It's very simple: The guys who decided not to reunite Luke, Han and Leia destroyed Star Wars. This was the beginning of the end.
@TiaraStarbrighter2 күн бұрын
Also, the same ones who decided: 1. to make a boys franchise a girls franchise 2. make Luke and Han losers who fled their responsibilities 3. made Han Solo walk into his son's lightsaber, make the latter irredeemable to the fans 4. admitted that they DID NOT HAVE A PLAN when they started to make movies for their 4.1 billion dollar investment. Three different writers-directors were at odds with each as each spent $250 to $275 million per film (on the low end) on their drek.

I think that the reason for not reuniting the heroes is more damning that the decision itself. JJ said that he found that when the legacy characters were used, they tended to overshadow the new characters. This is a sure sign that the new characters are weak and with that whole sequel.
@harrymills27702 күн бұрын
@@Crystalgate Yep. The next-gen Skywalker needed to learn at the knee of the master, Luke, who was minted in the Return of the Jedi. They actually DID have some GREAT sequels, including ones featuring female leads. There was so much potential in the Pincess Leia character, and they wasted 20 years ignoring Carrie Fisher! LOL! But seriously, that was the natural progression, because as Luke's sister, Leia had The Force in buckets. Training her up, and sending her on some adventures would've been quite a natural thing to do. It didn't even have to be hostile towards men to be females with Force powers. Just another Jedi in the same tradition who happened to be a female, and who probably used the Force in more subtle ways, changing the way people think, nudging them in the right direction without coercion or violence, instead of fighting with swords all the time. Anyway. Enough Fan Fiction. The opportunity was squandered. The fact that, as was said, they didn't have a plan beyond the acquisition. Just figured they'd hire a hot director/producer and it would all be perfect, and the corporate heads just wanted them to stay ahead of the social justice thing, because it was "the right thing to do," according to the beancounters.

The Skywalker era/story arc though? That's dead and buried. If they put Star Wars to bed for the next ten years, canned KK, and come back with an entirely new crew to do an adaptation of KOTOR, or a true sequel set hundreds of years in the future? That could work. This continuous OT adjacent storytelling after the OT has been so thoroughly butchered by these clowns though is just going to make the problem worse.

That the dudebros are, or were, the actual fanbase for SW, and the decision by KK to not only not cater to them but to actually intentionally alienate them could only be considered malpractice at best, or intentional sabotage of the IP at worst. The first couple of films could be seen as an experiment to see if they could diversify the fanbase, but as the failures continue to pile up and Disney/Lucasfilm under the administration of KK and BI decide to hold the course even in the face of abject failure after failure only proves their incompetence at steering this large a ship. Bottom line is that Star Wars cannot be saved. At least it cannot be saved in the short term and it's time to accept that it's been so completely damaged that it cannot push forward as it is. So, at this point the only options is to shut it down and allow a new generation to actually make something new and accept that it's gone. Or, the second option is that it has to go on ice for MANY years and perhaps in the future a totally new/not crazy/not ideologically driven team can take over with it then and perhaps revitalize it years down the line. But in it's current form it's basically dead. So behold this is the legacy of Kathleen Kennedy... the woman that managed to destroy that which was thought to be undestroyable. That is her legacy.

Key points that need to be addressed for Star Wars to move forward - 1: The people responsible for the failure need to face accountability. Kennedy, her crop of creatives, and the various directors/producers need to be given the boot. 2: The brand as a whole needs a break, in terms of TV/Film. Too many people have strong negative feelings about the brand, and people need time to let those negative feelings simmer down. 3: More emphasis in non-film media that still has a positive reputation should be pursued. The only healthy bits left in all of Star Wars that is still ongoing are pretty much *just* Drew Kerpeshyn's works. And even that is kind of a mixed bag because of the MMORPG. Release a single player director's cut of the MMO that allows us to have a proper KOTOR 3. 4: Building on 3, work on pursuing more non-film, non-Skywalker adjacent Star Wars media. Books, comics, and games which don't involve the OT but are set in Star Wars. Find out what sticks through cheap products. 5: Once you have a good idea of what'll work, once the TV/Film break has passed, build on that with some low budget TV adaptations. Do animation and live action. 6: Figure out who's doing the money laundering and fire them. Stop hiring overpriced people. Crack down on waste. Get the god damn budgets under control.

Star Wars is in shambles due to a lack of talent, woke beliefs, and too many eras for fans to be able to properly focus on. Originally, it was the Empire Era (the times of the original films) that was the focus; we saw that in film, in comics, and in video games. The post Return of the Jedi was also explored but only in novels and some comics. This created a semi-segregation that helped to manage the mini-brands (based on timeline) whether through design or coincidence. With the Prequels, we opened up a new era that was covered not only in live action movies but also video games, comics, and novels. It was a great time to be honest where, while the films didn't match the magic of the old, they were sturdy enough and didn't insult the lore but added to it. Despite the lies they tell you now, nothing from the Prequel era EVER divided he fans the way Disney Star Wars did (and especially The Last Jedi). On topic, we saw much less Empire era content while the post ROTJ continues to be mostly novels. Again, a simple separation that let the fans process and digest. Yes, there was the Old Republic era (comics and then the very popular Knights of the Old Republic games) but the former were not as mainstream and the latter were easy to segregate as just two games. Disney is where we start to really see a breakdown. We overwrite the original post ROTJ novel content with new films... that were mediocre at best and also tore down what came before. That had NEVER happened in Star Wars. We also saw the Empire era emphasized not only through video games and comics but also live action. Again, never before did we have multiple live action Star Wars set in different eras. Then, to make it more complex, we are scatted across the Empire Era with Andor/Rogue One before A New Hope and Mandalorian/Ashoka post ROTJ. Too much, set in too many time periods. Add to THAT the High Republic which is in novel, comic, and live action with the Acolyte. Even then, the Acolyte is set about 100 years after the High Republic novels, which only adds to the confusion. No idea when Skeleton Crew occurs. Don't care. Disney Star Wars made a huge screw up not only in overpaying for Lucasfilm but not having a plan by their own admission. They botched the sequels, effectively salting what should have been fertile ground for new content as the Prequels were. Similarly, they created the High Republic which had no reason to exist nor compelling hook or talent to bring in fans. In less than 10 years, Disney mismanaged one of the greatest IP's of all times. It is both tragic and terrifying.

The fans wanted Luke Skywalker to be the star of 7-9. They need to rename the sequels while we have George Lucas around still. If not, then they may mot be able to save the brand

I don't think it's just Tassi, Kain has been calling out journalists in general in regards to Star Wars and the lack of critique when the shows have been bad. I think he finally gave up after the glowing reviews for The Acolyte which he was polite enough to not call trash but you could tell he was thinking it.

I really liked Andor. Didn't even bother with the Acolite

It is NEVER THE FANS or the critics. They only observe the results. Ultimately, as the expression goes, 'a fish rots from the head.' That fish is Kathleen Kennedy.

The original Star Wars will always be close to my heart🥲. Besides, all good things eventually have to come to an end.

The only real hope for Star Wars is to bring in people like Lorn Conner and Star Wars Theory - people who really know and love Star Wars, to help them get stories right. Before that they MUST jettison anyone even remotely associated with the Lucasfilm Story Group in any way. Bring in real Star Wars writers to work withreal Star Wars fans on getting the stories right. Small wins at first gradually growing to bigger wins.

Maybe you're right. Maybe you're not moving the needle. But I think the viewing audience is becoming more selective and is checking the Fandom Menace before even STARTING to watch any of these IPs, because we've been so disappointed, and we remember who said x, y or z wasn't good. You guys shouldn't under-estimate your impact. Of course, you're all in competition with each other, so maybe each of you, except maybe Drinker and Nerdrotic, feels like you're not making a difference. But basically anybody over 10,000 loyal subs is having some impact, and collectively, the impact is enormous, at least amongst the discriminating fans most likely to part with a dollar to check these movies out. I hope all y'all make out well this next year. I think you provide a great service, watching all this content and giving us a report, so we don't have to go to stuff that sucks. If you get it wrong, then you will probably lose subscribers, but so far, you're just head and shoulders above Hollywood, right now. We'd all rather watch a 10-minute Pitch Meeting than most of the new movies of the sort that used to pique our interest.

Before you can even watch a Star Wars series, you have to be subscribed to Disney +. You have to even be subscribed to Disney + to watch some fan fiction, but that's another story. I think the problem is Disney + itself. I had Disney + for a year, and only because it was free, and I have no intention of resubscribing. Even if you told me that Skeleton Crew is the best show ever made, it would not be enough to make me subscribe to Disney + again and then watch it. I think Star Wars should always have been films in theatres. It does not work on streaming

Paul Tassi is a self-described liberal or leftist. Although his honesty about at least his politics is refreshing, people of the left aren't exactly too strong when it comes to ethics, logic, honesty, common sense & integrity. The qualities of empathy, tolerance & compassion - that are truly meaningful - rely upon those traits too.

Apparently I’m not in the majority, but Andor struggled to keep my attention. I forced myself to finish it, but would have enjoyed watching any random show on any other platform better. I just thought it was really boring 🤷♂️

South Park is so spot on the main reasons for the why no one cares for the Star Wars. The Woke DEI message filled stories that is way off the original story arc that fans cannot even recognise the original characters. No one cares.

Who is responsible for the death of Star Wars? Rachel Zeggler, Leslie Headland, and the other activists at Disney. People have been boycotting it ever since Gina Corrano was fired, and those activists are why. Not to mention that the exact reason given for Corrano's firing was antisemetism. So, I'd throw Bob Igor's name into the list, even though he wasn't even technically woring at the time. He is Jewish though, and the current leader of Disney.
