Will you PLEASE stop being so inspiring!!!!! I've painted more figures today than I do in a month, thanks to your tutorials. My painting is now so much improved I finish a figure faster and better than ever before. I started at 6am this morning, have your tutorials playing while I paint, and keep using your tips and advise as I paint. At this rate, I'll run out of figures to paint, and may end up going back to the Dark Side (armour/aircraft model making) just to try your techniques in that area. Unbelievably wonderful tutorials, more inspiration than I've ever known before, and new ideas for colour schemes/patterns flowing like water through a hose pipe. I simply cannot thank you enough!!!!! I'm loving my hobby/work more than ever again. :-D Paul

I can't say enough good things about your series! I started your series having no idea how to paint mini's. I'm now on ep. 14 and I've improved and learnt so much. Your work and commitment to detail and quality are outstanding! One thing I wanted to mention is that I'm not using Citadel paints, and I am having a lot of fun learning about mixing paints to get proper colors, making my own shades and some custom technical paints amongst the other research I’ve done about painting in general. My experience has been so enjoyable and fun thus far.. Thank you so much for your work!

Hey sorasto. I'm up to the dry bushing for c3po so I'm not far in it. Do you have a recommendation for getting the red arm? I tried bloodletter glaze on top and it looked so patchy. I'm thinking maybe going for leadbeltch+evil sunz and runefang+wild rider red. Similar to your r2 approach on done. Pretty sure the finish on it is a full metal which is why I thought it'd be this scheme. Thanks and as always proud to support an amazing artist such as yourself.
@Sorastro7 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Solis Hi Joshua! Thanks for the kind words! For the red arm there's probably by loads of ways it could be done; one way would be to use the approach I took with the red HK droid back in Ep.34 (I was partly inspired by C3P0's red arm when I ca,e up with that scheme) :)

Tried following this tutorial, but after applying one coat of Seraphim Sepia to the leadbelcher base coat, I noticed it came out MUCH darker than it looks in the video, even with good lighting. Could I have a "bad" batch of the wash to speak?

Hi! It could be that the concentration of the product varies a little? You could try thinning with Lahmian Medium if it seems a little heavy.. 😀

@@Sorastro Wow thanks for the reply! Wasn't expecting one to such an old video haha. I ended up just basing with a mix of Bathalsar Gold and Retributor Armor and it came out a nice more muted pale gold that I think looks pretty decent. Thanks for all the great guides!

Great! I'm glad you found a solution 😀
@Batterybrain8 жыл бұрын
Great as always! One criticism for which i'm sure you're aware but viewers may not realize. Your primer is drying before it hits your model sometimes. It may be the particular primer you used on R2 and the storm troopers. That's why they have that grainy texture to them. I'm sure it looks fine on the table top but in these up close shots it really stands out. Why do you suppose this is happening? Does it not bother you too much? Is it too difficult to remove the primer and start over if it does happen?
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
+Murray Britton Thanks Murray! It can be annoying, and although there are ways of removing primer I've never tried it myself. My solution is that I now have an airbrush which I will be doing all of my future priming with instead of a rattle can :)

First of, love your videos. My daughter and I have taken up the hobby and are working our way through the imperial assault miniatures. However, Im running into a real problem. Every time I use nuln oil on a mini like r2d2 it just ends up looking super dirty. I tried brushing away as much as possible but that just left it dirty with less definition. I shook the bottle. Dont get what Im doing wrong. Went from looking good to looking like I'll have to start over. Had the same issue with the stormtroopers. Advice welcome

Hi wileyc0y0te! Hmm I'm not sure why you Nuln Oil is turning out quite that dark, but you could always thin it a little (like I did with the stormtroopers in episode 30) to achieve a look you're happier with :)

Hi Sorastros, R2D2 is not that easy. I have used metal boltgun vs leadbelcher (this is the old corresponding reference) but your result looks brighter. Mine looks darker on the dome. Moreover the result looks a bit too thick. Not as fine as you. Do you mix water directly in your mixes, just in your base or do you load your brush with water before loading with the paint? I am pretty curious why the result I obtain looks pretty rough compare to your smooth result.
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
+Christophe Porcel Hi Christophe! I simply thin my paints with water in the palette. It sounds like you just need to thin your paints a little more and build the highlights up with multiple thin layers :)

Yu have vary steady hands, any tips for those of us with shaky hands?
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
+Graham Johnson Hi Graham! All I can suggest is that you hold the brush as close to the brush end as possible, keep your wirsts resting on a surface, and don't paint whilst you have caffeine in your veins! (Seriously - I can't paint very well in the mornings due to the coffee I like to have then). Hope this helps!

+Sorastro's Painting By following one of your earlier guides I was able to produce my best figure yet, Han Solo so thank you very much for that. Anyway what's next on the Imperial Assault list, or are you not allowed to say..?
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
+Oliver Redford That's good to hear! I don't actually know which will be next but will be holding a vote very soon to let my patrons decide. I'll update my website (sorastro.com) with the results as soon as I know :)

what´s the difference between primer black or white???
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
+Sergio Gomez It doesn't really matter that much, but brighter colours are a bit easier to achieve over a white primer is all :)

John, some people are miserable, unappreciative assholes that not only lack skill but respect as well. Failure is a constant companion to them and they languish in their own personal hell.
