult to remove the primer and start over if it does happen?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 8 жыл бұрын
+Murray Britton Thanks Murray! It can be annoying, and although there are ways of removing primer I've never tried it myself. My solution is that I now have an airbrush which I will be doing all of my future priming with instead of a rattle can :)

I am not sure if this question have been asked before, but which Citadel color would you use instead of the Prussian Blue? For the Dark Prussian Blue it was Kantor blue, but I am not sure which one I should use for the Prussian Blue :)

Hi Henrik! You could probably get away with just adding a little white to your Kantor Blue :)

Fantastic video as always! My favourite yet :D The pen that you used (assuming it comes in red for example) would that be a good way to paint the eyes on Space Marines or am I thinking about it wrong? I've heard of paint pens but I am not sure that is what is going on here haha.

Hi! You can create your own glaze my simply thinning down the colour you like - preferably with some medium (Lahmian Medium, or Vallejo's Glaze Medium for examiple) :)

Great video as always Sorastro! Do you usually thin metallic paints? I find it loses its shine if I thin it with water.

Hello! I would like to ask you about something. Did you try to use wet palette? What do you think about it?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel! Yes I often use a wet palette and it is useful not having the paint dry up between sessions. I don't use one when filming because I like to keep the steps nice and easy to follow :)

I tried the technique that you used on C3P0 on a different model and found that it did not turn gold but a bronze instead. Any tips on what I may be doing wrong? I did the same process listed on the video.

First of, love your videos. My daughter and I have taken up the hobby and are working our way through the imperial assault miniatures. However, Im running into a real problem. Every time I use nuln oil on a mini like r2d2 it just ends up looking super dirty. I tried brushing away as much as possible but that just left it dirty with less definition. I shook the bottle. Dont get what Im doing wrong. Went from looking good to looking like I'll have to start over. Had the same issue with the stormtroopers. Advice welcome
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 7 жыл бұрын
Hi wileyc0y0te! Hmm I'm not sure why you Nuln Oil is turning out quite that dark, but you could always thin it a little (like I did with the stormtroopers in episode 30) to achieve a look you're happier with :)

Hi Sorastros, R2D2 is not that easy. I have used metal boltgun vs leadbelcher (this is the old corresponding reference) but your result looks brighter. Mine looks darker on the dome. Moreover the result looks a bit too thick. Not as fine as you. Do you mix water directly in your mixes, just in your base or do you load your brush with water before loading with the paint? I am pretty curious why the result I obtain looks pretty rough compare to your smooth result.
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 8 жыл бұрын
+Christophe Porcel Hi Christophe! I simply thin my paints with water in the palette. It sounds like you just need to thin your paints a little more and build the highlights up with multiple thin layers :)

+Graham Johnson Hi Graham! All I can suggest is that you hold the brush as close to the brush end as possible, keep your wirsts resting on a surface, and don't paint whilst you have caffeine in your veins! (Seriously - I can't paint very well in the mornings due to the coffee I like to have then). Hope this helps!
