This game is hands down one of my favorite games of all time. It was a revolutionary, as it combined various aspects I loved about D&D with the lore of Star Wars. In addition, the fact this game is so far removed from the Star Wars Movies, gives us such an insight onto the world of Star Wars, one cannot help but feel captivated. The game's characters are some of the best Bioware has produced. They not only fulfill the certain archetypes and tropes you'd expect from Star Wars, but they stand on their own as wonderful characters. The worlds and side quests are amazing and in turn, the sense of choice presented is really refreshing. This is something they did wonderful with Mass Effect, but I feel like it is better executed her. Finally, the game's narrative is one of the most prolific and thought provoking of any Star Wars game in my view. It very much causes the person to sit back and really think things through. Overall, this game is a gem. A part of me really wants to see a movie adapted of this timeline(call it Star Wars Origins), or trilogy. This was by far the best edition to the Star Wars mythos and is the thing that made me a diehard Star Wars fan.

@joshuacarpenter74479 жыл бұрын
+Neil Ganti They weren't all wonderful. Juhliani or however her name was spelled was a little...eh. Looking back on this makes you wonder how they screwed up so bad with ME 3's endings. With how Bioware does characters and relations now, it'd be interesting to see what they could do with a KOTOR 3.
@Avarn3889 жыл бұрын
***** Fair enough. I still really like the characters of KOTOR one. But Yes, I can see some of the pitfalls of Bioware in this game in regards to ME 3. Though, I personally do not hate the ending. I do think it was a bit underwhelming, but I have no animosity towards it. That said, I'd love to see KOTOR 3. As much as I like TOR's lore, it isn't KOTOR. It is my favorite era of Star Wars and I'd love to see more developed from this period. Heck, make this the next trilogy after this sequel trilogy. Some may compare it to the prequels, but it is a fantastic world setting.
@InfernoNinja1118 жыл бұрын
Hi, im really late but I agree with everything you said, The old republic timeline got me into star wars, and this game was much more in depth than any of the films/games about the modern timeline. TOR ( free to play mmorpg) was quite good (still nothing on kotor, though it was very reminiscent of it....and is free), I still keep going back to it.

there's really no point using blasters on your main character in KOTOR except in specific circumstances or if your making a blaster jedi. In 2002 when I was 43 I bought my first Xbox game console and the first game I ever played was Star Wars Obi-Wan, and I thought it was the hardest thing I had ever done. Then later I bought Jedi Outcast which made Obi-Wan seem like a baby's game in comparison. Then I got KOTOR and I just lost my mind at that point. When I got to the dueling arena near the beginning of the game I could not get past my second opponent Gerlon Two Fingers. At one point we were chasing each other in circles around the arena firing pistols and even though I could badly wound him he always got me in the end. So out of frustration I just quit and threw the game away. Now at 58 I come across your videos and they have given me a new inspiration to try again. I still have my original console and won't be playing on the 360 based on the problems you had. Hopefully those problems will be fixed when original xbox games will become playable on the the xbox one.

Knights of the Old Republic has a great story, it is vastly better than the story and execution of TFA. I hope you agree.
@cooliocon5 жыл бұрын
Inigo Wadsley dude, look at what TFA is, and with TLJ out as well now, it was a copy and I didn’t care for that, but it was a worse one and there are points that go outside it being a copy. Here’s some of mine and my friends reasons for hating it... 1. They tried ripping off Darth Vader and instead made essentially an angry teen with a lightsaber 2. A good bit of the acting was pretty bad 3. They set it up for so much, and then they didn’t deliver even one thing good 4. They didn’t provide any set up on the first order aside from one line, that it rose from the ashes of the empire, THATS IT 5. Starkiller base, it swallows stars to power it right, while there are devices that can move planets, they’re in the legends mostly, so how does that base work more than once? 6. This is me personally, but it didn’t feel like Star Wars, it felt like a cheap nock off created by a company that’s main rule is to squeeze every drop of money out of you 7. There’s always a lightsaber fight in the series that’s supposed to be meaningful or a very powerful moment, and they just gave us one that what only intense cause the planet was blowing up. 8. The made one of the characters a coward with an ego at times, and aside from Han and Chewbacca, he was one of the most likable. 9. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Jedi mind tricks work on the weak minded, so wouldn’t that solider, apicali trained since birth not have been affected by Jedi mind tricks and how the heck did she even know how to do that in the first place? 10. You said most people hate it for being a copy, well in the Og the space superweapon didn’t actualy get to fire and kill millions of people, the good guys actually stopped it beforehand, that’s like the the only thing that they didn’t copy that I wish they did. Anywho a god bit of those were nitpicking and debatable but those are some of mine, but good lord don’t even get me started on the last Jedi and where it went wrong, or I should say make a competition with your friends to see who can name what they did right, I’ll give 10 bucks to whoever comes up with one thing.
@Walamonga13135 жыл бұрын

I have never watched Star War movies (I did watch some of them as a kid but I forgot about it) and the thing is that I heard a lot of good things about this game. Now I love RPG games with a good story, my first rpg was Dragon Age: Origins and damn I fell in love with that game, I completed it about 5-6 times and still to this day I could play it again and again. After DA:O I completed the Fallout 3 and the Fallout NV which were also good, but not even close to DA:O in my opinion. So is it worth playing this Star Wars game withouth any knowlege of the Star Wars movies?

Also, idk what kind of games you like but Jedi Kinght games really made me wish I was a Jedi... not much of an rpg but lightsabering can't feel better and atmosphere/story is awesome... I even liked Force Unleashed... It's maybe even better then jedi knight, but the level design and story were close to terrible..

Kimi dude i know this is old but if you love DA:O (which i do too man it's fucking awesome i beat tons of times ) This game plays allot like it. the combat system is a lil slower so you can layer up your attacks but the quest are fun and memorable. So are the companions. You dont need to love Star wars to love this game it's lore is epic and immersive. It pre dates star wars thousands of years before any of the movies . I hope you give it a go.

not a very good build man. A good balance build for soldier is STR 14 DEX 14 CON 14 INT 12 WIS 12 CHA 12. As time goes on you can start putting more points in without wasting any extra points doing so. After you go over 14 it takes 2 points per lvl.
@domenicomarzolla304510 жыл бұрын
Milord, he will have extreme difficulties in beating you in the end. I constructed a balanced, do-all, computer-spicing, droid-reparing, stealth-sneaking Jedi Sentinel the first time and ripping your ass on the Star Forge was hellishly difficult.
@ChristopherM10 жыл бұрын
It's the first star wars game based on the D20 system used by Dungeons and Dragons back in the day. classic 30 point buy start. Every attribute point costs the following: 9 to 14 = 1 point. 15 to 16 = 2 points each; 17 to 18 = 3 points each. So an 18 in any stat will cost you 16 points. What really got me, knowing the game system, is he choses the soldier class, where all his skills are mainly physical attribute based, and he choses to decrease his physical stats to increase other stats that give him no use for his class.
@kirakira410 жыл бұрын
Christopher M perhaps he is aiming to become a jedi consular....
@pasheg434510 жыл бұрын
Indeed, it's one of the the worst builds I've ever seen. Intelligence is mostly useless, particularly for a Soldier (he won't get many skill points anyway). Charisma could be important for a future Consular, but as I understand this guy is aiming for the Guardian. The nice initial built for some all-rounded Soldier / Guardian would be something like ST 14, DEX 14, CON 14, INT 10, WIS 12 (to be updated at lvl 4 and 8), CH 14 (helps with Persuasion, which is good at the beginning). This way no attribute points are lost, and nothing is lacking (except for Intelligence). Later on, the Guardian will have enough Force points and normal saving throws. Of course, you could create something like 18 / 12 / 14 / 8 / 10 / 10, but it's merely a waste of attribute points and a painfully one-sided "barbarian" character as a result.
@cultofmalgus131010 жыл бұрын

no not at all. See it's not as easy as people think. I hardly have the time to record as it is with my full time job and all. It's difficult to get all the guys together the way things are for me. However, I'm trying to get that started up again.

I used the same character portrait as you. Every single time I played the game, and I've beaten KotOR somewhere around 20 times. Absolutely loved this game.

just to make it clear, having played and beaten this a few times, u wanna start with demolitions, security and computer use as your top skills in both KOTR 1 and 2 the starting prolouge missions require them to some degree.

I always picked the same character as you did, because he always did seem like he struggles between the light and the dark, making him a perfect candidate for Revan

Heck yeah theres nothing like rewatching the best KOTOR playthrough on KZbin for the 80th time. Really hope you play the remake as soon as it comes out!

First time watching this guy, what makes his the best playthrough?
@CemeterySoup2 жыл бұрын
@@Deimos_Day Well not only is he funny, but you can tell throughout his playthrough just how much he truly loves this game, and you can see how much work and dedication he put into his videos because of this. You can tell when someone loves what they're doing and that makes it that much more enjoyable to watch. He also has several different playthroughs of KOTOR each with a different approach to the game: light side, dark side, gray jedi, etc. So I never get bored of watching him play the same game.

I started playing this because I was playing The Old Republic and wanted to re-play through this to kinda catch up on the story (even though I know you really don't need to know the story for The Old Republic) but I decided to just watch this walkthrough instead because I paid for a month sub to The Old Republic and didn't wanna waste it. So I will just watch this and then play through it myself after my month is up!

You sir have reminded me how much I love this game. I was about 9 when I played this. It came free when I purchased the original Xbox, but I couldn't complete a certain part early on in the game so I quit and left it for quite some time. Eventually I had no interesting games to play and I figured "fuck it!" And I ended up falling in love with this.

I had a friend named Austin when I still lived in Washington. He introduced me to it. I think my presence was difficult for him.
